Welcome to the Tile Depot’s 2024 Lookbook. A bumper issue that gives an early preview of many exciting new lines due in 2024 as well as some of our current and ongoing favourites. With close to 1000 stocked tiles in our range, it took a lot of restraint to avoid producing a booklet twice this size so if you can’t find something in here, be sure to check out our website or nearest showroom to view our entire stocked range: www.tiledepot.co.nz

2024 is going to be a big year for textured walls with the more raw and natural the look the better. Stone designs, spaccato textures, time worn aesthethics and handmade-effect tiles will continue their exponential rise in popularity. Often paired with slick contemporary tapware and cabinetry creating a lovely juxtaposition between contemporary perfectionism and rustic charm.

The wild ride with the colourful expression of recent years appears to be narrowing toward very earthy tones, the most notable of which is the influx of cotto, green and beige colourways in many of the new collections.

Bold and dramatic stone designs continue to cause a lot of excitement with architects and interior designers, but a massive surge in neutral white and grey travertine designs in late 2023 looks to continue unhindered in the domestic market.

Versatility is an increasing feature of contemporary tile manufacture with most interior floor collections suitable for walls, microtec surfaces which allow some flooring collections to be laid both indoors and out, modular designs where creativity can really be expressed and some striking wall tile collections that can even be used in swimming pool interiors. Many of the tiles in this Lookbook could have been placed in multiple sections of the booklet.

So whether you’re after interior tiles, exterior tiles, porcelain pavers, swimming pool tiles, feature tiles, the latest mosaic or handmade tile - you may just find it within these pages.

FORNACE

FORNACE is an exciting new Italian wall tile collection. Inspired by the unique rich surfaces of the original London brick, this glazed porcelain collection beautifully captures the qualities of traditional brick manufacture, where each piece has its own originality in terms of colour variation and surface relief.

Decorative pieces, called Formella, inspired by the “frog” indent in the long side of most London bricks can be used in combination with the backgrounds or on the entire wall for an even more unique and styled effect.

MAY

A collection ahead of its time, the MAY wall tile series has been stocked at the Tile Depot since 2018 and just keeps growing in popularity. As contemporary trends seek out earthy colourways and rustic handworked effects, the MAY collection is proving to be increasingly in keeping with this aesthetic. Created with manufactured wear marks and vintage detailing, MAY gives the appearance of an aged and handworked material.

PICTON WHITE

PICTON WHITE is a wonderful modular ceramic tile that adds a contemporary edge to any interior wall. Available in two sizes in both matt and gloss finishes, Picton White tiles have an undulating surface and uneven edge detailing that packs a whole lot of character into a small white tile. Each size is sold separately but their modular design means you can mix the sizes to create some fantastic and unique patterns.

BITS

The remarkable BITS collection is due until mid - late 2024 and is expected to be well worth the wait. This fabulous collection has been inspired by the humble pixel – the smallest unit of design which serves as the canvas upon which creativity develops. Each “pixel” acts as a tiny brush stroke, creating infinite creative possibilities.

The first shipment has been ordered in the petite brick format. Eight colourways have been ordered in both gloss and matte finishes with the matte suitable for flooring.

Designed to be mixed and matched for the creation of stunning, bespoke spaces.

HOME

HOME is an Italian wall tile collection that introduces the kitkat or finger mosaic concept in a brick tile format. Each tile contains six linear strips that create the finger mosaic texture. Stocked in seven colourways, each with a range of shade and colour intensities that vary from tile to tile. A lovely reeded texture for beautiful feature walls.

FREGIO

FREGIO is a decorative wall tile collection that captures the charm of Mediterranean-style majolica on small-size bricks.

Ornate designs capture the wear and tear of time, with the shiny decorative surfaces appearing to have been eroded and erased. Where the white base tile emerges, faux chipping appears to reveal the colour of red clay beneath. The chalky white matte background colour unites all the decorative (maiolica) colour variants with pieces included in each Maiolica box. A ratio of approximately 75% decorative to 25% plain is randomly supplied in each design. The Bianco can also be bought separately.

A superb and stunning collection for the creation of really remarkable spaces.

MASHUP DOLOMIA SPACCATO

Raw irregular textures that bring interiors closer to nature are driving many interior design aesthetics at present and Mashup Dolomia Spaccato is right on point with this gorgeous trend. A porcelain wall tile with the look and feel of natural stone, Mashup Dolomia Spaccato is a textured tile reminiscent of rough chiselled dolomite stone. Available in two colourways, beige and greige, it epitomises quality Italian design, adding a wonderful depth and tactile interest to interior walls. TINT

The TINT collection of petite subway tiles is a whimsical range of brick ceramic wall tiles inspired by handmade zellige & bejmat tiles.

Made in Italy, the collection comprises five pastel colourways drawn from nature. Each colourway has multiple faces with different shading intensities. A vintage edge treatment completes the authentic handmade aesthetic.

