Grey High vs Grey College 2018

Page 1

Welcome message from Grey High School The annual derby between Grey High and Grey College is, once again, sure to be an encounter that is played in a good spirit, with passion and with a great sense of camaraderie. The derby serves not only as an opportunity for our two great schools to compete, but acts as a weekend on which we are reminded of our common heritage and the traditions that have shaped our schools. As such, each derby between our schools is an important marker that reminds all participants, staff, pupils, parents and old boys, that they are part of a greater story and that their individual contribution adds to the rich history of their respective schools. An immense amount of preparation goes into this weekend. I would like to express my thanks to Mr Vlam Michau and his boarding house committee for all the hard work in setting up the Farmers’ Market; to Mr Bielby and his team for all the formal arrangements; and to Mr Daniels and his staff for making sure that our grounds are in excellent condition. A special thank you goes to Mrs Sue Atherton and her team for all the catering – the weekend would not be the same without our moms who give up their time to assist. I am grateful, also, to all staff who have worked so hard, giving up hours of their time coaching and preparing our sportsmen. Finally, to all parents, family and friends who are here to support your teams: your presence is always appreciated. This is a weekend to which we all look forward and I trust that it will be most enjoyable. Best of luck to all our boys – may it be a “Greyt” weekend for one and all. Christian Erasmus Rector
