Do you suffer from the mysterious FLC Syndrome? Many people do and don’t know it; furthermore there are no drugs that can heal this devastating syndrome. How do you know if you have FLC syndrome? Do you ache all over at times, does fatigue haunt you, and are you noticing multiple health issues such as digestive problems, mood swings and brain fog? Are your exams and lab tests coming back normal but yet you suffer with these symptoms? Many times individuals with this disorder are diagnosed with fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Well in plain English FLC syndrome stands for “feel like crap” disorder, which is probably a better diagnosis then fibromyalgia which in Latin only means “ my muscles and tissues hurt”, which is exactly what you told doctor. What ever you call it, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or FLC syndrome is caused by metabolic problems that lead to the loss of cellular energy. This loss of cell vitality takes place throughout the body especially in energy demanding tissues such as muscles, the digestive tract and the brain. This loss of energy in your tissues leads to pain and disability, plus research is now shows rates of earlier death from preventable chronic diseases. The wide variety of unexplained symptoms throughout the body and brain provide evidence to the fact that there is not enough energy to properly run and keep your tissues in good repair. This ‘gumming-up’ of your energy production (e.g. muscle, nerve, skin) primarily comes from metabolic problems such as systemic inflammation and oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is when free radicals’ from poor diet and toxic chemicals buildup in tissues and cause damage to cells turning on inflammation and pain. Drugs prescribed for fibromyalgia such as Lyrica and Cymbalta cover up symptoms and do nothing to treat these underlying metabolic problems causing the damage. There are some unique functional laboratory tests that I utilize to determine the underlying nutritional needs and metabolic problems in individuals with FMS/CFS or FLC. In virtually every patient I treat with chronic pain and fatigue, I find metabolic problems such as oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, which needs to be properly treated. Now let’s look at hypothyroidism, which is usually diagnosed after testing for TSH levels. Unfortunately just measuring TSH only catches about 17% of hypothyroid patients. To properly diagnose your thyroidal output you need at least eight different thyroid tests. A very common thyroidal problem is the inability to convert your T4 into the active T-3. This can even happen when you are taking Synthroid or levothyroxine, leaving you feeling hypothyroid even while on medication.. Then there is Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, the cause of 90% of hypothyroidism today. Hashimoto’s is triggered when antibodies from your immune system attack your thyroid decreasing the thyroid’s hormone output. If diagnosed very few doctors know how to stop the immune system from killing off your thyroid. To properly treat Hashimoto's disease these autoimmune triggers must be identified and removed by a doctor knowledgeable in functional medicine. There is hope! These conditions can be conquered when the underlying nutritional needs and metabolic issues are properly identified and treated, I have personally witnessed it thousands of times, even with my own daughter! Are you suffering with chronic pain and fatigue or FLC syndrome and tired of taking drugs for your Fibro with all their side effects? Are you confused because you have been told your thyroid is fine but all your symptoms point to hypothyroidism? Are you on thyroid medication but still feeling hypothyroid? If you answered yes to any of these questions it is vital that you attend one of my upcoming seminars to get information that can help you really heal. I will be presenting this essential information in my FREE upcoming seminars. Join me Dr. Greg Fors at 6:30 PM Wednesday, April 9 at the Johnsville library in Blaine / or Monday, April 14 and Wednesday, April 23rd. 7 PM at the Pain and Brain Healing Center in Blaine. I will discuss how you can reinvent your life, naturally. Seating is limited. For directions and to reserve your space call my clinic at 763-862-7100. ► On April 2, 1979, the world’s first anthrax epidemic begins in Ekaterinburg, Russia (now Sverdlosk). ► On April 11, 1951, President Harry Truman relieves Gen. Douglas MacArthur of command of the U.S. forces in Korea. The firing set off an uproar among the American public, but Truman remained committed to keeping the conflict in Korea limited. Eventually the American people understood that MacArthur’s policies might have led to a massively expanded war in Asia.¥ On April 10, 1963, the USS Thresher, an atomic submarine, sinks in the Atlantic Ocean, killing the entire crew when it unexpectedly plunged to the sea floor 300 miles off the coast of New England. A subsequent investigation revealed that a leak in a silver-brazed joint in the engine

