FROM THE PUBLISHER Many consider August to be the “last month” of summer and the last hoorah for many Bike Nights and rides. It’s also considered the “best riding month” of summer – with less rain and heat than June and July. Not sure that this is true, but it’s a common perception. Regardless, it’s yet another excuse for us to encourage you to GET OUT AND RIDE – and make the most of the time you have! Of course, there are plenty of days, weeks, even months to go this year – in terms of riding season, but that’s a re-occurring theme for us. Make the most of the time you have. We always think it’s important to live every moment – and LIVE STRONG! That’s doesn’t mean live your life with a short-term outlook or at the expense of others – but embrace life and push it to its fullest potential. Along those lines, we encourage everyone to get out and try some new spots while you’re riding this “final summer month”. Maybe you’ve spent the summer hitting the same spots with the same crowd and it’s time to hit some new stops. As luck would have it – we might have a few suggestions for you! If you haven’t made it out to a flat track race yet – we invite you to join us August 18th or 19th (or both!) at the Ohio Flat Track Sport Center in Harpster for a weekend of racing on the dirt track. Flat track racing is about as exciting as it gets in terms of motorsports – with bikes sliding in the corners and racers giving it their all. If you’ve never seen it before – you’re missing out. In terms of RIDING FOR A CAUSE – we have plenty of great rides going out in August all across the state! Harley’s Against Heroin hosts their Ride and Bike Show on August 11th – kicking off in Amelia (outside Cincinnati) and then we have the 46th Annual Centurion Poker Run on the following day up in Akron. On the 19th we have the Ride for the Rhinos running from Iron Pony (Westerville / Columbus) to the Wilds – one of the largest wild life reserves in North America, which just happens to be outside Zanesville! The same day we also have a ride for the Christian Children’s Home in Wooster and a Cystic Fibrosis Run leaving the King Sportsman in Akron. These are just a few of the rides featured in this month’s magazine and online at ThunderRoadsOhio.com Speaking of rides – we have a few extended “rides” to recommend this month as well. Of course, the BIG DADDY of all motorcycle rallies (in our opinion) is of course the STURGIS BLACK HILLS RALLY! This kicks off the month running August 3-12. Don’t have the time for a run out to South Dakota? No worries, we have plenty of great riding and rallies right here in O-HI-O! This month we have the RALLY ON THE RIVER in Ironton, August 17th-19th. Then lastly, we have the Easyriders Rodeo in Chillicothe, August 30th – September 3rd. That’s a party that’s on many bucket lists. If you’re more into RIDING than crazy parties or concerts, we might suggest the MSTA FLY-BY Rally (sponsored in part by Thunder Roads Ohio). It runs August 20-26 out of Marietta and features literally thousands of miles of mapped out rides for you to explore Southeastern Ohio with. You can find more about this cool event on page 46 and online.

Exciting new changes for the Devil’s Staircase AMA Pro Hillclimbs For 2018, the Dayton Motorcycle Club has announced some exciting new changes for the Devil’s Staircase AMA Pro Hillclimbs that they host in Oregonia every year. The most dramatic being that they are expanding the event to two days – kicking off on Saturday, October 13th with dirt drags, grudge racing, and various motorcycle games. It’s an old school style field meet with live music to cap the day. All are welcome to join in the fun or come on out and simply cheer on those competing. No experience is needed and there is an endless supply of folks that can share their opinions and give a hand as needed. It’s a perfect compliment to the AMA PRO Hillclimb Races held on Sunday, October 14th This will be the 69th running of the hillclimbs at Oregonia, making it one of the longest running motorcycle events in the country. It’s the culmination of the AMA PRO RACING series and generally determines the series Champions every year.
2018 HILLCLIMB SPONSORS
For those coming out for Saturday, the DMC is offering overnight camping in their area across the street. It’s primitive, but there’s plenty of space along the river and woods within walking distance from all the festivities. It’s a beautiful area and allows you to inexpensively camp right at the event and start your day – at the Hillclimbs! There are expanded options for vendors and exhibitor displays as well, and shops / dealerships are invited to come out and display vehicles as well. On Saturday, there will be a special discounted swap meet area with spots for as little as $20! For more information and to reserve space, email BikeShowInfo@gmail.com 8

JOIN THE TEAM
If you love to ride… If you enjoy exploring back roads and discovering new stops… If you enjoy being part of the show, not just on the sidelines… If you enjoying sharing your adventures and undertaking new ones… If you enjoy helping others on the road or in your community….. If you feel a connection with other riders…. You sound a lot like us. And you might consider becoming a part of our family… The motorcycle community is composed of many active and often diverse groups. In addition to the traditional, old school motorcycle clubs there are hundreds of riding clubs, charitable organizations, and businesses that are all focused on motorcycling and our lifestyle. From veteran’s clubs to animal advocacy riders – there’s something for just about everyone. It’s a crazy varied group, and Thunder Roads Ohio serves them all. Thunder Roads Ohio is a grassroots organization that works with local representatives to help cover and serve the motorcycle community. We actively support hundreds of local charity events and organizations throughout the state in a variety of capacities. We work with riding organizations of all types – from traditional clubs to metric street riders. We accomplish this by not trying to be anything we aren’t. We treat established clubs with the respect that they deserve and help the new folks navigate the waters in some cases. We work hand-in-hand with the largest motorcyclist organizations in Ohio, the Midwest, the Nation, and World – all to help educate and serve the riding community. Over the past few years, we have brought teams to Daytona, Sturgis, Galveston (Lone Star), Chillicothe, and dozens of other MAJOR MOTORCYCLE EVENTS across the state and Nation. We stood side stage at some of the biggest concerts and worked hand in hand to help pull off some of the biggest motorcycle events in Ohio. That’s who we are and what we do. We are Thunder Roads Ohio – the Nation’s Largest Regional Motorcycle Magazine, but we are much more than just the magazine you’re holding. We are a network of riders and advocates across Ohio, affiliated with others across the country and in some cases – around the world. Hundreds of thousands read our magazines each month – and we reach millions each week through our online presence. That’s who we are, and we would like to extend an invitation to join our family. Thunder Roads Ohio is actively looking to add Road Reps, Promotional Staff, Contributors, 10
Photographers, and Area Managers all across Ohio. Some positions are paid and some are volunteer, but most are a blend of both. You can make a lot of money with TRO, but it takes work, dedication, and a real passion for working with others within the riding community. We have both paid commissioned positions, hourly paid positions, and volunteer positions. It all depends upon what you’re looking for. This is an opportunity to get off the sidelines and actively become a part of the motorcycle scene. As a TRO Crew Member you’re able to directly help businesses and organizations in your area connect with thousands of riders. Far beyond simple magazine ads, TRO Reps can help coordinate promotional materials, entertainment, staffing, and entire marketing campaigns. These are services that we offer, and regional Reps are the tour guides that make it all possible. Depending upon what you’re interested in doing, little to no experience is necessary. Obviously, if you’re interested in being a photographer – you need to be comfortable behind a camera. However, you don’t have to be a professional. If you enjoy sharing a story from time to time, you might consider writing for the magazine. An English degree and professional credentials
aren’t required. This is a grassroots magazine, and we want a variety of voices to be heard. If you’re interested in becoming a Rep and possibly making a living with Thunder Roads, you need to be organized and comfortable talking with folks. You don’t have to be a slick sales person, that’s not how we work. The magazine and what we have to offer sell themselves. Reps simply serve as the Tour Guides, helping to develop the message and guide folks through the process. We have a lot to offer, and the Reps allow us to connect with everyone at the local level. We are a family of good folks from a variety of different backgrounds. We have different interests and skills – but we all enjoy being an active part of the riding community. TRO allows us to actively contribute to this community – helping it grow and sharing the stories we’re a part of. The first step is to email some information about yourself. Next, we need to meet up and talk. Then let’s hit the road together! For more information or to start the process, please email us at ThunderRoadsOhio@gmail. com or stop on out to an event and introduce yourself. We look forward to talking.
TRO SCAVENGER HUNT
The TRO SCAVENGER HUNT is a special, indoor THUNDER RUN through the pages of our very own magazine. Hidden someplace within the depth of these pages is a special TRO PRIZE LOGO – see the sample here. It’s a version of our “wheel logo” with a treasure chest on it. It was inspired by Cole’s favorite TV show – Jake and the Neverland Pirates! When you find it, shoot us an email at BuckeyeThunderRun@gmail.com with SCAVENGER HUNT in the subject line. Let us know what page and exactly where the logo is in this month’s magazine and we will put you in the drawing for some great TRO prizes – including some great gear and subscriptions to the magazine! How cool is that?!

