“Some of our customers, for instance, like to change with the seasons — darker colors in fabrics especially for fall and winter and back to lighter colors for spring. Then some like to make other changes, a new accent chair or scatter rugs. And comfort seems to be a big thing lately, so our sales of recliners will probably increase around the holidays.”

Thanksgiving and Christmas speak for themselves, however. Other things may be added, but as far as color is concerned, Thanksgiving will always be brown, orange and yellow, while Christmas will always be red and green, said Scarborough.
Although many of our customers are happy with traditional decorating, we do keep abreast of what is going on, Scott added.
“We attend shows and watch any specials that happen to be on TV. In fact, Dusty and Ashlyn are going to a show in High Point, North Carolina, soon,” she said.
“We want our customers to trust us,” Scarborough went on, “so we make sure we’re informed of any new trends going around. And if any customer requests an item that we don’t have, we want them to know that we can always get it.”