A beautiful matt finish that doesn’t bounce back against the light, allows the unique colour tones to display their beauty to the full. A wonderful collection for lovers of rustic textures and tones.

ROMA

ROMA is a glazed porcelain collection inspired by Roman travertine marble. It has a unique 3-dimensional relief structure that has the appearance of small stone pieces with rounded edges. The interlocking format allows the creation of seamless surfaces that hide the visibility of the tile. A refined and contemporary design made in Italy that can be used on both floors and walls.

Available in two colourways, Beige and Grey, with an R10 antislip finish.

CARAMELIA

CARAMELIA is a vibrant, brightly coloured ceramic wall tile collection. It has a very high gloss and gently rippled surface that plays with light beautifully. A tile collection that will definitely inject a lot of energy and character into a space.

VATICAN LINEAR

Vatican Linear 600x1200mm is a stunning textured porcelain wall tile that replicates a rigato rock effect. Rigato is where a machine finish is applied to cut stone that leaves a 3-dimensional pattern of parallel linear lines across the surface of the stone. Vatican Linear recreates this textured effect in a stunning collection inspired by vein cut travertine stone. A beautiful design that comes in three natural stone colourways: White, Silver and Novona.

Vatican Linear adds a wonderful depth and tactile interest to interior walls. Part of the VATICAN collection, matching Vein Cut 600x1200mm and Cross Cut 600x600mm floor tiles are also available. (Refer pages 64 and 110)

CANNE is a stunning glazed porcelain stoneware that takes its inspiration from slat wood walls. 3-dimensional grooves run the entire length of this tile, creating an undulating surface that varies in thickness and alternates the intensity of the colour. Inspired by the art of dry stone walls, CANYON is a new porcelain wall tile collection due in mid 2024 with a lovely, realistic design. Dry stone walls are created by stacking stone on top of each other without the use of other binding materials and the 3-dimensional relief and design of the CANYON collection captures this aesthetic beautifully.

Suitable for interior and exterior walls, there are four colourways, each with nine unique faces that are randomly supplied. A fabulous tactile collection with an interlocking format that facilitates an extremely natural effect.

DEEP NATURAL

DEEP NATURAL is the latest in contemporary Spanish tile design. A matt decorative wall tile with a texure formed by very small embedded edges in different stone-like effects. A stunning tile specifically designed for eye-catching feature walls.

Designed purely with texture rich feature walls in mind, BATEIG is a new Spanish wall collection in 2024. A large format decorative wall tile that brings a new dimension to decorative projects. A collection created with texture and relief in mind, it depicts tropical leaves akin to those carved out of stone with hammer and chisel. EVOLUTIA

EVOLUTIA is a lovely new wall tile collection bringing calm and tranquility to interior spaces. A serene stony design available in a soft beige or white colourway. There are two finishes: a smooth matt finish and a decor tile with low relief horizontal lines. Rectified edges allow for minimal grout widths and a more seamless surface. Evolutia is the latest in restrained, elegant Spanish design.

BEJMAT

BEJMAT are a particular style of rectangular glazed zellige tiles. A versatile format, they can be laid stacked, bricked, herringbone or basketweave pattern. You can even get really creative and mix and match the colours.

As with all the Tiles of Ezra zellige tiles, they are cut and shaped by hand using the purest, filtered clay. Once formed, the glaze is hand-applied to ensure a high quality, durable finish. Each tile has a rustic irregular finish that adds a unique character to any interior design. They are of variable thickness, being approximately 10mm thick.

Bejmat tiles are a stylish choice for kitchen, bathroom and laundry walls. We recommend only the unglazed clay for floors.

ZELLIGE

Tiles of Ezra work directly with skilled artisans in Morocco to create their Zellige and Bejmat tiles. Perfectly imperfect, every single part of the creation of these tiles is manufactured by hand, using traditional ancient techniques passed down through the generations. From moulding the clays of Morocco into tiles, to the glazing and even the packaging - it’s all done by hand. As such, they have a beauty that just can’t be recreated with factory produced “handmade effect” zellige.

They will have variations in thickness and size, chips and dimples in the glazing and colour variance. All expected and part of the charm of these very special tiles. A home tiled with these, exudes an atmosphere and charm that is incredibly welcoming and restful.

TIERRA

TIERRA tiles are 100% handcrafted in Vietnam. They are characterised by a bespeckled surface that draws upon the tones and textures of earth and soil.

In 2024 we are changing the stocked size from the petite brick to the 100x100mm format as well as introducing new colour options.

The stocked colorways will comprise Tierra Smoke, the dark and dramatic Tierra Oscuro and and Tierra Ash. Beautiful and dynamic tiles that will add a natural charm to any interior wall.

