Cyclists of all abilities will find something for themselves, either on simple routes or on difficult ones with steep ascents and descents. Well-marked, individualistic bike trails worth 415km help you to discover stretched Turiec valleys and newly- built lookout towers that open up a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. Whether you are a fan of adrenaline disciplines or you just want to ride through a nice environment, you will find something for yourself in the Turiec Region.

Transferring through the Belá-Dulice Village the trail continues with an incline to the lookout tower in Kalník which offers views on the whole Turiec Basin and the surrounding hills. Nearby is the Jasenská Valley ski resort which is a frequent destination for cyclists, especially during the warm summer days. Riding downhill while following the red sign you continue to the Turčianske Jaseno, a village with the Church of the St.Margita which is certainly worth paying a visit. The lookout tower Na Tŕní above Turčianske Jaseno offers almost “Tuscan” views. The trail continues further through the Dražkovce Village to the Tomčany city district and finishes in Martin.

Following the red sign you arrive in Blatnica. This village is a starting point for bike trails through Gaderská and Blatnická Valleys. Riding on the unfrequented road, you continue through Folkušová with a mild incline to the lookout tower on Brotnica, which is located above the Village of Necpaly. Riding downhill you get to the Necpaly Village where you can take a walk by a Renaissance manor-house belonging to the four manor-house in this foothill village.

arked bike trail of picturesque landscape in quickly changing sceneries. The whole trail follows an asphalt surfaced road, best ridden by a road bicycle. The trail begins in a town called Turčianske Teplice, where you can visit Mikuláš Galanda Gallery or the aquapark. It continues on bike trail number 032 through the Mošovce Village, which is especially well-known for Ján Kollár, where many views open up on majestic Ostrá and Tlstá peaks that dominate the Turiec Garden.

Necpaly - Smrekov - Balcierovo - Necpaly
2. Necpalská Valley Cycling adventure beginning in Necpaly where you can stop by the small water powerplant, visit Notary - Local Museum, or the Church of St. Ladislaus. It is an undemanding cycling trail to nature’s beauty spots which leads along the Necpaly stream. This cycling trail goes near to the Necpaly spring called Lazce which is a source of high quality drinking water with incredible taste that supplies a big part of the Turiec Region. During the whole trip you can relish steep slopes and stone rocks which are surrounded by magnificent forests that partially provide a shadow during the trip. We also recommend you to visit Revúcky mlyn (Revúcky Mill) waterfall, located around 5 minutes on foot from Balcierovo. With a 390 m elevation this bike trail is also suitable for families with kids who can extend it by taking a break in one of many summer houses.

3. Belianska Valley

his recreational bike trail follows a green sign beginning in the Belá-Dulice Village, which for its minimal elevation gain (170 meters) is recommended for families with kids. The Belianska Valley copies a tourist trail to the Havranovo cottage where you are able to get refreshment and relax. To enrich the bike trail the waterfall in Došná is a recommended stop that shouldn’t be missed. It’s a 30 minute walk from Havranovo cottage by following the yellow sign. By the end you can also stop by the lookout tower Na Tŕní, located above the Belá-Dulice Village providing a view on the Turiec Basin.

4. Jasenská Valley

he cycling trail passing through the Jasenská Valley, one of the three ski resorts in the Turiec Region.
This recreational cycling route begins in the Belá-Dulice Village. The whole trail leads through the forest along the Belianska stream, where the challenging Vôdka footpath is also located. The indurated forest road, which is suitable for the mountain or trekking bike, will lead you with pleasant shade and a gradual incline to the end of the valley. If you are a fan of adrenaline activities you can also visit the Bike Park Jasenská Valley in the Jasenská Valley, which offers six tracks of various difficulties.

ycling trail leading through one of the most famous Slovak valleys belongs to the favourite localities, not only for cyclists but also for hikers. The trail begins by the Slovak National Uprising monument. Riding the bike on the asphalted road you will pass the Blatnica Castle before following the road under the majestic the Pekárová Skala Rock to Mlynčekovo. At the start of the Dedošova Village we recommend getting off the bikes and continue on foot to the Čertova skala (Devil’s Gate). Direct continuation of the Gaderská Valley is the Dedošova Village, which we recommend to visit with either a mountain or trekking bike. Riding along the cascaded Gader stream, you go through rocky straits, cycle under cliffs and admire nature´s beauties. The trail goes by the Škap gamekeepers house and Drobkov cottage, until you arrive at the end of the valley in the Veterné area.

he bike trail leads mostly through a flat terrain. Through Dražkovce towards Záborie, you get to the foothill villages of Sklabiňa and Sklabinský Podzámok and the green sign bike trail leads you to the Sklabinská Valley or the Kantorská Valley. From the Sklabiňa Village you can go to Sklabiňa Castle.

