T H E material Cardboard is a generic term for a heavy-duty paper of various strengths, ranging from a simple arrangement of a single thick sheet of paper to complex configurations featuring multiple corrugated and uncorrugated layers. 100 % recyclable Most types of “cardboard” are recyclable. Boards that are laminates, wax coated, or treated for wet-strength are often more difficult to recycle. Clean cardboard (i.e. cardboard that has not been subject to chemical coatings) “is usually worth recovering, although often the difference between the value it realizes and the cost of recovery is marginal”. Cardboard can be recycled industrially, or for home uses. For example, cardboard may be composted or shredded for animal bedding. Market Aside from gallery exhibits, the idea of using cardboard as a material for constructing furniture is becoming increasingly popular, especially given its sustainable credentials. Cardboard is fully recyclable and is predominantly made from recycled paper. It usually can also be printed on in any color and pattern.
T H E S T O RY Meet the Sims Family ! On a sunny Sunday afternoon evening , The Sims Family went outside with their kids to take a walk in the Central Park . Maria ( the wife ) started talking with her husband ( Paolo ) about their twins birthday party that will be in three weeks. Maria : Darling , I think it would be a great idea to throw the birthday party for Marco and Alex here, in this park . In 3 weeks the weather will be just perfect . And the kids will have enough space to run and play games. Plus all our friends know that we are an eco family and we love the nature. Paolo: . That sounds amazing , honey ! But you know that we don’t have enough chairs in our small apartment so that means we will have to buy some. Maria : Hmm.. you are right ! I don’t think buying more than 10 chairs would be a solution . Also I talked with my brother so he will come with his band and sing at the birthday party ...so at the end of the night we will have a small concert ! Paolo : Pff ... that means we will need chairs and some benches to sit . Let’s call our designer friend , Timeea . I am sure she will have a solution for our problem ... After a few minute ... Paolo : We are so lucky to know her . She said she can create for us some cardboard stools that can be easilly moved around , because they won’t be heavy ...and after the party and the concert we can just recycle them . Maria : Such a nice idea . I can’t wait to see how they will look ! And also I think in this way we can save more money and pay that clown
