EARLY B Kletsrym met ‘n boodskap!

Blitsvrae:

Op laerskool was ek by Triomf Primary en Hoërskool by Bethelsdorp Comprehensive High. Ek is mal oor enjins.

Watter tipe tiener was jy? Partykeer het ek gaan speel in my skool broek wat my baie in die moeilikheid gebring het by my ma.

Dit moet natuurlik voel vir my.

Bloemendal is ‘n baie ou gebied in Port Elizabeth. Ek was almal se kind en almal was my ouers se kinders. Al my liedjies voel soos my kinders, so ek kan nie rerig kies nie.

Kaapstad is ongelooflik, elke keer. Hoe sal jy graag onthou wil word? Die kort kunstenaar wie se musiek jou kon laat glimlag as jy huil, moed in praat as jy twyfel en laat dans as jy stil sit. Waarna luister jy nou in jou kar? Enige liedjie wat op repeat speel? Loufi – Hills. Glo in jouself (Daar is baie “Nee-mense” daar buite).

Hyde Park High Matric Dance 2019 The matric dance is undoubtedly every Grade 12s highlight of their final year of school. Hyde Park High held their annual matric dance at the Bryanston Country Club and the theme for this year’s dance was “Gatsby” which embodies grand elegance and old-world style. The Matric Dance Committee draped vast volumes of fabric and set props to create the ambiance for the evening, ensuring that the event was one for their peers to remember. The Grade 12 pupils embraced the dance theme with aplomb and had the evening of their dreams, dancing the night away. The 2019 matric dance King and Queen of the year were nominated by their fellow Grade 12s and Courtney Madziwa and Peter Mcgluwa were officially crowned on the evening. A roaring time was had by all and the event was a huge success.

PRIDWIN PREPARATORY SCHOOL (t) +2711 788 1116 (e) admin@pridwin.co.za Pridwin Hosts Successful Rugby 7s Festival Pridwin Preparatory School hosted the Pridwin 7s rugby festival on Friday 10th May and Saturday, 11th May 2019, in Melrose Johannesburg. The Pridwin 7s festival is the only 7s rugby event for preparatory schools in Johannesburg with the sole aim of growing talent and developing rugby across Gauteng. These teams represent boys from a range of socio economic groups and diverse ethnic backgrounds. The festive nature of the Rugby 7s provides the ideal vehicle to promote a love for the game amongst young players and their families and has become a much-anticipated annual tradition. The schools taking part in the 2019 festival included Pridwin, CBC, St David’s, St John’s, St Benedict’s, St Peter’s, St Stithians, Orchards Primary, KEPS and The Ridge. In a fantastic finish, Pridwin won the 2019 tournament. The results were as follows; 1st place Pridwin with 41 tries, in 2nd place Orchard’s with 39 tries and in 3rd place St Johns with 29 tries. Rugby 7s is now recognized as an Olympic sport and made its debut in the 2016 Summer Olympics. The game originated in Melrose, Scotland, and now some 130 years later, it is being played in Melrose Johannesburg. 7s tournaments are traditionally known for having more of a relaxed atmosphere than traditional rugby games and different rules, such as; seven players instead of 15, scrums are made up of just three players from each team instead of eight, games are shorter with six-minute halves, all conversion attempts must be drop kicked and the team which has just scored kicks off as opposed to the conceding team. Fans frequently attend 7s tournaments in fancy dress and there is a festival celebratory atmosphere. Pridwin was honoured to have a prestigious line up with 10 of the top Independent Schools in Gauteng, with their top performing rugby players having the opportunity to demonstrate their skills. Well done to all the exceptional young talent on a great display of skill and to Pridwin for hosting an outstanding, well run and well attended community event.

BRYANSTON PRIMARY SCHOOL (t) 011 7061263 (e) newsletter@bryanstonprimary.co.za Annual Bryanston Primary Six-a-side Tournament Scores success On Saturday 18th May 2019 Bryanston Primary hosted the 50th edition of their popular six-a-side tournament featuring the best talent in netball and soccer in the northern suburbs. Bryanston Primary has a proud 66-year heritage for delivering high standards of academic education, specialised education programmes, a wide variety of extra murals and is a very well managed and supported the school. This year the following primary schools entered they’re under 10, 11, 12 and open teams in the netball and soccer competitions: Bryanston, Montrose, Bryneven, Bryandale and Bordeaux. The format involved a round robin concluding with a final match between the 2 teams with the highest points per category. The six-a-side format has proven to be an exciting format where many matches can be played in shortened time and on smaller fields for the soccer matches. The hard-fought matches in such quick succession also tested the fitness and endurance levels of the participants. After a well-attended event, the victors on the day were Bryandale taking both the Netball and Soccer Trophies – well-done Bryandale!

There were delegates from 40 different schools across South Africa. The keynote speakers highlighted the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the exploration of Artificial Intelligence and importance of Digital Citizenship. Over 20 breakaway sessions were on offer that covered topics from Coding and Robotics to integration of technology in the classroom, and screen time choice to Augmented Reality, to just mention a few. Pepper the robot, made a special appearance to introduce a keynote speaker, which proved to be a highlight for the delegates. They finished in fourth position overall in the tournament after they lost to Monument by three goals to nil in the third and fourth place playoffs. The 1st team participated at Aitken where they opened their account with a one nil loss to Rand Park High, in the second match they showed character and went on to beat Waterstone College by two goals to nil. The win against Waterstone was a motivation to the boys as they went on to reach the final of the tournament after winning their next four rounds of matches having beaten four schools to reach the final of the tournament which they unfortunately lost by a single goal to nil. The 1st team finished the tournament in position two overall. We are proud of the boys for their wonderful achievement.
