South African Championships of Performing Arts 2019 Monri Hoole (Gr. 12), has participated in the Western Province Auditions for South African Championships of Performing arts 2019. Nine Provinces were represented. Monri was included in the South African Team which will represent South Africa at the World Championships of the performing arts in Los Angeles, California, USA in July 2019.
Karate Anel Tallie took part in the National All Style Championships. She won bronze in both the individual fighting as well as the team-kata.

HOËR JONGENSKOOL PAARL (t) 021 872 2875 (e) info@paarlboyshigh.org.za Conference for leader learners Paarl Boys’ High was invited to the 10th annual leadership conference on 1 March hosted by La Rochelle, sponsored by the University of the Free State for the 9th year. Many different schools were invited to attend this event which created a diverse culture among the students, yet everyone was there with the same objective: to learn and improve as a pupil. There were four main speakers who came to talk to the students. Firstly, Mariechen Vermeulen, a teacher at La Rochelle. She spoke about how one’s perception of life has an effect on your reality and had a very interesting talk on connected conscience saying that all people are somehow connected. Secondly, Dr Piet Croucamp, a genius in political science, who taught the pupils a lot about politics and the fourth industrial revolution. Most importantly he said that to be successful you only need three things: imagination, curiosity and problem-solving skills. Thirdly, Tracey Lange, a radio personality and TV presenter. Her message was simple: always work hard, as hard work pays off. Lastly, Vernon Barnard, a singer and songwriter who did not let his circumstances get the better of him. He said you cannot choose what happens in life but you can decide how you will react to the things that happen. Every speaker had a different message but an equally big impact on the learners in attendance. Not only did the students learn from the speakers but they made new friends at the event as well. The event was a massive success as every learner could go home with some valuable life lessons.

Baie geluk aan Minke Botha wat deelgeneem het aan die eerste Gimnastiek kompetisie van die seisoen in Somerset-Wes. Sy verower ‘n Goue medalje in die Bal-roetine en ‘n Silwer medalje met die knuppels.
Jontaye Jones, Lani Fuls, Ryann Marthinussen en Lelanie Steenkamp het hulle provinsiale kleure in Performance Art – Dans verwerf (Goue medaljes) en ook ‘n spesiale toekenning ontvang vir die beste Junior-Dansgroep. Hierdie vier dogters het ook die Wes-Kaap verteenwoordig tydens die Nasionale kompetisie (Talent Africa) in Port Elizabeth tydens die April-vakansie. Ons kan met trots sê dat hulle al vier gekwalifiseer het om SuidAfrika tydens die Talent Americakompetisie in New York te verteenwoordig.
Baie geluk aan ons swemmers wat die afgelope vakansie aan die SA-Vlak 2 Swemkampioenskappe in Oos-Londen deelgeneem het. Ons is baie trots op julle.
