Overview I Educational Work

World NGO Forum Bishopsgate, London
My master thesis titled „World NGO Forum“ is a research and design project on the work of non-governmental organizations. The intention and core message of my design is of an urban architecture of exchange and contact between people – professionally, privately and culturally. The World NGO Forum aims to provide employees of international aid organizations with spaces, to master together in close coordination the pressing challenges facing our planet. The basis for this is an architecture of encounter, an architecture of contact density, an architecture based on the roots of the town-city of London, that reinterprets them. The international community will have possibilities here to meet every day, to get to know each other, to train and to unite together with a loud voice. By using a low spatial density, paths, platforms and squares create a maximum of exchange 06

opportunities. Green and vivid open spaces create differentiated experiences that make the WNF an island in London for citizens, residents and visitors. My work spans from the imagination of a global hub for NGOs to the creation of an urban structure in the context of the site in Shoreditch to the design of single core building and units for the organizations. Due to the events of this year, we all have more than ever understood, that City must be a human space. The design preserves the green island of the Goodsyard. It is a space of experience, without separation of functions, without strict boundary between public and private. It provides spaces for everyone for personal appropriation. The World NGO Forum is open to all of us, without opening hours. For a summary of the whole project, please look here: www.issuu.com/tilzoeller/docs/wnf

Casino, Formula One and Luxary. Monaco is famous for the jetset of the richest. Until now, theres no adequat place for culture and art in the Principality of Monte Carlo. Following the tradition of expansion into the sea, the Monaco Motion Museum is a floating horizontal object on the eastern coast of Monaco next to the Jardin Japonaise. Overarching conception was the creation of a layered public space, from an accessible roof to a public promenade on the seaside. The museum is inspired by the modernist architecture of its surroundings, the horizontals are the domintant element. 14

Approached via ramps from the garden the lobby is the node of the building. Directly connected to a café and shop the triple height space is the starting point for both the temporary and permanent exhibtions. Going down, the paths takes the visitor into the permanent collection, the architecture, the shape of the rooms are very specific and take the visitor on a journey from below sea level to the top of the building. In strong contrast, the temporary exhibition leaves maximal flexibilty to the curators, one large room as white cube is the dominant figure on the appearance of the tectonic shifts of horizontals.

Sibiu hosts one of Europe‘s largest theater festivals. In times of communism in Romania, theatre was one of the last institutions of freedom of speech and opposition. Despite their immense importance, there is no adequate stage in Sibiu.
element, that links square and entrance to the theatre stages in the core of the building. The internal organization is heavily influenced by our indepth research regarding the work processes of the theatre machinery and the flexibility of venues.
The cubic shaped solitaire marks the entrance to the old town of the city. By locating the building at the southern end of the plot the theatre has a strong appearance towards the main streets and creates a wide open square in its front. The dark look of the facade with brass drainage elements is a strong contrast to the surrounding built environment to mark the importance for the City.
The Theatre contains of one main stage with space for one thousand spectators. With several side stages, stage tower and two levels of seatings this hall is the heart of the building. A multifunctional stage for up 600 guest allowing flexiblity for all different types of theatre uses, fashion shows or exhibitions.
The building is entered by a wide and open foyer that hosts public functions like Coffee Shop and Ticket Desks. Dominating element is the Cascade, a wooden staircase
Keeping up the character of the current situation, the whole design allows for several more potential stages such as the generous internal stairway, the training stage, the cascade of the entrance hall or the outside square.

