Women’s Resource Center
Services
The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) provides a full range of services to all students, faculty, & staff who are victims of dating/domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, stalking or childhood abuse. VICTIM ADVOCACY SERVICES A victim advocate is on-call 24 hours a day to provide: • Hospital accompaniment • Location of safe housing • Academic intervention with missed classes & exams • Emergency intake for crisis intervention on a walk-in basis • Help exploring legal & judicial options • Information & referrals • Assistance with crime victims’ compensation application COUNSELING SERVICES A licensed counselor provides: • Free & confidential individual counseling and therapy • Education/support groups • Crisis counseling/support for family & friends of victims

CAMPUS/COMMUNITY OUTREACH We offer a variety of programs on interpersonal violence. We can accommodate many venues, audiences, & timeframes. Topics include: dating & domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, adult survivors of childhood abuse, violence prevention, risk reduction, bystander behavior, & personal safety. AWARENESS EVENTS & ACTIVITIES October - Domestic Violence Awareness: Candlelight Vigil, Purple Ribbon Campaign, Clothesline Project, etc. April - Sexual Assault Awareness: Take Back the Night, Wounded Hearts Exhibit, Teal Ribbon Campaign. Spring-White Ribbon Campaign: engaging men as allies working to end violence.
FACULTY/STAFF PROGRAMMING Harbor Training prepares faculty & staff, often first contacts for disclosure, to assist victims of interpersonal violence.
CAMPUS ANTI-VIOLENCE TASK FORCE The CATF is a multi-disciplinary, diverse, & inclusive group of partners organizing efforts to increase awareness of campus violence & offer a coordinated community response to interpersonal violence on campus. FRANCES S. SUMMERSELL LIBRARY This library, a part of the UA library systems, is located in the Women’s Resource Center & provides a collection of brochures, books, DVDs, etc. which may be checked out for personal or academic use.
SHARP Self-Defense Training HOW TO CONTACT THE WRC Free 8-hour self-defense course designed for women offered To make an appointment, schedule a program, register each semester to all members of the UA community. for SHARP self-defense training, or volunteer, please STUDENT ACTIVISM & ORGANIZATIONS Unscripted: Peer educators using interactive improvisational theatre to address violence & social injustice. Young Women Leaders Program, Young Men’s Leadership Program, UA Women Leaders In Action, Leading Edge, WRC Student Leadership Council: Mentoring & leadership to work toward social change.
