The story that I picked as my inspiration to design in this project is "Clifford the big red dog". The story was written by Norman Bridwell the creator and author. The story is about thedog which was the runt of the litter puppies ans was chosen by Elizabeth as her Christmas present, but no one expected him to grow over 25 (about 7 m.) tall that forcing Elizabeth's family to leave the city and move to the open spaces of Bridwell island

Friendly Growing up

The narration was go on with the size & proportion of Clifford which during his growth as in the story. Size is concept of things that has measurements that are relatively greater or lesser than other things along certain dimentions and proportion is a relationship of the various objects and space.

Size separation The building divided into 3 parts ralated to the growth and story of Clifford which are puppy, teenager and adult, so there are 3 sizes of the house with connection.

The small part is place near the road, prepresent Clifford when he was a puppy and was took care by Elizabeth, so that he has connection with human.

01 Puppy

The medium part is place near the woods, inspired from when he grew up and go to the park alot for doing activities, so he get close to the nature.

02 Teen

03

The biggest part is place near the water which inspired from when Clifford help the girl from the river after she fell from the bridge.

A tempory settlement build up to recieve refugees. The camp all run and built by a government. Refugee camps generally develop in an impromptu fashion with the aim of meeting basic human needs for only a short time. Some refugees exists for dacades and can also stay in refugee camps for decades. Some can grow into permanent settlement and they also serve as headquarters for the recruitiment.

After the natural disaster such as flooding, earthquake, war, etc. people were harmed and injured by physical and mental, mostly on the children that have been through this, they can be suspicious because they weren’t feel safe. This project is focused on the shelter that made out of locals materials and easily find in the surrounding areas and also give the sense of protection as the main users are the kids in the camp.

Those can make children feel safe and warmth from dangerous things outside while living in the enclosure space.

Nowadays many residential buildings are built everywhere to support the amount of people who are the baby boomer and the generation X. Because of the human need, condo is one of the choices for them to live as a house , but as you know, living in the condo is more like a privacy space than a house, so most people in condo will not talk to each other because of their own privacy needed. Condo nowsday were designed to let people have their own privacy space while live in crownded city, so they can escape the chaos of the city. But at the same time they still need the common area or the space where they can share and talk to each other like a family.

The site is located near the famous landmark, Rama 8 bridge and Chao Phra Ya river which both give a good background panoramic views from the side. The site is also surrounded by low rise residential buildings and medium rise commercial buildings surrond the old communities that located around the site area.

Most of the houses inspired from the old an old Thai architecture style because the area before was a royalty area. Moreover the width of the road that connect to the village is very narrow and dense when compare to the number of the villagers who lived in the area, however, it can creates the diversity of the users and activities around the site.

The idea of the concept is from the communities around the site and the period of time between the existing communities and new communities so that we represent those idea into loop which one of the loop represent the old community and another one is represent the new community that come after but there are somthing that connect those together.

INTEGRATE

The idea of the concept is from our analysis that the site area is full with activities and landscape where attract visitors to come to the site. The rectangular shape in the center represent the site and and those lines surrounded the sire represent the direction of people who visit the site. The side that have density of lines represent the most way that people use to access the site.

Many things in our world would be changed in 2030. A lot of technologies would be create to serve human needs. These technologies and innovation would develop the habitation of human in many ways that human want it to be, including the power and energy that also need to use resources from nature to create energy or power which can cause and effect to our world in many ways that the resources have its limitation that not enough for human needs and those resources can be run out, however the energy or power that they use is created problems to our world as you can see around us nowadays.

SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE 2030 BIOMIMICRY PROJECT 3rd year studio Semester 2, 2016

Background People still do the activities which create bad pollution and cause the environmental crisis that we know as the global warming which is from the green house effect gas from period of time. This crisis make change of our world; the incresing of the temperature, the changing of the climate, the extinction of living things and decresing of the number of animals, and other natural disaster that will cause more and more damage to our world. Human who created this condition only the begining of the environmental crisis and the natural disaster. So shouln’t be start to do somthing to stop this bad situation before it’s too late.

this method is become popular to help the world in many ways, but the main idea of this method is to live with the nature. Renewable energy often provides energy in four important areas: electricity generation, air and water heating/cooling, transportation, and rural energy services. The renewable energy can be use for last long to generate power and energy and it is also friendly to the environment because of most of the resources are from nature which can be recycle and use it again to serve human needs in many ways.

Nakhon Si Thammarat also have many famous places or tourist attractions where tourists who come to NaKhon Si Thammarat would go to visit once. The old architecture style of houses and buildings still remain for the next generation of Nakhon Si Thammarat people nowaday. Baan Tan Khun is one of the characteristic and old architecture house of Nakhon Si Thammarat, but why Baan Tan Khun is not popular as other tourist attractions?

Concept & inspirtation

Touch the nature

Because of in the area around Baan Tan Khun is lacking of the green public space for supporting people, so i want this area to be the public green space by interate green into the building and around the site for local people and also the tourists who can come to visit and rest in this area and also they can also have relation with the green space and get close to the greenery even in the city that provide in the site moreover, resting and sitting around the site,

you can also have a nice view of Baan Tan Khun as a landmark of Nakhon si Thammarat of the site for those who want to take a picture which would convincepeople more to come to the site than before. The vertical garden is the way that i want to add green space into the site because the site itself is narrow and if add more green area into the site, the area can not support number of people who come to the site.

In one wall panel can be separate the composition of the plants into 2 ways. First is using the same plants planting for the whole wall. Second is mixing with different kind of plants which each pot and the gap that provided is relate to the height of the plants which in each wall panel can randomly set the rhythm of gap and height of the plants or can be set in pattern or modular also.

The third one, the composition of the plants pot is more in pattern and modular which play with big space and small space of horizontal line and vertical line

Design development II

I started with the simple form of gemometric shape and then I cut in half and started to add different materials into the form. Then I try to play with the different height and level of the buildingm and also shift one part up

1

3

The second one i divided the form into 3 zoning Which are indoor, semi-outdoor and outdoor

2

This idea is develop from the rst design that i split the form in half and live the gap in between for the circulation which connect two part of the building

Final design, I started to put green into architecture form which relate to the concept of touch the nature. Some part of the walls are replaced by stacking plant pot for vertical garden onto the building

Plants arrangement

Fountain grass and Crinum Lily height is about 30-60 cm. which is suitable for fencing because the fountain glass will have the blooming ower all year long which is good for decoration and the height is not block the vertical green facade, so people can have interact with the site

Plants which the height is between 5-15 m. will be plant at the front side of Baan Tan Khun Which will plant about 2 rolls, parallel to the building on 2 sides. The plant will set back from the building about 5 meters.

Lady Palm and Bird of Paradise is used for fencing at right side and back side of the site, because of the height and the density of the plants itself is better when compare to other and those can block the sight from the outside also.

The colorful plants and owers will be put on the stacking pot that provided in each building which will plant with combination of plants and owers of each season and also plant around the area to convince people to come to the site.