CUSTOM MOSAICS

For those very special projects with plenty of forward planning, The Tile Depot can offer custom made Tiles of Ezra zellige mosaics. Customers choose the design and the colours and the artisans in Morocco create the mosaic by hand. The entire process takes around 5-6 months. These are a high-end product with pricing unique to each design and colour combination.

There are over 30 patterns and 34 colours to choose from so there is immense opportunity to create something truly bespoke... designed by you.

Hand painted and handmade in Morocco, the Tiles of Ezra tiles are authentic artisan tiles that use traditional and ancient methods. These tiles are cut, glazed and packaged entirely by hand.

They are created by genuine artisans who are incredibly passionate and proud of their craft, using methods and materials that are sustainable and have very little environmental impact. Tiles of Ezra are confident their artisans produce the best zellige tiles in Morocco & Vietnam.

Do not underestimate the rawness of this material. Rough hand cut edges, size and thickness variations with chips and impurities in the glaze is all part of the charm. The imperfection is the perfection. If its nice tidy symmetrical tiles with perfect grout lines you are after, look elsewhere!

A striking architectural form that dates back to ancient Egypt and Greece. COLOSSEUM’s simple curved 3D design creates a striking textural effect through the repetitive contrasts of shadows and light. A design for all eras, Colosseum is an elegant and striking mosaic for interior walls.

HEXAGONAL

Carrara marble is a timeless, elegant stone that is universal in its appeal. Cut into hexagonal shapes for a slightly edgy, contemporay format, Hexagonal Carrara Mosaic is available in both satin and polished finishes and makes for a beautiful wall in bathrooms, kitchens, laundries and bars.

STONE BRICKS

You can’t beat the beauty of natural stone or the timelessness of the classic brick format. There are currently three natural stone brick mosaics held in stock. Each brick is 48x98mm on a 300x300mm sheet. Suitable for interior walls only. Being natural stone they must be sealed with a penetrating sealer prior to installation.

KIT-KAT

A popular architectural format for interior walls, the finger or kit-kat mosaic is a stylish tile format for contemporary spaces. Four new kit kat designs landed in late 2023, comprising stunning terrazzo and natural green marble.

The three terrazzo designs, Kit Kat Nougat, are authentic terrazzo mosaics created with a range of natural stone fragments. Not unlike nougat confectionary, they take multiple beautiful things to create something delicious.

Kit Kat Indian Green is a beautiful deep green natural marble cut into finger mosaics.

Sealing with a penetrating sealer is required before installation.

CLASSIC

These beautiful natural tumbled stone mosaics are expected to be a very hot product in 2024. Striking, raw, natural stones bring a unique organic quality to interiors and are much sought after for their timeless beauty.

With the intrinsic variation that comes with products made by nature, no two pieces are identical and there can be marked variation in tone and patterning. These qualities are part of the rustic charm and appeal of authentic stone.

PENNY ROUNDS

Having first graced bathrooms and kitchens in the early 1900s, the penny mosaic has made a tremendous contemporary comeback. Designed to add fine texture and impact, they are perfect for feature walls and splashbacks. They are also a fantastic option for curved walls and colonnades as they easily wrap around curved surfaces. Ideal for creating contrast and texture, they are suited to a wide range of design genres and remain timeless due to their simple geometry.

There are nine Penny Round mosaic designs stocked at The Tile Depot in a range of materials from glass, porcelain, copper, brass and natural stone.

FRAME MOSAIC

The FRAME mosaics are a gorgeous contemporary square mosaic inspired by natural sedimentary rocks. An elegant Italian design, these matt porcelain mosaics are part of a comprehensive collection of interior and exterior tiles that allow seamless flow from indoors to out. The mosaic format providing a lovely textural feature to modern architectural spaces. BETON STILL HEX

The BETON collection of hexagonal mosaics are a super hard-wearing range of Scandinavian inspired designs made in Italy. Suitable for both floors and walls in residential and commercial interiors. They are a very versatile mosaic that adds texture and colour to any space.

Four colourways come with a mix of matt, gloss and fabric-textured finishes: Wild Sage, Deep Navy, Rosy Blush and Cotton Candy.

Charme Illusion is a warm taupe coloured cross-cut marble design with striking dark veins. It has a high degree of variation between the tile faces that draws upon the variation found in nature.

Charme Pearl has a softer, less dramatic appearance and less variation than the Illusion but is no less magnificent. Charme Pearl is an elegant gentle grey with warm ivory veining.

Charme Grey is similar in appearance to the Pearl but a darker grey with more contrasting tone-on-tone veining crossed with subtle fine copper veins.s perfectly balanced with the gentle grey tones that dominate the tile. It is a whimsical and luxurious design.

The natural dolomitic stone is only found in the Lombardy region in Italy and is composed of broken fragments of minerals cemented together by a fine-grained matrix, affording the stone a terrazzo-like appearance.