As motorcyclists, bikers, or whatever you want to call yourselves – our bikes are often our pride and joy. In many cases, We spend hours after hours, and often dollars after dollars making them our own personal ride. With all that time and effort, why not bring them out and showcase what you’ve done? To that end, we present the Thunder Roads Ohio Championship Bike Show Series. The TRO Bike Show Series features local, regional, and nationally recognized shows that all builders and bike owners are encouraged to participate in. Vintage, metric, v-twin, customs, restored antiques, “resto-mods”, trikes, and radicals – they are all welcome to the show. Each bike show is also a qualifier for our Championship Shows – both the State Show and the National Championship Show which has been held as part of the I-X Piston Power Show the last several years. The vast majority of these shows are RIDE-IN shows, meaning that the bikes are expected to be ridden and a little bit of road dust is fine. We don’t split hairs over trailering in bikes, but we do require that all bikes must be functioning. They must THUNDER ROADS® OHIO MAGAZINE
start and be able to be safely ridden on the road. Most of the shows include voting by event attendees and weighted judges scores. We use this approach to make certain we include the “people’s choice” as well as a professional eye – preventing it just being a popularity contest. Some shows, though, are Judged Shows – with the guest votes simply going towards the People’s Choice Awards. All Thunder Roads Shows feature trophies and placards to recognize the bikes and winners, with special prizes being added in some shows in consideration of the location and hosts. The Best of Show Bikes and TOP Class Winners from the Bike Show Series are then invited to take part in the Championship Shows. This year’s shows will feature a broader range of classes including CUSTOM and RADICAL BAGGERS, GARAGE BUILDS, TRIKES, as well as VINTAGE, CUSTOM PAINT, and IMPORT categories. All will compete on the by the water, as the show is being held once more downtown on Sunday, For more information and to register, visit ThunderRoadsOhio.com. THUNDERROADSOHIO.COM
CUSTOM PAINT! All shows this year include a CUSTOM PAINT class for bikes to be considered under. You can enter your bike in just this category – or you can add it as a second classification. There is a discounted fee for adding the second category.

To My ABATE Friends, This is the August article and that means summer has about come to an end. It has been busy and sometimes there is just not enough time in a day. The products trailer was at the Freedom Rally where we signed up some new members and as always, we made some new friends. As I said last month, it’s kind of a surprise, the number of riders out there who don’t know what we do and who we are. We need to get out more and let riders know that we are here fighting every day for all bikers and invite them to become a member of ABATE. With the Freedom Rally on my mind, I’ll tell you it was a hot 4 days. To all the good people that organized, worked and attended - thank you! At events, one of my favorite things is the bike games and let me tell you, I did enjoy the games! They did a great job putting them on and the participants, well, I think some had been doing some practicing. The entertainment was a great mix and very easy to listen to. There was also a bunch of vendors. All in all, just a very good time. Labor Day weekend is the Easy Rider Rodeo in Chillicothe. Very few members have showed interest in helping man a booth. If we do not get more volunteers it won’t be happening. if you are interested in helping please contact me. It is a long weekend and its going to take more than 4 people to make it work. This is the last month to sell and buy tickets on the Raffle Bike. On Saturday, August 25th, everyone needs to be at The Original Margaritaville in Sandusky, Ohio. The party will be on starting at 11am with the last drawing at 9pm for the bike. Remember this is a money maker for each individual Region and the tickets sell easy if you talk it up. This is an election year so support your local politicians and most of all, the ones that support us. This is a good time to stop in and see them because right now they are spending time at home, drumming up votes. Please study up on them and make wise choices. Its time to start planning for the ABATE of Ohio State Seminar 2019. It will be at the Embassy suites in Dublin, OH on February 2, 2019. Please start making your plans because lots of good stuff happens there. Back a few years ago we had the seminar at the Embassy Suites and the Managers Happy Hour is the bomb. Don’t miss it!
SAFETY REPORT
Hi Friends,
Well summer is coming to an end and I’m not ready. This summer has been hot, but I like it better than winter. I hope we get a nice fall. If so, we all need to remember that fall will bring new riding hazards. In the spring we have loose gravel from the winter months, summer time brings heat and out of town drivers and fall will give us leaves on the roads. We have all learned and most always practice to be aware and alert of the changing conditions. I hope everyone at least checks this part of my article every month because we need to be aware of crash and fatality statistics. Remember, I write this article a month before you get to read it. So as of the first of July 2017, we had 1703 crashes and 51 fatalities and now this year we have 1220 crashes and 46 fatalities. We are down 483 crashes, 5 fatalities and 430 less injuries with what has been reported so far. The numbers are down but we still need to be aware of our surroundings and ride defensively at all times.
As the riding season goes on we all must Ride Smart and remember road etiquette. I was stopped at the side of the highway and was checking for a noise. I was so surprised that out of 8 bikes that went by, not one slowed down or stopped to check on me. If you see a biker on Bringing All Riders to The Table the side of the road, stop or at least slow down Mike Stock to see if they need help. It could be you some Chairman of The Board day. chairofboard@abate.com 419-654-5446 or 1-800-25-BIKER 16 16