CELINE DION Born into a musically gifted family, Celine Dion is the youngest of 14 children. Her parents were both musicians and raised their children to be involved with music as well. • Celine Marie Claudette Dion was born on March 30, 1968, in the rural French Canadian town of Charlemagne, Quebec, about 30 miles (48 km) east of Montreal. Celine’s parents were the operators of a small club where the entire family performed on weekends. • Celine composed a French song, along with her mother and one of her brothers, when she was only twelve. When the demo tape with that song wound up in the hands of René Angélil, a personal manager, the course of Celine’s life was forever changed. • Amazed by Dion’s voice, Angélil was intent on making Celine famous in January, 1981. He mortgaged his own home to finance the recording of Celine Dion’s debut album! (She was only 13!) • By 1982, Dion was receiving international attention. She won the Gold Medal at the Yamaha World Song Festival in Tokyo in 1982. In 1983, she was the first Canadian to ever receive a Gold Record in France. • By the age of 18, Dion had nine French albums recorded and many awards. Her first English language album was recorded in 1990, containing the hit single, Where Does My Heart Beat Now. • The real breakthrough album that propelled Dion to international stardom was her second English album, recorded in 1992, The album, Celine Dion, featured the theme song for Disney’s animated hit, Beauty and the Beast.
She and Peabo Bryson, chosen to sing the duet, were rewarded with the hit reaching worldwide audiences. • Celine Dion, became Dion’s first gold record in the U.S. and more than 12 million copies were sold internationally. She has earned awards from all over the world: Juno and Felix Awards in Canada, Grammys in the U.S., and many more. • Dion announced at a New Years’ Eve 1999 concert that she would be taking some time off to start a family. She and husband, René, welcomed a baby boy, René-Charles Angélil, into their lives on January 25, 2001. After a two-year absence, Celine released a new album, “A New Day Has Come” in March, 2002. • Dion began a three-year contract to appear at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in March, 2003. Her commitment was to appear five nights a week in The Colosseum, built especially for her and her show, “A New Day.” The 90-minute show was a “fusion of song, performance art, theatrical innovation and state-of-the-art technology.” The theater cost approximately $95 million! • On October 23, 2010, Dion gave birth to twin boys, Nelson and Eddy. The mother of 3 boys returned to the stage in Las Vegas on March 15, 2011. • Her new show features her biggest hits as well as classics from other artists. There is a full orchestra and band and 31 other musicians are featured in the 4,300 seat venue. Within a month of her return to Caesars Palace, the new show climbed to the #1 spot on Billboard’s Boxscore chart, which lists the top grossing concerts in North America. • Dion released her first English album in six years, Loved Me Back to Life, on November 5, 2013. Celine is the bestselling Canadian artist of all time and the second bestselling female artist in the United States.

• Joakim Lehmkuhl was president of the Waterbury Watch Company of Connecticut. He had purchased the small business just before World War II and saw sales soar when they started making timing fuses for the war. When the war ended and sales slumped, Lehmkuhl went looking for new ways to promote watches. After designing an inexpensive and nearly indestructible watch, Lehmkuhl named it Timex and sent his salesmen to jewelry stores to market it for the extraordinarily low price of $6.95. • Jewelers, who were accustomed to selling watches for $100 and making a $50 profit, snubbed the new watches. When salesmen hurled the watches against walls to demonstrate their indestructibility, jewelers only thought of all the money they would lose by no longer needing to repair them. So Lehmkuhl sent his salesmen to drugstores and dimestores, where the watches sold well. • The campaign touting the product's indestructibility was begun with golfer Ben Hogan shown with a watch strapped to his club and Mickey Mantle pictured with a watch attached to his Louisville Slugger. But the campaign really gathered speed when the company came out with a display that allowed shoppers to use levers to dunk a watch into water, then drop it on an anvil where it would be struck with a hammer. Such a display, which would have been unseemly in posh jewelry stores, was a hit in local drugstores. • In 1956, John Cameron Swayze started the series of "It keeps a licking and keeps on ticking" torture tests done live on TV. Watches were tossed into paint mixers, attached to surfboards, a racehorse's leg, and the wrist of a high diver. Professional boxer Rocky
Marciano wore a Timex during a punishing boxing routine. (cont’d next page) • Professional figure skater Barbara Ann Scott strapped a Timex to her skate. Watches were frozen in ice cube trays, taped to lobster claws in tanks, tossed over Grand Coulee Dam, attached to an archer’s arrow tip that was shot through a pane of glass, strapped to a tackle line and cast off a deep-sea fishing boat, attached to the pontoon of a plane that landed on water, and swallowed by a farmer’s cow. In one ad, Swayze stood by as a dolphin tested the watch in a series of jumps at Marine World. Another featured Timex watches strapped to the bellies of Sumo wrestlers. Then there was the one which showed a psychic with mind power that could bend a fork, but couldn’t stop a Timex. Another had an opera singer’s shrill voice shattering every object in the opera hall – except the watch. • For 20 years, John Cameron Swayze sent watches through torture tests to demonstrate that they "take a licking and keep on ticking." However, one commercial was done live on the Steve Allen Show. Swayze strapped a Timex to an outboard motor in a tank of water on the set. After the propeller quit spinning, the watch was nowhere to be found. Swayze slogged through the tank swearing, “It worked perfectly during rehearsals!” while Allen laughed himself hysterical off-stage. Swayze finally reported the watch was “probably still ticking” at the bottom of the tank. • Viewers sent in 1,000 suggestions a month for new tests. By 1960, 30% of all watches sold were Timex. By 1963, nearly half the watches sold in the U.S. were from Timex. By 1967, it was the world’s best-selling watch brand. • The slogan “It takes a licking and keeps on ticking” remains one of the top rated ad campaigns — ranked No. 40 by Advertising Age on its list of the top 100 campaigns of the 20th century.

