ONE MESSAGE FROM
The Steering Committee What does it mean to be an Aspire Champion? AS WE CONTINUE TO DEVELOP OUR KPI ASSESSMENT SCHEME ACROSS OUR GROWING NETWORK OF MEMBERS AND CUSTOMERS, IT IS CRUCIAL TO ENSURE THAT WE MANAGE THE SCHEME AS EFFECTIVELY AS POSSIBLE SO WE HAVE DEDICATED AN ASPIRE KPI WORKING GROUP TO EACH OF OUR TEN SERVICE STREAMS.
Each service stream working groups will have an individual who is given the title of Aspire Champion. This person will act as the chairman of the group and will be given specific roles regarding the management of their team. As part of this role, they will also be the main point of contact and oversee each Service Partner’s performance to help maximise efficiency. So if there are ever any queries regarding the KPI scheme or you just need a point of contact, it will help to have this person to turn to. It is important to note that your Aspire Champion will not only be responsible for monitoring KPI scores but also for discussing these scores with service partners and the rest of the team. We believe that this will not only help to improve our services across the board but will also improve business relationships across the London Portfolio. We look forward to seeing our working groups flourish under the supervision of our Aspire Champions from the benefits they will bring.
Aspire KPI Working Groups enable us to have consistency of service delivery across each service stream, with monthly forums being chaired by the Aspire Champion. Karen Steer

WE’RE ALL ABOUT YOU ZIG ZAG’S BIG EASTER RAFFLE THE ASPIRE TEAM AT THE ZIG ZAG BUILDING DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING EXTRA SPECIAL FOR EASTER BY ORGANISING A RAFFLE EVENT. Tickets were made available to everyone onsite who wanted to participate, including Landsec customers. Thanks to the enthusiasm and organisational skills of Reception Supervisor Frankie Marziano and everyone else involved, they were able to sell 129 raffle tickets throughout the building. People were so impressed with the idea that they actually put forward additional contributions, especially when they heard that all proceeds would go towards The Honeypot Children’s Charity. In total, more than £150 was raised, to go towards the charity that helps ensure that young carers and vulnerable children get the support they need. Congratulations to Bywaters Sustainability Manager Andy Merrit for taking home first prize, a 48cm laughing chocolate bunny, and to the 2nd prize winner, a customer at Zig Zag, who went away with a set of chocolate eggs.

Above all, well done to everyone responsible for the raffle and for achieving so much in such a short amount of time.
ASPIRE’S MARATHON MAN Aspire would like to congratulate Ben Thomson from Landsec for his completion of the recent London Marathon 2018. The 26.2 mile race was the 38th annual Marathon and took place on Sunday 22nd April. An estimated 40,000 runners were expected across the start line in a race that was formally started by Queen Elizabeth II. This years event was officially recorded as the hottest London Marathon to date at a peak temperature of 24.1 °C (75.4 °F). As Ben’s application was unexpectedly accepted only a few weeks earlier he’d had less than two months to prepare. Even so, with a finishing time of 5 hours 21 minutes Ben can hold his head up high and be proud of his epic achievement.

ULTIMATE SECURITY, 20 FENCHURCH STREET
Krystian Baranowski FROM POLAND TO POLE POSITION
Located at the iconic 20 Fenchurch Street, right in the heart of the City, Security Officer Krystian Baranowski began with Ultimate Security several years ago before his journey finally took him to the ‘Walkie-Talkie’. More than four years on, he still loves the city’s leading landmark, showing the same enthusiasm for the building now as when he first arrived. Krystian moved to the UK from Poland in 2007 and after completing his education, he followed a career in security and has never looked back. His experiences from his former roles within Ultimate Security have equipped him with all the skills required to succeed. As well as his knowledge, when he was relocated to 20 Fenchurch Street, some of his old colleagues moved with him to the site, which made settling in all the easier. As his hobbies include power lifting and general endurance exercises, Krystian has also ensured that he is physically fit for any challenge ahead.

Krystian spends a great deal of his professional life monitoring security in 20 Fenchurch Street’s rooftop Sky Garden, and admits he still loves to secretly admire the London skyline from 35 floors up. When he’s not keeping a close eye on security matters he also enjoys interacting with visitors, helping them locate other famous landmarks across the London skyline.
Krystian enjoys the view over HMS Belfast and South London.
With over 1.2 million people flocking to visit London’s highest public garden since its opening in 2015, and with the venue being home to so many exciting major events, there is never a dull moment at the top. When back on terra-firma, Krystian ensures all searches are accurately carried out and that every safety procedure is strictly observed at the building’s ground level security barriers. Although this huge responsibility might prove intimidating for some, for Krystian it is just a chance to ensure that more visitors leave impressed with 20 Fen.

