Fall is in the air!! The cooler temperatures, autumn breezes, and refreshing sight of fall foliage are all a welcome change for those ready for the sometimes oppressive summer heat and humidity to be gone until next year. Fall also brings with it shorter daylight hours and fewer opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Students who may have been spending considerable time outside studying and relaxing are now looking for space indoors to put in some productive study time. Please keep this in mind when coming into the SSC to study, get course assistance with a tutor, or just print off a paper. The SSC has been extremely busy this term with many students taking advantage of the increase in services and opportunities offered by the SSC. These are a few things to remember:
Please be sure to book appointments early for tutoring. Do not count on a walk in appointment being available, although on occasion some are. If you have to cancel an appointment, please contact the SSC as soon as possible so that the tutor can be reassigned another appointment If you are logging study table hours for a team, success coach, or other organization, please be sure to make it active study time. If you choose not to study (Facebook, watching a movie, talking, etc.) the SSC retains the right to refuse to give credit for that study time. Students on SSC computers should be focusing on academic work. Space is limited and many students need access, so please use those computers for academic use. Remember that additional tutoring hours, quiet room hours, and lab opportunities are now available. See the News and posted SSC signs for details. PAL, PASS, and Power Hour are there for you—use them as often as needed.
Great things have been happening in the SSC so far this semester. Your continued patience while we work through issues with high demand and tutor availability is greatly appreciated.
