The estate at 160 Ox Pasture Road was built in 1899 and designed by the renowned architect of New York’s Forest Hills neighborhood, Grosvenor Atterbury. The home was originally owned by Grange Sard of Rathbone, Sard & Co., a stove manufacturer, and was then sold to Rufus Lenoir Patterson Jr. around 1912. Patterson subsequently re-hired Atterbury to update the design and gave the estate his middle name – Lenoir. The estate was renamed Linden sometime later in honor of the trees lining the property which were placed during its original landscape design by Frederick Law Olmsted, the storied landscape designer of New York’s Central Park. The estate’s current owners purchased it in 2002 and subsequently embarked on an extensive renovation and restoration project led by designer Steven Gambrel that has preserved the authenticity of the celebrated property while adding modern amenities that make Linden truly one-of-a-kind.