The trail continues through the Turčianska Štiavnička Village where, apart from the Memorial Room of the famous Slovak writer Ján Kostra, you can also visit a small railway museum and the very popular Teplice serpentines. Through the villages of Sučany, Turčianske Kľačany and Lipoves, and along the canal of the longest river in Slovakia – Váh, you get to Vrútky, town that is the starting point for hiking in the Malá Fatra mountains. The circular cycling route that leads through several villages of the Lower Turiec region finishes in this starting point.

medium difficulty trail leads from Martin into the Košťany nad Turcom Village, where you can get refreshments in a renovated Rocococlassicist manor house. Following the yellow sign you will continue though the Žabokreky Village, behind which opens up an circular view on Veľká and Krivánska Malá Fatra mountains. After 7 km you get to Necpaly, a village with four manor houses and unique Notary – Local Museum.

Through the Belá-Dulice Village, you continue with an ascending until you arrive at the lookout tower of Na Kalníku, which offers views on the entire Turiec Basin. Descending by following the red sign, you continue to the Turčianske Jaseno Village with the Jesenský Memorial Room and the Church of St. Margita with unique frescoes. The trail further goes along the lookout tower of Na Tŕní or Horný and Dolný Kalník, until the Martin-Tomčany city district to Martin.

ifty-nine (59) kilometres long circuit for physically fit cyclists, which leads through most of villages in the Turiec Region. The trail begins in the Blatnica Village and passes through many villages that are mostly off the main roads.

It continues through municipalities in the Veľká Fatra foothills which will lead you to the western part, to the Lučianska Malá Fatra mountain range, and through the Valča Village with Brčná ponds until the Kláštor pod Znievom Village, where the first Catholic gymnasium was established. In Turčianske Teplice you can go to the spa, water park and Mikuláš Galanda Gallery. Following the so called the Slovak National Uprising Road from Turčianske Teplice you travel back to the Blatnica Village.

medium difficulty bike trail which takes you from Martin along the green sign cycle route through the Lúčanská Malá Fatra mountain range to Martin (Stráne district), from where along the barracks you will join the old military road, so called “Tank road”. A steeper ascension through the forest will certainly be a test for every cyclist, but despite that we recommend this route for families with children.

After you ride mostly downhill from forests above Bystrička, a view will open up on Martin, the Krivánska Malá Fatra mountain range and the whole the Veľká Fatra mountains. From the lookout tower above Bystrička you can observe the whole Turiec region. Riding through the Trebostovo and Koštany nad Turcom Villages, you return back to Martin.

10. Martinské Hole Hills Cycling Route
T
he trail to Martinské Hole hills starts near the Turiec car camp, from where the former asphalt route takes you with an elevation gain of more than 800 meters. The combination of frequent turns on the road and constant ascension would test your physical condition and endurance. The bike trail takes you to the Martinské Hole cottages, which in addition to the unique circular views, offer traditional Turiec refreshments. Descending on the rocky road which leads along so called “Hodinovka” (one hour), the yellow sign and takes you to the Podstráne district, from where following the green sign you will get to the Martin city centre. Alternatively you can opt for a traverse route through the city forest park back to Kolónia Hviezda.

he marked bike trail leading over the Lučanská Fatra mounatin range to the Strečno Castle begins at the car camp in Vrútky and follows the green sign bike trail until you get to Saračníky. Many crossroads during the ascension would test your orientation, but it is necessary to stay on the green marked trail which leads you to the ridge itself, to the crossroads in Saračníky, which intersects the red sign. In close proximity there is a summer house which offers a place to relax before heading down to the Strečno Village.