Le Bourg de Bègles Bordeaux, France
The image of social housing is often the same. Areas, that like to be avoided, towers, bars, mostly strangers to their surroundings. LeBourg de Bègles‘ concept is to create a dense, livable and lively neighborhood. The emphasis is on the public space, the rooftop gardens, the Maison Quartier and the small squares. Located in the southern suburbs of Bordeaux directly adjacent to a newly built tramway the urban form is mediating between the century old village of Bègles to the West and a newly built residential quartier in the East. By overcoming the common and required building distances a much denser and more variant experiecne is created. Architecturally, the area is divided into four types of buildings to welcome everyone from single person refugees 26

to families in need. The building heights vary depending on location and exposure from three strories to five. On the main axises and squares the ground floor level is activated by shops and ateliers. The centrepoint of le Bourg is formed by a community centre with communal kitchen, cafeteria and study facilties for language courses. Variable residential typologies with numerous expansion options allow a multitude of experiences. Most buildings itself contain of communal areas. Apartments are generally kept to a minimum floorspace in

Pollard Thomas Edwards Cherrydown Gardens
32
After returning to London in February 2021, I started working for Pollard Thomas Edwards in the position of Architectural Assistant Part II.
The buildings are positioned around a large podium garden to the south side of the development and offer outdoor spaces for every apartment.
Since then my focus was on „Cherrydown Gardens“, a residential scheme for 200 homes in the New Town of Basildon in Essex. Key design features are the three strong volumes with different brick finishes, the pitched roofs and dancing facade pattern.
The design team consists of one project architect and me in the role of Part II Assistant with a lot of freedom in regards to design development and responsibility in coordination with consultants.
Architecture I Residential Development
I was involved in Stage 2 and currently work towards a design freeze and planning application for end of september.

Urban Planning I Residential Development I Villa Design
I started working at F+P at their London Campus in 2017/18 for one year in the position of Architectural Assistant Part II on a large scale urban masterplan in the Middle East. I had the chance to work in a great interdisciplinary team of architects, urban planners, enviromentalists, traffic planners, economists. We worked on the design of a new built city for 300,000 people in the Kuwaiti desert. My tasks reached from the design of a multitude of villa types to the design of neighbourhood clusters, the distribution of its services to calculations of areas and amounts for public functions. As the project kicked of the same time I started and is still ongoing, most of my work was for Stage 1 and 2.

Urban Planning I Street Scape I Landscape
One year later in summer break of University 2019, I had the chance to return to Foster for a period of 4 months. The project was a Masterplan for Related in California. F+P were doing the overall masterplan and the design of several of the blocks. The buildings reached from F+B, Retail, Hotel, Office and Residential uses. I was working in the team that overlooked the entire development, we coordinated the architetural teams and external consultants. My main focus was on the public realm, the streetscape, furniture and landscape. We worked on different solution for smart curb uses, the dialog between the building fronts and the public spaces and solutions for the programming of the open spaces.

Architecture I Competition and Stage 1 designs
For a good amount of my undergraduate studies I worked in the office of Blocher Partners in Stuttgart. Starting with an internship before I actually started my studies I became part-time student-trainee for my first three years of university with working full-time in some of the semester breaks. I became a full member of the team and was allowed to work independently on small designs and conceptual ideas. The projects shown here are two I spent some time working on. On the left the Project for a nursery with residential units on top. I was working on the stage 1 design, the volumes and facade studies. On the right is a competition entry for a 100m Tower for the chemical company BASF. Unfortunalty we didnt win and in 2020 the plans for the project were scrapped. above Competition High-rise BASF Ludwigshafen, My tasks: Facade development, 3d modeling and Photoshop

Behnisch Architekten Stuttgart
I had the chance to collect my first architectural experiences in the office of Behnisch Architekten in Stuttgart. Working with an international team, my plan to become architect was manifested. I learned a lot about architecture, the office specific sustainable approach and was lucky to work on many projects. The focus at that time was especially on residential buidlings, I was mainly involved in the design of a detached family home, that sadly never got realized. I was also able to support other teams, when it was needed. So I gained experience modelbuilding for Stadtvillen Ludwigshafen and worked on the Ozeanium Basel competition proposal, an extension for the Zoo in Basel. Through the many international staff at Behnisch, I was already learning a lot about different university courses and the dependency of architecture and cultural background. above Family Residence House H, My tasks: floor plan variations, facade development, presentation preparations, model building. right Presentation model Project Stadtvillen Ludwigshafen, Ozenium Basel 40