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'. The teacher asked, 'What if Jonah went to hell?' The little girl replied, 'Then you ask him'.
A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As she got to one little boy who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The boy replied, 'I'm drawing God.' The teacher paused and said, 'But no one knows what God looks like.' Without missing a beat, or looking up from his drawing, the little boy replied, They will in a minute.'

High-Tech Gadgets Track Our Health
Kaiser Health News took a look recently at some of the possibilities of remote monitoring by high-tech health gadgets. These devices can fit into your cellphone and allow your doctor keep track of your health, even if you’re not in his office. For example, if your heart rate accelerates while you’re doing your daily errands, the doctor will know it when he reads the information. Some devices can tell whether we’re taking pills on time. Others fit under the mattress on our bed to check breathing and heart rate. Still others can check our glucose levels or blood pressure. That’s not to say most doctors are jumping on these devices as being the latest and greatest. While they like the information that can be gathered, some doctors are concerned about patient privacy. The information doesn’t go straight into patient records, but the day eventually will come when it will. At this point, patients must give permission for their information to be taken and must go into the doctor’s office to have the data transferred. Soon patients will be able to send it themselves over the Internet. In a preview of coming events, one device developer already is hooked up with advertisers and labs. Insurance companies are encouraging patients to upload their information from other devices. Many of the devices aren’t yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Are you nervous about this yet? What if you knew your information would go over the Internet, or if you knew it wasn’t always covered by health privacy laws? If you’re asked to wear one of these new gadgets, ask questions about where the information goes ... lots and lots of questions.

by Samantha Weaver ● It was nonviolent Indian activist Mahatma Gandhi who made the following sage observation: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” ● Beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss had a hobby that few people were aware of: He collected hats. ● With the summer holidays approaching, you might want to keep in mind this tidbit: Every year, 75,000 stuffed animals are left behind in hotels. Be sure to check under the bed before you leave! ● Ancient Mayan warriors were known to throw hornets’ nests at each other in battle.

● It was 19th-century British author and social reformer John Ruskin who made the following sage observation: "In order that people may be happy in their work, these three things are needed: they must be fit for it; they must not do too much of it; and they must have a sense of success in it."

● If you’re like the average American, you spend 38 hours in traffic every year. If you live in Chicago, you’re stuck for 46 hours. If you’re unlucky enough to be driving in Los Angeles, you’ll be at the mercy of traffic for a whopping 72 hours every year.
● If you have ever been pregnant (or known someone who has), you might be familiar with a condition sometimes known as "momnesia" or "prego-brain." It seems pretty common for pregnant women to forget names, misplace keys and sometimes even make it to work while still wearing their fuzzy slippers. You might be surprised to learn that there is science to support the existence of this phenomenon: Brain scans show that during pregnancy, some of the blood flow in a woman's brain shifts from the forebrain, responsible for shortterm memory and multitasking, to the hindbrain, which takes care of the basics of survival. So the next time you see a pregnant woman in the grocery store wearing bunny slippers, give her a break; she's building a new person.

On March 31, 1918, Daylight Saving Time went into effect – briefly – for the first time in history. Come along with Tidbits as we remember this historic event by trying to figure out what the heck time it is anyway. MASS CLOCK CONFUSION • In the good old days, the time of day varied by one minute for every 13 miles (21 km) traveled east to west. Noon was whenever the sun was overhead any particular town. Cities only a few hundred miles apart had times that were quite different. This didn’t matter much when people rarely traveled more than a few miles from home. But when railroads started transporting people long distances, things got complicated. It made scheduling trains hard. • When it was noon in Chicago, it was 12:31 in Pittsburgh, 12:17 in Toledo; 11:50 in St. Louis; 11:39 in St. Paul; and 11:27 in Omaha. The train station in Pittsburgh had six clocks showing six local times. Wisconsin had 38 different time zones, all within the same state. Railroads had nearly 300 time zones across the nation. It was difficult to prevent trains from crashing with so much confusion. • A Connecticut man named Charles Dowd suggested the solution. Because there are 24 hours in a day, he divided the Earth’s 360 degrees by 24, creating 24 time zones separated by 15 degrees. Continued Pg. 2
