What is lume?

04

About the company Lume is a LED printer that doesn’t use cartridges, instead, it uses light. Lume uses a solid state light source that is simple and does not contain any moving parts. Digital LED uses multiple light-emitting diodes to create images one full line at a time. It provides a high concentration of light at the center of the dot and hence, delivers sharp details and rich color depth up to 1200x1200 dpi. LED print-head writes images directly to the drum in one step, enabling it to print in seconds. LEDs consumes very little amount of energy. Lume first started their experiments back in 1982. Through revolutionary refining, Lume can finally be mass produced to the public in 2032.The next generation of printers is eco-friendly, ink-free, and ever lasting.

Lume and the environment In North America, over 350M cartridges each year end up in landfills. Nearly 70% of empty printer cartridges throughout the world are discarded. Not only does wildlife mistake plastics for food, but it can destroy their natural habitats. The ink-jet cartridges discarded in landfills leak into soil and waterways. Water can also become contaminated by the ink cartridges and also poison the soil, effectively destroying the ecosystem for generations. Did you know? It takes 1 ton of water in order to purify the residual ink in 1 cartridge.
