BOONTON FIRE HOUSE N
2ND FLOOR
SITE PLAN SCALE: 1/32” = 1’-0” UP
MY FIREHOUSE IS CREATED IN A CONTEMPORARY MANNER THAT FITS IN WITH THE TOWN OF BOONTON BY TAKING ELEMENTS FOUND IN THE CITY’S HISTORY. ONE OF THE MAIN DRIVING FORCES BEHIND MY DESIGN WAS RIBBONING. I DECIDED THAT MY BUILDING SHOULD BE A CONTINUOUS RIBBON THROUGH CURVES SO THAT MY FIREHOUSE WOULD CONTRAST THE TOPOGRAPHY OF THE SITE. THE SECOND FLOOR HAS A SLIGHT INTERSECTION WITH THE BAY ARE TO SIGNIFY THE 3 MAIN HEIGHT AREAS IN THE BUILDING (10, 14, & 20 FEET). IT ALSO CANTILEVERS SO THAT THERE IS A SHADED SPACE UNDER FOR THE ENTRANCE AND OUTDOOR AREA.

I DISCOVERED THROUGH AN EARLIER SITE ANALYSIS THAT HISTORICAL BUILDINGS IN BOONTON TENDED TO HAVE AN ELEMENT THAT YOU WERE ABLE TO SEE FROM FAR AWAY. I TOOK THIS INTO CONSIDERATION BY MAKING THE DECISION TO HAVE A TRADITIONAL HOSE DRYING TOWER. 6
