The following is a carefully curated collection of some of our favourite and best selling tiles, as well as some exciting new ranges due to arrive in late 2021 /early 2022. Since the arrival of Covid and the restrictions on travel, there has definitely been an increase in home renovation and demand for tiles. There has also been an interesting change in the type of tiles being sought, with a significant move towards colour, biophilic design and unique and interesting combinations. People are increasingly seeking something that expresses their own personalities and character and aren’t afraid to explore quite bold and luxurious designs. Large tiles, dynamic patterns and the creation of jaw dropping feature walls, are definitely increasing in popularity. Greens and blues are by far the most sought after colours, often paired with neutral earthy palettes and wood and metallic accessories. Our homes are most definitely our refuges, more so these days than ever before. It therefore stands to reason that people are increasingly prepared to create environments that are a source of calm and retreat from the stressful world outside.

FISH SCALE mosaics are believed to have originated in Morrocco in the early 18th Century. The design, also known as scallop, mermaid scales, and fans, was originally inspired by the rolling sea, and has become a popular design throughout modern interior walls. It is particularly sought after for showers and bathrooms, and adds interest and texture to any space. Fish scale mosaics can be installed in all directions for stunning effect, helping you create your own personal oasis. PA L I S S A N D R O B LU E PALISSANDRO BLUE marble is a divine natural blue sandstone with an elegant smoky blue character. It is actually comprised of a range of colours from brown to blue, warm whites and greys. It has quite striking linear veining and little golden sand speckles throughout. Palissandro Blue is a special looking stone that will add serious impact to any space. Best used as feature walls and splashbacks. 3D CUBE

The 3D CUBE pattern, also known as rhombille tile, tumbling blocks and reversible cubes, has been adding a funky geometric effect to interior walls since 2013 and shows no sign of reducing in popularity. A pattern that dates back 2000 years, it has really proven it can stand the test of time. Two simple designs, a matt black and a glossy white are held in stock at the Tile Depot. Matching or contrasting the grout colour will greatly affect the visual aesthetic of these tiles. Contrasting colour will create a more complex look. This collection really portrays the appearance of a hand painted tile. Biophilic design at its finest, There are three designs in a 200x200mm format suitable for both floors and walls. The floral design “Primavera” with twelve randomly supplied faces and two plain designs - the grey Rugiada and the green Selva. The coordinated collection is designed to be mixed or used separately. Outdoor Antislip R11

Make your front porch fabulous with the ever-popular Cementina OPEN AIR. A unique collection of encaustic-style tiles designed specifically for exterior use. They have an R11 slip resistent surface, essential for areas such as front entrances and can even be laid around swimming pools and sloped surfaces. Whilst we have a wide range of encaustic-style tiles at the Tile Depot, the Cementina Open Air are the ONLY ones designed specifically for exterior use. The Building Code Residential (section 2.1.2b) requires that access routes that approach the front door require a wet slip resistant surface. Make sure when tiling exterior areas you discuss your plans with staff and select tiles with the correct surface. Decorated with geometric and floral patterns inspired by late 19th Century designs but reinterpreted for the contemporary era. CEMENTINA B&W One of our most enduring and sought after encaustic style tiles in The Tile Depot range is CEMENTINA B&W#2 Inspired by traditional cement tiles, Cementina has a sophisticated and contemporary graphic that brings classic designs right up to date. Made of rectified porcelain stoneware, Cementina is a very durable design suitable for both floors and walls. Popular throughout residential interior areas, particularly kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. Cementina is a tile you will never stop adoring. Size: 200x200mm

ZELLIGE Tiles of Ezra work directly with skilled artisans in Morocco to create their Zellige and Bejmat tiles. Perfectly imperfect, every single part of the creation of these tiles is manufactured by hand, using traditional ancient techniques passed down through the generations. From moulding the clays of Morocco into tiles, to the glazing and even the packaging - it’s all done by hand. As such, they have a beauty that just can’t be recreated with factory produced “handmade effect” zellige. They will have variations in thickness and size, chips and dimples in the glazing and colour variance. All expected and part of the charm of these very special tiles. B E J M AT Bejmat are a particular style of rectangular glazed zellige tiles. A versatile format, they can be laid stacked, bricked or even in a herringbone pattern. You can even get really creative and mix and match the colours. As with all the Tiles of Ezra zellige tiles, they are all cut and shaped by hand using the purest, filtered clay. Once formed, the glaze is hand-applied to ensure a high quality, durable finish. Each tile has a rustic irregular finish that adds a unique character to any interior design. They are of variable thickness, being approximately 10mm thick. Bejmat tiles are an excellent choice for kitchen, bathroom and laundry walls. Size: 50x150mm

ZELLIGE TILES

Hand painted and handmade in Morocco, the Tile of Ezra tiles are authentic artisan tiles that use traditional and ancient methods. These tiles are cut, glazed and packaged entirely by hand. They are created by genuine artisans who are incredibly passionate and proud of their craft, using methods and materials that are sustainable and have very little environmental impact. Tiles of Ezra are confident their artisans produce the best zellige tiles in Morocco. Do not underestimate the rawness of this material. Rough hand cut edges, size and thickness variations with chips and impurities in the glaze is all part of the charm. The imperfection is the perfection. This incredible glazed porcelain range also has an antibacterial surface, having been produced with Microban technology. Microban ensures that up to 99% of bacteria are eliminated from the tile surface, consistent over time (effective day or night) and will not alter as a result of wear and tear, climatic conditions or repeated cleaning. TERRAZZO Traditional Terrazzo flooring dates back to the 15th Century in Italy where the craftsmen of the time devised a practical solution for utilising the left over marble fragments from high-end jobs. They combined these left overs with clay and ground them flat to expose the aggregates and create gorgeous terraces in their own homes. (terrazzo is the italian word for terrace). This original eco-flooring design soon expanded in popularity and by 18th Century it had spread throughout much of the western world. In 2021, terrazzo porcelain tiles have become a popular and much sought after modern interpretation of the original terrazzo floor.