Many of us have helped friends get started in motorcycling but have you checked on them lately? When new riders get up and going they pick up bad habits fast. We need to help them if they are backing their bike wrong or if they’re parking on a hill in the wrong direction. We need to make sure our friends don’t continue to ride on a temporary permit. They need to get their endorsement. If you know someone that only wants to ride at night or not on the big roads, they may be riding on a temp. Help them get into a Motorcycle Ohio class and take the beginners course. They will have their endorsement at the end of the 3-day class. Contact Motorcycle Ohio at www.motorcycle. ohio.gov If you would like to get more involved with Motorcycle Safety, on February 2, 2019, ABATE of Ohio will be hosting a State Legislative and Education Seminar. It is a great place to learn how you can get involved and help your friends in many different ways. Information can be found on our website. You do not need to be a member of ABATE to attend, but we hope you will be when you get done. www.abate.com This is an election year, so I ask that when you vote, know what E15 and higher fuels can do to your motorcycle. At the very least it will cause damage and void your warranty. Read and understand the laws on E15 fuel and vote against E15. Know how your Legislators feel about motorcyclists and know the ones that will take our freedoms away.

CMA Circumstances I’m sitting here in the garage of my eldest brother’s home after arriving yesterday. It’s morning and I’m by myself even though there are about 20 people here already with more expected by week’s end.
came from my mother’s womb, and naked I shall return there. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.” Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God.” NASB.
As I consider this article I am reminded of Job 1:6, “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.” NASB. This verse reminds me often of how Satan was allowed into the presence of the Lord, but why? The Lord is creator of all things, including the fallen angels. He, God, still has all authority over them (good and bad angels) and they are all still required to give an account to God.
WOW! Can you imagine the pain, anguish and emotions Job must have been feeling? Yet, he praised the Lord! Is it time we examine ourselves and our situations? Have we cursed God because of them, or, have we praised God despite them? Think about it!
Verse 7 says, “The LORD said to Satan, “From where do you come?” Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” Satan is present among us, but he is not omni-presence. Meaning he cannot be in all-places at all-times like God. Verse 8, “The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” 9. “Then Satan answered the LORD, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10. “Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11. “But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has, he will surely curse You to Your face.” NASB. I believe this shows even Satan knows God’s power is stronger than his own power. Satan understood without God removing His “hedge about” Job he (Satan) had no power to tempt Job. Verse 12, “Then the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.” So, Satan departed from the presence of the LORD.” God granted Satan’s desire. Why? I believe it is because God knew Job better than Satan. God knew Job could come through anything Satan would try and still Job would love the Lord. Here’s what Satan did to Job, starting in verse 13, “Now on the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkey feeding beside them, and the Sabeans attacked and took them. They also slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans formed three bands and made a raid on the camels and took them and slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, and behold, a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people and they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped. He said, “Naked I

AMA VINTAGE MOTORCYCLES-MID DAYS.....IT’S STILL FAMILY Another round is in the books! Probably some of the best weather ever for a vintage motorcycle event. Sunshine, blue skies and the sound of motorcycles everywhere made for a great weekend. Hare Scrambles, Motocross, Flat Track, Road Racing, Swap Meet, The Wall of Death, and Seminars galore. Even Pit Bikes races. Truly something for everyone. The Boulevard was filled with spectators on motorcycles of all kinds. Seemed like a record crowd to us. But as the weekend progressed it occurred to me “It’s still family”. If you read my column you know that over the years as I’ve covered racing I’ve talked about the friendships you develop with your involvement in motorcycles and racing.
also stepping back or ceasing to compete. Priorities and circumstances change for many. But the bond that is motorcycles continues to bring us all back.
golf carts enjoying the sites, sounds and smells that are part of the weekend. As a rider, it’s an event you should experience at least once.
There are still many in my extended family that raced this past weekend. As a spectator knowing someone who competes always makes it better. From “Rocker” Billy Morris who finished first in his class in the Hare Scrambles to CJ Laroche and Jace Hasskew who also took home hardware in their respective classes. Scott Nelson, your acknowledgment of your adoring fans in the keyhole made our day. Jeff Agnes, you never missed a beat...still fast as hell!
Here’s to hoping next year is even better! Stop by the motor home and become part of the family. On a sad note I am sure our riding community will join me in offering prayers and condolences to the family of Mike Wells. Longtime AMA and WERA road race member died from an apparent heart attack coming into Turn 1 of the road course on Saturday, July 7. RIP MIKE #341
Vintage weekend always, always excites. Families share time outside, cruising the Boulevard on pit bikes, mini-bikes, and
Our son no longer competes, and some of those guys I have come to call my sons are

