LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura
Describing LAC Lugano Art and Culture as a simple museum would be a true understatement. In addition to visual arts, this modern cultural centre (inaugurated in September 2015), is also devoted to music and the performing arts, serving as an important point of reference for the whole of Switzerland. Its aim is to promote a rich program of artistic events and to establish Lugano and Ticino in general as a cultural crossroads between Northern and Southern Europe. Sarebbe davvero riduttivo presentare il LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura come un semplice museo. Questo moderno centro culturale (inaugurato nel settembre 2015) è infatti dedicato, oltre che alle arti visive, anche alla musica e alle arti sceniche e costituisce un importante punto di riferimento culturale per tutta la Svizzera. Hermann Hesse Museum / Museo Hermann Hesse
The little museum dedicated to the German writer Hermann Hesse in Montagnola, above Lugano, is one of the most visited in Ticino. A permanent exhibit set up in the halls of the Torre Camuzzi, adjacent to the Nobel Prize winner's first home, introduces to the forty years that Hesse spent in the South of the Alps from 1919. Collected are objects and works of this author, one of the most widely read in the world: famous are his glasses, the typewriter and the delicate watercolors. An excellent audioguide in Italian and German accompanies the visitor through the pleasant landscapes of the Collina d'oro (Golden Hill), dear to the writer. Il piccolo museo dedicato allo scrittore tedesco Hermann Hesse a Montagnola, sopra Lugano, è uno dei più visitati del Ticino. Una mostra permanente allestita nei locali della Torre Camuzzi, adiacente alla prima abitazione del premio Nobel, introduce nell’atmosfera dei quarant’anni che Hesse trascorse al sud delle Alpi a partire dal 1919. Vi sono raccolti oggetti e opere di questo autore fra i più letti al mondo: celebri i suoi occhiali, la macchina da scrivere, i delicati acquarelli. Un’ottima audioguida in italiano e tedesco accompagna i visitatori nei dolci paesaggi della Collina d’oro cari allo scrittore.

Located on Lugano's lakeside in the historic Villa Malpensata, the MUSEC (Museum of Cultures) offers a rich program of exhibitions and events dedicated to ethnic and oriental arts, photography, modern and contemporary art. On the ground floor the "Spazio Maraini" is entirely dedicated to historical and contemporary photography. On the first and second floors the "Spazio Mostre" hosts major exhibitions. On the third floor, "Spazio Cielo" allows you to discover new collections or contemporary artists. In addition, the "Spazio Tesoro" (with free admission) presents highlights from the permanent collections. Situato sul lungolago di Lugano nella storica Villa Malpensata, il MUSEC (Museo delle culture) propone un ricco programma di esposizioni ed eventi dedicati alle arti etniche e orientali, alla fotografia, all’arte moderna e contemporanea. Al pian terreno lo Spazio Maraini è interamente dedicato alla fotografia storica e contemporanea. Al primo e al secondo piano lo Spazio Mostre accoglie le grandi esposizioni. Al terzo piano lo Spazio Cielo permette di scoprire nuove collezioni o artisti contemporanei. Lo Spazio Tesoro (con accesso gratuito) presenta invece una selezione di opere delle collezioni permanenti.

Discover the charm of a lost world of over 200 million years ago. The Museum of Fossils of Monte San Giorgio presents the important paleontological heritage of the region, considered one of the most important fossil deposits in the world and registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fossils of San Giorgio are known for their variety and for their exceptional state of preservation. The exhibit is meant for a vast public and thanks to the use of multimedia technologies, it allows non-experts to immerse themselves into the complex world of the Triassic. Alla scoperta del fascino di un mondo perduto risalente a oltre 200 milioni di anni fa. Il Museo dei fossili del Monte San Giorgio presenta l’importante patrimonio paleontologico della regione, annoverata tra i più importanti giacimenti fossiliferi al mondo e iscritta nel Patrimonio mondiale dell’UNESCO. I fossili del San Giorgio sono noti per la loro varietà e per l’eccezionale stato di conservazione. L’esposizione è rivolta a un vasto pubblico e grazie all’impiego di materiale multimediale permette anche ai non esperti di immergersi nel complesso mondo del Triassico.

Sasso San Gottardo
Two museums in one, a once-in-alifetime experience allowing you to walk through the heart of the Alps along kilometers of tunnels excavated during World War II. On the one hand, the Sasso San Gottardo Museum looks at the recent past offering a visit of the military fortifications of the 20th century. On the other, it projects us into the challenges of our future with topics about meteorology and climate, as well as sustainable water management, mobility, habitat, energy and security. Without forgetting the wonderful crystals of the Alps, something unique! Due musei in uno e un’esperienza unica al mondo, che permette di camminare per chilometri nel cuore delle Alpi in gallerie scavate durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Da una parte, il Museo Sasso San Gottardo guarda al passato recente, proponendo la visita alle fortificazioni militari del ventesimo secolo. Dall’altra ci proietta nelle sfide future con i temi della meteorologia e del clima, nonché quelli della gestione sostenibile dell’acqua, della mobilità, dell’habitat, dell’energia e della sicurezza. Monte Verità
This hill in Ascona boasts a storied past that began at the turn of the 20th Century when the Monte Verità (Hill of Truth) became the heart of a movement dedicated to spiritual search and life renewal, which involved intellectuals, academics and artists coming mainly from Northern Europe. For two decades, the hill was infused with this spirit of utopia. Many traces remain as testimonials of that era. A museum itinerary, especially the museum Casa Anatta, and the guided tours allow an immersion into the very special atmosphere of this place, crossroad of Middle-European culture. La collina di Ascona vanta una storia iniziata ai primi del Novecento, quando il Monte Verità divenne il centro di un movimento di ricerca spirituale e di rinnovamento della vita che coinvolse una nutrita schiera di intellettuali, studiosi e artisti provenienti soprattutto dall’Europa del Nord. Per circa un ventennio il parco e i boschi del monte ospitarono lo spirito dell’utopia. Molte tracce testimoniano di quell'epoca. Un percorso museale, in particolare il museo di Casa Anatta, e le visite guidate permettono di immergersi nell’atmosfera di questo luogo, crocevia della cultura mitteleuropea.

Fondazione Ghisla Art Collection
Works by Picasso, Mirò, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Magritte, Tàpies, Botero, Dorazio, Poliakoff, Dubuffet, Appel, Basquiat, Vasarely, Bonalumi and many other protagonists of the contemporary art scene, plus those of a large group of young, emerging artists, are displayed at the Fondazione Ghisla Art Collection in Locarno. Designed by architect Franco Moro, the museum itself is a feat of architecture: a big cube covered by red wire mesh, surrounded by a small moat. The Ghisla collection is extremely varied both in terms of styles and trends. Opere di Picasso, Mirò, Poliakoff, Christo e Jeanne-Claude, Magritte, Tàpies, Botero, Dorazio, Dubuffet, Appel, Basquiat, Vasarely, Bonalumi e molti altri protagonisti dell’arte contemporanea, oltre a quelle di una nutrita schiera di giovani artisti emergenti, sono esposte alla Fondazione Ghisla Art Collection a Locarno. La sede stessa del museo, progettata dall’architetto Franco Moro, rappresenta un’opera d’arte: un grande cubo rivestito di una lamiera a maglie color rosso, circondato da un piccolo fossato d’acqua. La collezione Ghisla è molto variegata negli stili e nelle tendenze.
