SPOTLIGHT Tiffin University is excited to announce that Stacy Jenkins is the new Manager of the Northwest Ohio Academic Center. Stacy began her employment with Tiffin University on February 6, 2012. Prior to her position with Tiffin University, Stacy assisted Owens Community College students with their transition to Lourdes University in her role as the Transfer Advisor on Owens - Toledo campus. Stacy comes to Tiffin University with a vast amount of experience in higher education. She has over 10 years of experience in various positions within academics and student support services. She has served with Siena Heights University, Monroe County Community College, and Lourdes University and has had a lasting partnership with Owens Community College. Stacy grew up in Bedford Township located in Michigan where she graduated from Bedford High School. She went on to pursue her Associate of Science degree in Childcare Technology from Monroe County Community College, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and her Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Siena Heights University. As a first generation college student, learning to navigate through college brought Stacy to have a sincere appreciation for the work that was being done in higher education. “As a parent, working full time, trying to manage relationships, and attending college, I have lived busy. I know the importance of organization and time management, and what these skills have helped me accomplish. When balancing the various roles students have, having accurate information and a plan is a necessity. As the Manager of the Northwest Ohio Academic Center, I am excited to partner with students for their success at Tiffin University.� (Continued)

Bill Schumacher is the new Manager of Northeast Ohio Academic Centers. Bill oversees the Elyria, Brunswick, and Tri-C academic centers. Bill became a part of the Tiffin University family as a student in 1994 and earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Postgraduation, Bill was able to apply his degree in several positions within the workforce. Because of Tiffin University, Bill has experienced the difference a degree can bring. Bill is a father of three and is married to his wife, Jody, who also earned her degree at TU. Everyday Bill works to instill the value of a good education in his children. Now, Bill wants to help students realize the difference that an education can make in their lives.
Degree Completion Student Referral Program Do you know someone interested in completing their Bachelor’s degree? Are you looking for a little extra cash? The Degree Completion Program is looking for students just like you! Here’s how it works: All you need to do is put us in touch with someone who is looking for an opportunity to get back on track to completing their college degree. We offer a “referral fee” of $100 to any current student who refers someone who enrolls in the Degree Completion Program. The fee will be paid directly to your student account following the verification of enrollment in the program. There is no limit to the number of students you refer! Change in Tuition The tuition for the Degree Completion program is changing to $425 a credit hour (no books included) effective summer 2012 semester. If you have any questions regarding this change in tuition, please contact your advisor.

Attention All 2012 Graduates Graduation Requirements In order to make sure that you will receive your diploma on time, please make sure that you are meeting all the graduation requirements. If you have questions over any of the requirements, please contact your advisor. • Students must have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average. Students must also have a minimum 2.5 GPA in their “major” courses regardless of their cumulative GPA. • Students must have all of their outstanding non-modular courses successfully completed along with all of their program courses. Once all courses are completed, students should have 121 credit hours. • All balances must be paid prior to any release of your diploma or transcripts. If you are unsure if you have a balance please contact the Business Office at 419-448-3316. • Co-Curricular must be completed with 13 hours of Personal Development and 13 hours of Service Learning. • All students who received any type of financial aid must complete the Exit Counseling prior to receiving their diploma. Exit Counseling helps you to understand your rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower. It will also provide you with useful tips and information to help you manage your loans. Each year, an Excellence in the Field of Study award is given to one graduating student in each major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above. Awardees are chosen by the faculty for both their academic performance and their contribution to learning and life.

He participates and volunteers for numerous events which benefit, 3/25th Marines, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Cleveland Police Patrolman’s Association.
The faculty and staff of the Degree Completion Program are thrilled to announce this year’s Excellence in the Field of Study Award winners: Excellence in the Field of Study for Organizational Management – Megan Borich This year’s recipient of the Excellence in the Field of Study for Organization Management major is Megan Borich. Prior to attending Tiffin University, she attended the College of Southern Idaho and Idaho State University. She worked for 15 years as a Dental Assistant in both Idaho and New York. Megan has taken on a new meaning of multi-tasking all while being the model student. Megan juggles going to school full-time, working as a success coach, filling in for maternity leaves, and is a wife and mother to three beautiful children. During her time at Tiffin University, Megan was taking her full-time classes in the Degree Completion program, in addition to picking up extra outstanding classes so she could complete her degree on time. Megan has accomplished all of this with a GPA of a 4.0 in her Degree Completion courses. According to Dr. Lillian Schumacher, Dean of School of Business, “Megan is extremely bright and handles multiple projects in ways that seem effortless. She is one of the best students I have had the pleasure of working with. She is an exceptional role model for students and any opportunity I have to work with her as part of my team I will!!” Nancy Sullivan, Dean of the Degree Completion Program, states, that “Megan exceeded all expectations in my course, and that I am hopeful she continues her education beyond her bachelor’s degree”.
Daniel was recently accepted into Tiffin’s MCJ program with a concentration in Criminal Behavior. His ultimate career goal is to teach online for Tiffin University in addition to his career as a police officer. Excellence in the Field of Study in Professional Studies - Diana Nolen This year’s recipient for the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Studies Excellence in the Field of Study Award is diligent in her commitment to herself and her academic goals. This student is married and has four children; whose oldest just turned into an adult. She began her associate’s degree ten years ago in nursing, but had to drop out of nursing when her son was born with major medical needs. The family was given a devastating prognosis of two years so this student stopped school so she could enjoy her beautiful son for as long as possible. He is now 7, but his health care needs have kept her pretty busy trying to complete her bachelor program. Her major GPA is 4.0 and her overall Tiffin University GPA is an outstanding 3.94, demonstrating that even dealing with family and medical issues, you can be an excellent student and achieve success. Her instructors said she was a role model in the classroom and that she is driven to excel. There is no doubt from those who know her that she will continue to be successful. It is a pleasure to present Diana Nolen with 2012 Excellence in Field of Study Award for the Professional Studies Major.
Excellence in the Field of Study for Justice Administration – Daniel Celis At the age of 28, Daniel was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a Police Officer. Due to Cleveland’s budget crisis, Daniel was laid off, which led him to Tiffin University to complete his bachelor’s degree. Daniel, as described by his faculty, has established himself as a leader in the classroom and truly as a student who was meticulous and