NEW FOR 2018: MORE STOPS! MORE PRIZES! YEAR ROUND STOPS! SIMPLE DIGITAL CHECK-IN’S! “MAKE YOUR OWN RIDE STOPS!” PRESENTED BY RUSS BROWN MOTORCYCLE ATTORNEYS Thunder Roads Ohio (TRO) is proud to present the 2018 BUCKEYE THUNDER RUN - a state-wide, summer-long riding challenge hitting the coolest riding destinations and events across Ohio, presented by RUSS BROWN MOTORCYCLE ATTORNEYS! This is a riding challenge like no-other and features great prizes every month that you earn by simply getting out to ride!
MORE WAYS TO WIN!
Checking in at Ride Stops! Designated Ride Stops are listed at ThunderRoadsOhio.com and featured throughout each issue of Thunder Roads Ohio. These stops are selected based upon the recommendations of our readers and confirmed by our editors. ALL STOPS have been screened by our Editors and are places we feel comfortable recommending to you. We never simply add a stop because they are willing to write a check. Riders can then hit these locations and present their Rider Cards in order to register at each stop. Most will have Ride Stop Clipboard for you to sign in on. You simply have to write down your Ride Card #, your name, and your zip code. It’s that easy. Once a Rider has registered at the stop - their Card number is then entered into the drawing for that stop. Thunder Roads will then select rider checks-in’s randomly each month from across the state for special prizes and incentives.
Checking in at TRO Tour Stops!
Throughout the year, the TRO ROAD CREW will be hitting rides, rallies, bike shows, and various events throughout the state – and beyond! In some cases the CREW will be attending national rallies and other events throughout the Midwest – including Michigan and Pennsylvania motorcycle events. Anywhere the TRO CREW is at – instantly becomes a RIDE STOP! There is a listing of Tour Stops in the magazine and online each month. You can sign in on the Ride Stop Clipboard, just like a regular Ride Stop.
“MAKE YOUR OWN RIDE STOP!” – NEW FOR 2018! For 2018, we’ve added another option to WIN – by which Riders can recommend a RIDE STOP by simply “Checking-In” through their facebook account with the hashtag #TRO. Within the post, BTR Riders should say that they are “Making this their Ride Stop” and that we should also. You can also include why – and even do it all within in a posted video as well. Special prizes each month are allocated for these check-in’s and the stop itself can win – if applicable. Selected “MAKE YOUR OWN RIDE STOP’s” have a chance to win up to $5,000 in prizes – and each posting increases their chances to win! In such cases, the person(s) nominating the Stop with their check-in is also eligible for additional prizes as well.
$500 Amazon® Gift Card to be awarded to a chosen Rider nominating a Winning Stop with their check-in!
RIDERS CAN CHECK IN THROUGH THEIR SMART PHONES AND SOCIAL MEDIA!
IT’S NOT MANDATORY, BUT THIS ALLOWS INSTANT CHECK-IN’s AND INSTANT PRIZES! FOR THOSE THAT PREFER OLD SCHOOL, YOU CAN STILL CHECK IN WITH THE BOARDS. And it’s SIMPLE – 1. TAKE A PICTURE OF YOURSELF, YOUR BIKE, YOUR CREW, AT THE LOCATION. 2. HOLD YOUR RIDE CARD UP, WITH YOUR NUMBER VISIBLE TO MAKE TRACKING EASIER. 3. POST THE PICTURE TO YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT WITH THE LOCATION CHECK IN AND #TRO 4. It’s that simple.

OHIO’S MOTORCYCLE MAGAZINE
Prizes are developed by both Thunder Roads and our sponsors - allowing for some exciting options. They may include stays at exciting locations, riding gear or accessories, gift certificates, cash, rally passes, concert tickets, and even the opportunity to win factory and custom motorcycles! The beauty and simplicity of this program is that anyone can win with any check-in, but your chances of winning are increased by the amount you ride! The dedicated rider treking across the state has a greater chance of accumulating prizes - but the couple that can only get out a few days a month to ride can also win! Every check-in counts as an entry in the "drawing" - so if you hit 40 stops in a month, you have twice as many chances of winning as someone that only hits 20. The more you ride - the more opportunities you will have to win! That's the whole idea - to encourage everyone to get out and ride!
State and Stop Prizes Every month the TRO staff will randomly select winners from the check-ins. Some prizes will be specific to the particular stop - and usually sponsored by that stop. For instance, a leather shop may award a custom leather vest to someone visiting their store during the month of June. That would be a prize specific to that stop and only riders checking in at that location would be eligible for that prize. Other prizes will be state wide, with everyone checking in at any location eligible to win!
The Winners If your check-in is drawn, Thunder Roads will post your card number on our website and sometimes in the magazine as well. both online and in the magazine. Riders will then have at least 45 days to "claim" their prizes. For state-wide prizes, winners will often have the opportunity to select from a number of prize options. For instance, a rider might have the option of winning an Ohio Bike Week Rally Package that includes accommodations and extras for attending North Coast Thunder Rally. If that rider isn't able to take advantage of that prize - they might opt for a Premium Leather Jacket or Gift Certificate instead. Not all prizes are exchangeable. • • • •
Riders are able to win multiple prizes - based upon the drawing of their check-in's. Some prize drawings are specific to only check-in's for the particular month - while others prizes are drawn from check-in's season long. ALL CHECK-IN's remain in the system for end of the season prizes! Riders are able to check-in once a week at a stop (Monday-Sunday)
SOCIAL MEDIA WINNERS
Each month, the TRO Crew will randomly select WINNERS that have checked in through their social media with the #TRO hashtag. If their Ride Card is visible, we will register the Card Number as a winner and possibly send notification through email. In most cases, though, we will contact through your social media and the winning post. Digital winners have 15 days to contact TRO in regards to the prizes. In some cases, there may be less time due to constraints regarding the prize(s) – such as tickets for a particular concert.
For 2018, Thunder Run Riders have the chance to win 6 different motorcycles, Sturgis Buffalo Chip Passes, hundreds of tickets to concerts and some of the most exciting motorcycle events in the state, and countless other great prizes!
BONUS Check-in's!
The 2018 Buckeye Thunder Run is supported by our sponsors, so we want to encourage everyone to support them in turn. For that reason, we will issue a BONUS CHECK-IN to riders spending $10 or more at Official Ride Stops. The bonus criteria may be adjusted at some stops to accommodate riders on particulars of that stop. Specifics of each stop will be listed each month in Thunder Roads as part of the Stop Listing.
It's really that simple!
1. Get your Ohio Ride Card. 2. Get the list of stops each month from your Thunder Roads Magazine, the website (ThunderRoadsOhio.com), or facebook. 3. Ride out to these stops and show them your card or check in with the #TRO Hashtag on social media. 4. And then you win cool prizes, including cold hard CASH!

