Taichung International Animation Festival

In 2015, the Taichung International Animation Festival (TIAF) was established under the guidance of Informational Bureau of Taichung City Government and since 2017, the TIAF has been run by the Taichung Film Development Foundation. The TIAF is the only large-scale city animation festival in Taiwan. The Short Film Competition held every year provides the Taiwanese animators and their international counterparts a platform where they could share their experiences with each other; moreover, cash prizes worth up to 1.2 million Taiwan dollars in total are offered as encouragement. In the non-competition category, the films are divided according to the themes, allowing the viewers to see the diverse viewpoints shown in animation. In addition, a children’s art workshop and masters’ classes are held. It not only helps children cultivate an interest in art creation but also gives the Taiwanese animation professionals a chance to increase their knowledge.