Krystian’s polite nature and firm but assured personality enables him to set an example for the rest of the Aspire team and his remarkably helpful and positive attitude to every situation regularly inspires colleagues. Despite the number of people coming through the doors each day, he still manages to tailor the experience of the sky garden for every single visitor. If he sees anyone experiencing discomfort in the queues or is notified of anyone with a special condition, he is always prepared to put himself out to avoid unnecessary problems. A large part of what makes this possible is the fact that Krystian has such a strong working relationship with every other person in the building. When asked about this, he commented ‘it’s all about cooperation, not just with the security team but with the cleaning staff, the reception team and all the other departments’. There is a clear understanding that every single member of the team plays a crucial role in keeping things running effectively. As someone who interacts well with his colleagues on a daily basis, Krystian is a member of Aspire who clearly understands the importance of the ‘one team’ ethos. His willingness to cater to the needs of every individual and to go beyond the demands of his role are a testament not only to his professionalism but to his character as well. 6

After receiving a variety of ‘interesting’ submissions, the judges have chosen four finalists and the movies have been posted to our Aspire Facebook page... • THE LUDGATE STOMP • THE TEAM STRIKES BACK! • BARBARA’S GOT TALENT • DASHWOOD’S KIDDA MAGIC A big thank you to everybody for impressing the judges and also to everyone for joining TogetherAsOne. ULTIMATE SECURITY, THE LUDGATE ESTATE
Sebastian Barriga AN INCREDIBLE ATTENTION TO DETAIL
Mention qualities like ‘attentiveness’ or ‘honesty’ to anyone working at 60 Ludgate Hill and there’s one person who is likely to spring to mind. This is because Security Officer Sebastian Barriga, often found at the Front of House, has been impressing on every level since he moved to this site in January 2017. Unwaveringly polite and ready to act at a moment’s notice, Sebastian always has a smile for customers and colleagues alike. As he always keeps a trained eye on proceedings outside the building as well as inside, Sebastian often notices details that others would simply miss entirely, something that he has been praised for. Between him and fellow Security Officer Nageen Jalal, nothing goes unnoticed on the estate.
find anyone whose knowledge of the job and the Aspire network comes close to Sebastian’s. He can identify most of his colleagues by name, company and even by their specific start dates. ‘Knowing people by name’, Sebastian comments, ‘is a key part of the job’, as it creates closer relationships and helps to create a more familiar, comfortable workplace for everyone. This is
Although he has only been based at 60 Ludgate Hill for a relatively short time, he already seems familiar not only with the staff based on the estate but also with nearly every regular visitor that passes through the entrance. It would be difficult to

especially true for members of Aspire who have only been onsite for a short amount of time, such as Receptionist Maja Slota. As he worked with Landsec for several years before starting his current role, Sebastian’s knowledge extends to nearly everything that the company has historically achieved, plus it’s values and mode of operation. When asked about the Aspire initiative, he commented that ‘there has been a massive improvement over the last couple of years’, especially regarding the way that it encourages people to get to know each other.

Sebastian enjoys a close working relationship with receptionist Maja Slota.
In addition to English, he speaks fluent Italian and Spanish, plus basic levels of other languages as well. This means that he is well equipped to deal with many international customers and to train new members of Aspire if English is not their first language. With this in mind, Sebastian shows a great appreciation for the LearnAsOne ‘Improve your English’ workshops hosted by Aspire. With a workforce that is so diverse, he feels that schemes like this are not only beneficial but essential for effective communication.
Fellow Security Officer Nageen Jalal ‘hanging out’ with Sebastian at 60 Ludgate Hill.
When he’s not busy overseeing everything that goes on at the Ludgate Eastate, Sebastian takes every opportunity to cheer on his beloved Manchester United at Old Trafford. When he finds time to make the trip up north, he also likes to explore the local areas as much as he can. As someone who spent many years living in both America and Northampton, Sebastian is used to adapting to new places and embracing new cultures. With his honest attitude, unrivalled knowledge and remarkable ability to adapt to different environments, there is no better person than Sebastian to welcome guests to Ludgate. 12

ne of the main goals of the Aspire team is to demonstrate professionalism and an unrivalled level of care for every person who comes through their doors. So it is always nice when this is recognised by members of the public or those visiting on business. Security Officer Sebastian Barriga was stationed at his post with the Front of House team when counter terrorism Professional Samantha Garwood visited 60 Ludgate Hill. After speaking to Sebastian for just a short while, she left very impressed by his alertness, his attention to detail and how engaging

After being notified of the issue, the NJC team, made up of Robert Martin, Arbeny Tabares, Wildrido Piedra and Marin Rupa leapt into action. All of them showed a great team spirit as they worked to clean up the mess as quickly as possible. Robert in particular was extremely helpful, as he not only assisted his colleagues with this but also completed a deep cleaning of the retailer stockroom the next morning.
Bob McCourt, of NG Bailey, also played a major role as he was incredibly thorough and dedicated when unblocking the toilets before assisting the clean up. He even stayed well past the end of his shift, clearly committed to seeing that the issue was resolved before leaving. The Aspire team received outstanding feedback from the retail staff members and the Area Manager, with all of them commenting on how the E OF RECO team was such a great AT help. They were able to turn a situation that might have caused PLAYER upset into one where the OF THE MONTH Aspire team was praised.
For their efforts, the team have been nominated by fellow Aspire member Louise Ody (above) for a Player of the Month Awards in Customer Service.

ASPIRE KEEPS ITS COOL UNDER PRESSURE
Fortunately, Loading Bay Supervisor Piotr Suchora noticed a floor washing machine on fire and at 14:19 called for immediate assistance. Gedi Tamasevicius arrived two minutes after this to find both Piotr and his colleague, Marek Kopycinski, fighting the flames with CO2 extinguishers. The dynamic duo also noticed that the cables connected to the machine were alight and with Gedi adding his efforts the flames were soon put out. Thanks to Aspire members from Principle Cleaning and CBRE, the fire was reported, contained and fully