The first step will be for riders to register for their Thunder Roads Ohio Ride Cards. A number of select locations will serve as Registration Centers. Riders can easily register at these points – free of charge. They will then receive their Ride Cards.
You can request a Ride Card through our website!
You can now go online and register for your Thunder Run Ride Card through our website – www.ThunderRoadsOhio.com. Simply head to the TRO Online Store and order your Ride Card. There is a $5 convenience fee for this option – but ALL PROCEEDS are applied to our Warrior Fund, sponsoring charitable motorcycle events and organizations across Ohio.
PLEASE NOTE - You can still use your previous Ride Cards. All Ride Card registrations carry over, however you are welcome to pick up a new shiny one if you’d like.
Thunder Roads will also be registering riders for Ride Cards at specific events throughout the year as we distribute magazines. Key events, such as Ohio Bike Week or Bike Nights will have special booth for Ride Card registrations. In most cases, we will be offering special incentives both for those registering for the cards and those checking in with their previously issued cards at these stops. Thunder Roads will also be working with charities and various non-profit events to include them in the Run schedule as well. This will be an easy means of encouraging participation and attracting riders from outside the local communities. In many cases, we will have specific prize drawings for those at these events. The Ride Cards allow participants to easily and safely check in at all stops. Some Thunder Roads Sponsors will also be offering discounts to readers that present the cards. Thunder Roads will be listing special discounts and offers in the magazine throughout the year as an added value to readers and means of encouraging our partners to offer these extra savings.
PLEASE NOTE: Once you have received your OHIO RIDE CARD, you will not be asked to provide personal information or emails at any location for check-in. You simply enter your ride card number! One key aspect of the BTR is that we will be limiting the number of stops to a reasonable amount each month. We are NOT simply adding anyone willing to write a check. We will be considering stops recommended by our readers and editors, and we will only select those that offer a legitimate interest to riders – making them worth the ride to visit. We are not hosting the run as simply a means of supporting the magazine, but as a fun way to promote partners and cool destinations all across the state. This is not simply a “Chinese fire drill” or mad-dash across the state. This is a Ride program. It is meant to be a means for readers to discover new riding destinations and enjoy the ride there. In fact, we have designed the program to encourage folks to break out of their local routes and trek to the furthest corners of the state.
Just Get Out and RIDE!
One of the really exciting aspects of the program is that the Buckeye Thunder Run can evolve with new stops, special prizes, and other updates throughout the year! We will be adding and dropping stops each month. Readers will be able to nominate stops, we’ll investigate them, and if we agree that it’s a suitable stop – they’ll be invited to join the run. Some stops may only run a few months – and possibly not consecutive. A cool winery in Geneva might be a stop early in the season, and then we bring them back during the harvest season! We can also modify the run if it turns out that something just isn’t working. 24

OHIO’S MOTORCYCLE MAGAZINE
We want to keep things exciting for you – the readers and riders on the run. We’re bikers and it’s all about the ride. We want to help create fun experiences for you and share some cool spots in our state. And we want to discover new spots as well, which is why we are encouraging everyone to nominate their favorite riding destinations. Again this is not simply a sales tool for us or meant to subsidize the magazine! We have designed this run to entertain and challenge our readers – as well as promote our partners. As with the magazine itself, the Buckeye Thunder Run is presented through the support of our sponsors and partners all across the state. We have secured several key sponsorships already, but opportunities remain. If your business would like to get involved, this is a great way to promote yourself all across the state in a positive manner. Even if your organization is not a riding destination you might become a sponsor for the tremendous promotional value it offers through the constant media attention it will receive. Obviously this will be a heavy focus within the magazine but we are also working with radio and other media outlets to help spread awareness of the run. Sponsors are able to tap into this network and enjoy great exposure. Sponsors also have the opportunity to team up with Thunder Roads to help promote various charity events across the state. The Buckeye Thunder Run is a great vehicle to help promote non-profit events in communities all across the state. Thunder Roads is involved in countless charitable events all across the state already – but with the support of our sponsors, we will be able to assist even more. Partners can assist in the sponsorship of specific events, areas of concern (such as breast cancer, child abuse, or animal shelters), or other specific areas. For more information on sponsorship, please email us at ThunderRoadsOhio@gmail.com Of course one of the key components in this whole program, second only to the riders themselves, is the stops. The Thunder Roads team has spent a lot of time collecting nominations and researching stops for the Run; but there are undoubtedly plenty of more stops out there. If you have a venue or event that you would like to get involved in the run, please don’t hesitate to let us know about it. If it’s your place, we will get in touch shortly with more information on the run and what’s involved. If you are recommending a spot for someone else – we will reach out to them and let them know they have been nominated. If you can suggest a contact person, that can help expedite the process. You can send information to BuckeyeThunderRun@gmail.com or call 440-678-8608.
As we mentioned, this is a dynamic event – intended to be tweaked and developed over time. If you have ideas, suggestions, or concerns – please don’t hesitate to let us know. You can email us at BuckeyeThunderRun@gmail.com

