Home Territories – Co-living Facility

Ladywell Playtower in Lewisham University Project 2022

Theme: Healing; how can space evoke/contribute/ support healing?

The humanitarian refugee crisis is a broader issue of physical, psychological and socialconsequences. The project aims to understand, explore and propose design solutions that could have an impact on positive change.

Exploring and expanding on the notion of ‘Home’, this option requires you to re-adapt the existing building envelope - Ladywell Playtower and re-design it as a co-living space. The co-living concept will display a creative model of living for members that promote community living and ‘sharing’.

Based on my previous research about Vietnamese migrants and data of POC currently living in Lewisham, design a Co living and Co working space for young professionals with background coming from Lewisham. This design is the solution of the living cost crisis and post-pandemic life in London.Open-plan offices are quickly becoming the new norm. On the other hand, with the movement to work from home, the idea of atypical office is no longer necessary . This project is the start of how get into office design and its spatial representation in society.

The Quarry House

Skyrise Competition Collaboration Ww2022

Stone as a material has been historically important in architecture, however the damage the quarries leave behind has bean a contemporary issue. Dalabole State Quarry, Cornwall was once the largest manmade hole until recently. Through our site visit, it was found that Dalabole lacked a tourism industry as well as any other outside of its slate identity. Delabole has recently had an increase in young adults settling due to COVID-19 and many companies supporting home working. However Delabole is a 45 min drive from the nearest station making it very inaccessible to larger cities.

By designing a skyscraper in the quarry we would bring new opportunities to outreach in the North of Cornwall in a smaller footprint. These would house a swimming pool, health centre, lego discovery centre, hotel, coworking spaces, a mall, rateuranta, cafés and entertainment facilities. The Quarry House is another testing playground for a future of where skyscrapers exist in abnormal location rather than clustering in city central district and questioning their necessary in future city.

The Quarry height is 95m from our selected ares to the height of the trail path around the Quarry From there the tallest windmill is 50m giving us a work area of 145m, perfect for a skyscraper.

Urban Cluster and Nowhere Office The Future of Workplace

From the perspective of the designer, in light of the continuously accelerating pace of urbanisation and social development, it is necessary for us to make predictions about the future and define the workplace of the next generation. From case studies and the ongoing phenomenon, the offices of the future will be more fragmented. Companies will want the workplace to be a place for the collection of information and the exchange of ideas rather than a private space, so it is likely that it will be another circle in the history of the office. If this occurs, it is possible that it will use the Burolandschaft office landscape as its model. when the office becomes an anchoring location, it is possible that office space will be fragmented in other areas, while headquarters would remain central but will be less relevant.

In this ongoing project, i use Peckham Levels as a testing playground for a potential future modular office system based on precedent researchs of Burolandshcaft , Herman Miller’s Action Office, zombie urbanism and the fragmented office process from City of London to other areas.
