Developing vocational skills We consider developing your skills in certain areas just as critical as your developing knowledge of finance or economics. Each of our bachelor programmes focus on the development of analytical and critical thinking skills through challenging academic content. Group assignments develop interpersonal and teamwork skills, while additional skills development in academic writing, presenting, and the use of research tools is integrated into each programme. You can also attend language courses free of charge.

Niko Böhnert Germany

International Business Administration “At Tilburg there are so many ways to get connected with other students from the Netherlands as well as international students – and it starts from the moment you arrive on campus, with the kick-off of Welcome Week.”

Dr. Henk van Gemert Academic Director BSc Economics “Economics is exciting. If you follow the news and its coverage of employment, competition, trade and capital flows, climate change, government regulation, emerging markets and so on – you realise that economic events touch almost every aspect of people’s lives. Studying economics challenges your brain, as most issues are complex and we need solid knowledge and instruments to analyse them. Understanding the mechanics of a modern market economy will enrich your professional life, whether it is in the corporate sector, the financial sector or the government.”

Prof. Dr. Henk Norde Academic Director BSc Econometrics and Operations Research “My research interest lies in the field of game theory. Recently I participated in a European Community project about the reorganisation of the railway sector in Europe. Our main task was to develop a tool for the division of the railway infrastructure costs among the different international railway companies using this infrastructure – this is a nice example of an application of cooperative game theory in practice. The BSc programme EOR is a very quantitative programme. You need a good background in mathematics when entering this programme. If you like mathematics, like solving puzzles, and like applying mathematics to real life problems in economics and business, then this might be the programme for you.”

Learning focuses on understanding how to formulate mathematical and statistical models in relation to problems in economics and business, and using and applying these models to real business issues to actualise effective solutions. Your ability to apply these models to problems related to issues around, for example, production planning, inventory management, investment, insurance and retirement will be invaluable in organisations worldwide.