Taking the Fork in the Road. We’ve all heard the quote:“When there’s a fork in the road, take it”. This summer has proven to be the perfect prescription by putting the rubber on the road and riding to a location that satisfies our culinary desires. I found that riders and food go hand in hand. Whether it’s a burger, BBQ, chicken, steak, seafood or a refreshing ice cream cone, eating with friends on a ride is a great time to share memories and make plans for the next ride. I recently took the “fork in the road” to The Barn Restaurant in Smithville, Ohio. This attractive rural location takes on the look of a well-manicured barn both inside and out. Located on State Route 585 just north of Wooster, it is easily accessible and is ride stop #4 on the “Wayne County Wonders” route of the 2018 Amish Country motorcycle tour guide. Upon entrance into The Barn Restaurant, you truly get the feeling of how this once working farm barn operated as a dairy. The lot is paved for easy parking and access into the restaurant. Inside, large beams support the loft in the dining area and can clearly be seen into the rafters as well as portions of the silo attached to the foyer. This historic barn and original house dates back to 1875. The original dairy barn was destroyed by a fire and was rebuilt in 1937. Remodeling of the barn along with a new addition took place in 1982. Inside the original barn houses are the current dining area and banquet facilities. The modestly priced menu covers everything from barn fries to steaks and homemade desserts. Dine where the cows were kept, farm hands worked, and friends gathered after a hard day’s work for a big farm dinner. www.thebarnrest.com While visiting scenic Wayne County, make plans to attend the Wayne County Fair September 8 – 13. This year’s grandstand schedule brings in big names such as 36
THUNDER ROADS® OHIO MAGAZINE
Trace Adkins, Sara Evans, Larry the Cable Guy as well as tractor pulls and a demolition derby. Come see me at the fair in the Wayne County CVB booth on September 11 from 4 – 7. I will be handing out the 2018 Amish Country motorcycle guide as well as Thunder Roads Ohio Magazines and Wayne County visitor’s brochures. Moving into the fall season, the county boasts its agriculture attractions with pumpkin farms, mums, homegrown wines and hand-crafted beers. www.wccvb.com Neighboring Medina County is packed full of events throughout summer and fall. The convention and visitors bureau is easily located on the Medina Square. Their staff is equipped not only to give visitors information but local residents as well. You can find the Amish Country motorcycle guide and current edition of Thunder Roads Ohio magazine at their bureau. Fair time is upon Medina County beginning July 30 thru August 5. Headlining the grandstand is Kane Brown. Take your ride to the fair and indulge in your favorite fair food! Buckin’ Ohio Bull riding, Draft Hitch shows, Motocross, Truck and Tractor pulls and fireworks complete the week’s entertainment at this popular county fair. I will be working at the CVB booth on July 30 from 2 – 6. www.visitmedinacounty.com I Hope you are enjoying your summer and making memories! Remember when you come to the fork in the road, take it! Sport Touring Corner By Norm Kern, TRO Contributor
Complete Guide to MSTA Fly-By Week
August 20-26, 2018, at Marietta Ohio Sport Touring Corner By Norm Kern This month, Motorcycle Sport Touring Association’s (MSTA) largest regional rally comes to Marietta, Ohio. Fly-By Week 2018, from Monday, August 20 through Sunday, August 26, offers a full-week celebration of motorcycle sport touring. Like other MSTA events, Fly-By Week is a riding rally during the day, so expect the parking lot to be empty, as attendees will all be out riding the twisty roads of southeast Ohio and northern West Virginia. Dining and socializing are done in the evening and there are plenty of fun activities on tap. All roads lead to Fly-By Week- fun ways to get there The southeast quarter of Ohio is filled with rolling countryside and great roads, so it’s easy to make your route to Fly-By Week into a personalized fun, twisty ride. To help you out, we’ve prepared routes to Fly-By Week from three different parts of Ohio.
When to go Fly-By Week 18 begins on Monday, August 20th and runs through Sunday, August 26. With more than fifteen suggested routes to choose from, you can ride a different route every day and still not do half of them in the entire week. Don’t be discouraged if you can’t attend the whole week. The Fly-By started over 20 years ago as a weekend-only event, where many left after work on Friday, made a dash for Marietta so they could arrive Friday night, ride on Saturday, and go home Sunday.
Over the years, those who had a bit more time began arriving on Thursday. Being able to ride rally routes both Friday and Saturday doubles your riding opportunities at the rally, making the trip even more worthwhile. Several years ago, several of us decided to make the Fly-By into a real vacation and spend the whole week there. The “early birds” had so much fun that we decided to open the event up for everyone who has the free time to spend and have expanded the rally to 2018’s Fly-By Week. Fly-By Week activities Every day is a riding day, but there are no large organized group rides at Fly-By Week. Attendees can choose one of the suggested routes, create their own, go sightseeing or whatever strikes their fancy. They can ride solo, with friends in small groups or sign up with one of the open groups if they are looking for someone to ride with. Monday through Thursday we have planned a series of dinner excursions to nice restaurants in downtown Marietta using a shuttle service. In addition to fine dining, this is one of the best opportunities to make friends and get to know fellow members in an informal small-rally atmosphere.
Fun routes to Fly-By Week They are available in both PDF map/instruction form as well as Garmin GPX format for GPS users. Download them at http://flybyweek.com/getthere.html
Friday is the first big day of Fly-By Week. There will be lots of riders arriving throughout the afternoon and into the evening- many more folks to meet, bikes to look at and new people to ride with. Ohio’s Biggest and Best SportTouring Rally is coming to Marietta, Ohio, August 20-26, sponsored by Thunder Roads Ohio Marietta, Ohio is located on the Ohio River in the southeast corner of Ohio, where the Appalachian Mountain region begins. It’s filled with rolling terrain and beautiful farming countryside. The roads are a nice mix of turns and elevation changes. Just across the river is West Virginia, with its own collection of great roads. Fly-By Week is the successor to the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association (MSTA) Mail-Pouch Fly-By, a weekend rally that ran for the past twenty years. It was originally named for the many Mail Pouch Tobacco-painted barns in the region, that rally attendees “fly-by” on their sport-touring bikes. Fly-By Week retains our friendly hotel venue, a great selection of fun routes, and our outdoor rider lounge behind the hotel with chairs, tables, and pop-ups where attendees can gather and socialize.
Food- Since many attendees arrive on Friday, there will be a Friday evening cookout, featuring brats and other casual food. For Saturday, dinner is on your own so those who want to ride a long route don’t have to hurry to get back to the hotel, which has complete dining and a well-stocked bar on the premises. There is also an excellent Mexican restaurant that’s an easy five-minute walk with no street crossings. Dinner Tours- Earlier in the week when attendance is light, enjoy social time and fine dining in downtown Marietta. We will have nightly dining excursions Monday Thursday using a local shuttle service.

For 2018, Fly-By WEEK starts on Monday, August 20, running through Sunday, August 26. While we still expect most attendees to arrive on Thursday or Friday, those who have time and want to relax and explore the area can come early for a unique small-rally experience. Complete info and online registration: http://www. planetreg.com/Fly-ByWeek2018 Here are some of the things you can look forward to: Routes- The centerpiece of any sporttouring rally is the suggested routes. Attendees come to ride great roads all day and socialize in the evening. Southeast Ohio and northern West Virginia are filled with great roads and this year there will be more than fifteen routes available in GPS and paper map formats. The hotel has a full-service restaurant and many attendees are planning to go to the excellent new Mexican restaurant that’s a few minutes walk down the street.
The best collection of routes you’ll find at any rally. This year’s routes vary in length from 130 to about 320 miles in length. All event registrants will be emailed a complete route guide PDF around August 6, so we can take road construction into account, yet give attendees plenty of time to review and plan. The PDF includes full descriptions, maps and instructions for the routes. Garmin GPX format route files, including tracks, will also be available to download for all routes. Easyriders Motorcycle Rodeo Returns to Chillicothe
Five-Day Motorcycle Rally and Festival Features Concerts by Fuel, David Allan Coe, and Wheeler Walker Jr. with appearances by Jasmine Cain, Cowboy and Miss InTENt
Easyriders Events is once again bringing its annual Motorcycle Rodeo at the Ross County Fairgrounds from August 30th thru September 3rd, where more than 10,000 motorcycle enthusiasts will converge for five days of on-site camping, dirt track motorcycle rodeo competitions on two-wheeled steel ponies, live concerts; from biker blues to hard-hitting rock. Plus, you’ll find the very best motorcyclelifestyle related vendors in the country, a ride-in bike show and much more. When the sun goes down, the party gets started at the stage. We’ll be rockin’ all weekend starting Friday night with Wheeler Walker Jr. who will be setting the tone for a wild weekend with his undeniably offensive but inarguably hilarious country melodies, followed by Saturday night’s headliner, Fuel, who are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their hit album Sunburn, and finally wrapping up on Sunday with the legendary outlaw country artist David Allan Coe. Supporting acts include Cowboy, Jasmine Cain, Miss InTENt and MORE. A weekend wristband grants the holder access to all event areas, while a day pass will allow one-day access to the venue, limited to the event’s midway (excludes campsite). All are able to view concerts and attractions at no additional charge.

Easyriders Events offers all amenities on-site for guests including shower and bathroom facilities, allowing enthusiasts to maximize their time on-site throughout the weekend. “Easyriders Rodeos are strictly 18 and over events that offer unparalleled opportunity for participants to transcend their normal everyday lives and really let their hair down. For many, these events are an annual getaway from work, the kids and the stresses of everyday life,” says Kari Roben, Event Manager.

Easyriders Motorcycle Rodeo Returns to Chillicothe (Continued from P.53)
For those who want to get in on the Rodeo action, the dirt track offers something for everyone. Attendees can participate in the fan favorite NTC Drift Trike Races, sliding their way across the dirt in a race to the finish line or the ever-popular Barstool Races, in which they race –you guessed it– a motorized barstool against friends and strangers through a winding track bordered by hay bales. The action-packed races are just as exciting to participate in as they are to watch from the grandstands – as they always deliver unbeatable entertainment. There are a variety of additional events that are open to the public, and the sign-up cost of your first rodeo event is included in the price of a weekend wristband. Details are available on-site and all are encouraged to participate and truly become a part of the rodeo experience.

Good, Bad and the Ugly
It would appear a new trend is around. Getting tossed out of a club in bad standings, and then gathering up a bunch of other fellows who have been tossed out bad from other clubs, throwing on a diamond or Nomad Rocker and pretending people should respect you. Trust me, I get not fitting in with the program. After all, we’re all a little off in that regard. Not digging authority, not wanting to join an MC to be free of societies rules, only to be chained down by a bunch of club BS rules. But you don’t get to throw a tantrum once you’ve joined a club, agreed to their bylaws, got thrown out and then go start your own garage pop up BS and think that your new patch is instantly accepted in the National MC community. Oh sure, some knobs who could never cut it in a real MC might jump on your bandwagon as you are handing out patches at every bike night to anyone on two wheels to try and gain quick numbers, but the rest of us remain unimpressed. Don’t get me wrong, I am a firm believer that if you go to a club, and find it’s not a fit, you should be able to go to a different club later in life that is a better fit. But when you leave a former club, leave right. Follow the rules and protocols set by those who went before you at that time. Hand your assets in the club at church. Speak your piece as to why you are leaving. Don’t go out the next week and gather every knob at bike night and sew on a new patch, call yourself the leader and pretend the MC community to respect the new patch with the same reverence as the wellestablished previous one. Get over yourself. I see one in particular, who 60
literally stole the design of his former longtime established club for his new patch. Really? That’s the extent of your creativity? I’ve seen him post long winded videos online on MC this, MC that... blah, blah, blah. Wow, egotistical narcissist much? Might be some evidence as to why your former club threw you out in the first place. There are as many good reasons to leave a club as there are bad ones. All I’m saying is be a man, do it right, and you stand a good chance of retaining the respect you earned previously. If your former MC puts you out in bad
standings, so be it. If you cared about some of their opinions, you’d still be in their club. But don’t embarrass yourself by doing exactly what you’ve made fun of in the past. I don’t care if you’re out good, bad or you’re just ugly, always respect MC tradition and don’t make a clown out of yourself, as its happening way too often these days. My Road Name is Tabasco.. BUCKEYE FIREARMS REPORT
THE MAKAROV PHOTO AND ARTICLE BY: BRODY KENNEN
F
irearms technology has evolved heavily, since the end of World War II, across all platforms. It is debatable on whether the modernization of firearms became simpler or more complex over time. The materials have certainly changed but, due to optimizations for many different end-user aspects, it seems as if modern designs are more complex by comparison to the preceding models. The 9x18 Makarov handgun has an uncanny beauty about it and is very specifically tailored. The Makarov was designed in 1949 in the Soviet Union and remain prominent in the Russian Armed Forces despite the PYa (MP-443) being chosen to replace it. The Makarov is also still in service within the Bulgarian Armed Forces. In 1970, Bulgaria began producing Makarovs and eventually Circle-10 picked up the design. This handgun was produced in 1985 and the original serial number, in English, is IK-25-1777. The middle two digits are date codes. PW Arms imported the handgun into the U.S., but wasn’t the only importer to do so. Importation requires new markings. The importing company name and location, and model and origin are required; as well as a new U.S. serial number in the case of these handguns. They shipped with the original leather flap holster and two magazines. As with all firearms from the yesteryears, the Makarov feels like a machine – matching the looks. It’s a feeling that I don’t feel when I pick up a Glock or even something like a SIG P229. It’s a testament to the all-steel construction. I have felt the same feeling in older M1911s, Japanese Nambus, German Lugers, and Russian TT33s. They were meant to be workhorses and are tools through and through. This Makarov features red-star Bakelite grips which blend seamlessly with the bluing of the frame and slide. The Makarov is almost purely righthanded. The exception is the magazine release, which is directly behind the baseplate of the magazine. You can shoot it left-handed but manipulating the controls will be problematic. There is a lanyard loop, safety / decocker on the slide, and a slide-stop on the left side. The weapon is disassembled by locking the slide to the rear, pulling the trigger guard down and 62 62
sliding it onto the frame sideways, dropping the slide stop, and slowing pulling up and away as the slide moves forward enough to clear the guide rails. The sights are simple notched rear and bladed front. The sharp design specifications were smoothed out, but are still crude enough to be annoying, and it is best fired one-handed. Replacement rubber grips can be purchased, but they diminish the originality of the firearm. If you want to eliminate snappiness, especially if you have larger hands, then those grips may be a Godsend to you. The leather holster isn’t conducive to quick access in a desperate situation. The leather would catch on both the safety / decocker and the front of the magazine. The issue prevented full and immediate holstering and it is my assumption that the quality of the holsters is universal.
Unfortunately, the Bulgarian production Makarovs are still not classified as Curio & Relic firearms, by the ATF, as the Russian and East German models are. If you have a C&R license, you won’t be able to obtain these through that avenue. As the years go by, and as with all other surplus firearms, the prices continue to rise as collectors snatched up what they want. Whether you are simply looking for something different or something new to collect, a Makarov will perfectly compliment a collection. Our family of highly effective pro-gun organizations includes Buckeye Firearms Association, Buckeye Firearms Foundation, and Buckeye Firearms Association PAC. Buckeye Firearms Association (BFA) is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization that serves as the flagship of our grassroots efforts to defend and advance the right of citizens to own and use firearms for all legal activities, including self-defense, hunting, competition, and recreation. BFA works to pass pro-gun legislation, educate the public through ongoing media relations, provide high-quality firearm classes, and make available a wide variety of resources for gun owners. While anti-gun groups get their funding and support from wealthy activists or big corporations, BFA gets its funding and support from citizens like you who value their Constitutional rights. www.buckeyefirearms.org

RECIPES
French Onion Chicken Sandwich Serves 4 (or 2 hungry bikers) 2 lg boneless, skinless chicken breast 2 large onion, thinly sliced 4 tbsp chicken stock (or water) 2 cups grated swiss cheese 1 tbsp garlic, minced 1 tsp. dried thyme handful of baby spinach mayonnaise salt pepper olive oil 4 burger buns
This is so easy, Im not sure its really a recipe. Its one of my chop mix and serve salads I LOVE to make in the summer! Cucumber, Tomato, Pesto Salad Serves 4-6 (or 3 hungry bikers) 3 - 4 large cucumbers 10 - 12 roma tomatoes ½ cup premade pesto sauce ½ cup parmesan cheese
Heat some olive oil in a skillet and add the onions. Cook the onions over medium-low about half way through, stirring occasionally Deglaze with 2 tbsp chicken stock (or water) and stir to scrape up the stuck-on bits.
Peel the skin off your cucumbers then cut off both ends Cut each cucumber in half, lengthwise, then each half in half again, lengthwise (so you have 4 long pieces of each cucumber)
Once the onions are nicely caramelized, about 20 to 30 minutes, add the garlic and cook for a minute more.
Cut the cucumber into bite size pieces and add to a medium sized bowl
Remove to a bowl and cover it with foil. Add a little more oil to the pan and return to the heat.
Cut the top end off of each tomato, then dice into bite size pieces (about the same size as the cumber bits)
Cut each chicken breast in half, like you would if you were butterflying it but cut all the way through
Dump in ½ cup of your favorite premade pesto and the parmesan cheese, mix and serve.
Season both sides of the chicken breast halves with salt, pepper, and the dried thyme.
**If you are not going to serve right away, don’t mix in the pesto and cheese until service as it will cause the veggies to leach their fluids out a bit. Just not as yummy that way
Add to the pan and cook the chicken over medium low heat Add in 2 tbsp chicken stock about half way through and cover with a lid
Have a recipe that you’d like to share? Write it all down and send with a picture – to ThunderRoadsOhio@gmail.com Put RECIPE in the subject line. If we use it, we’ll send you copies of the magazines and a TRO T-Shirt – so include your address and t-shirt size as well! Thanks! - The Iron Cowboy
Once chicken is nicely browned on both sides, turn off the heat Pile the cooked onions on top, then add the cheese Replace the lid and allow the cheese to melt in the residual heat in the pan Spread mayo on bottom half of the bun, pile on baby spinach Place the chicken breast on top of spinach, add the top bun and CHOW DOWN!!

FUNNY STUFF BECAUSE EVERYONE NEEDS A GOOD LAUGH NOW AND THEN... Father Tim Dempsey was making his rounds visiting his parishoners by riding his OLD motorcycle to their homes, when his bike suddenly died, and coasted to a stop alongside the road. Death Row A cowboy and a biker are on death row, and are to be executed on the same day. The day comes, and they are brought to the gas chamber. The warden asks the cowboy if he has a last request, to which the cowboy replies, “Ah shore do, wardn. Ah’d be mighty grateful if’n yoo’d play ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ fur me bahfore ah hafta go.” “Sure enough, cowboy, we can do that,” says the warden. He turns to the biker, “And you, biker, what’s your last request?” He responded with, “Please kill me first.” Biker Trade A biker arrived at his friends house to get ready for the big run that weekend. His thoughts were on the run as he walked up to the porch, he couldn’t help but notice the huge dog sitting next to the door. When asked, “is that your dog?” the biker responded, “Yea, I got him for the ol lady”. “No joke. I always kept my mouth shut bout your ol lady but, I gotta say, nice trade”
Father Tim checked the fuel tank, the gas filter, the plugs, but could find nothing wrong. He stepped on the kick start, gave it his best effort, but no joy, the bike didn’t fire. Gritting his teeth grimly, Father Tim gave it another valiant try, but again the bike failed to turn over. About that time, a wee lad approached Father Tim and asked what he was doing. “Tryin’ to start me bike, my son”, the good Father replied, jumping on the crank once more, with no effect. - “My pa has an old bike like that”, the kid offered. “If you want it to start, you have cuss at it while you’re jumping up and down”. - “Well, I’m a priest and I cannot cuss. Why, it’s been so long since I was saved by Jesus, I do not even remember how to cuss”, the priest said, smiling at the youth.
Biker in the Theater The biker lay sprawled across three entire seats in the posh Amarillo theatre. When the usher came by and noticed this he whispered to the biker, “Sorry, sir, but you’re only allowed one seat.” The biker groaned but didn’t budge. The usher became more impatient. “Sir, if you don’t get up from there, I’m going to have to call the manager. The biker just groaned. The usher marched briskly back up the aisle. In a moment he returned with the manager. Together the two of them tried repeatedly to move the biker, but with no success. Finally, they summoned the police. The cop surveyed the situation briefly then asked, “All right buddy, what’s you’re name?” “Sam,” the biker moaned. “Where ya from, Sam?” With pain in his voice Sam replied.... “The balcony up there.”
- “Well”, the kid said, turning to walk away, “just keep on t rying to kick start that pig, and it’ll come back to yah!” A guy walks into a bar, orders 12 shots and starts drinking them as fast as he can. The bartender asks, “Dang, why are you drinking so fast?” The guy says, “You would be drinking fast, too, if you had what I had.” The bartender asks, “What do you have?” The guy says, “75 cents.”
