survey to help identify Coweta's transportation infrastructure and traffic priorities for the upcoming TSPLOST is now available online. The survey is available by visiting www.drivingcoweta.com . TSPLOST is a five-year, 1 percent sales tax that can fund transportation projects and transit operations. Coweta voters likely will decide whether to implement the tax in November. The sales tax is expected to raise
$100 million over five years, and, if approved, would start being collected in April 2020. In tandem with the survey, the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce has been conducting public input sessions to help determine residents' vision for improving roadways, sidewalks, intersections and public trails. The last public engagement meeting is scheduled for April 30 at Northgate High School and will begin at 6 p.m.

“You want your logo to have the same look and feel so that people know exactly who you are,” says Matt. “I really love what I do, and I enjoy helping businesses create their own specific identity that they can share with the public across all platforms.” Matt’s branding expertise is not limited to signage. With the help of Jeanie, who has a background in web development, the two are able to build an identity for a business through signs, websites, shirts, business cards, and more.
“We do everything with signage,” laughs Matt. “Yard signs all the way up to lighted road signs, window lettering, decals and more. We do branding and really focus on brand cohesion. One of my specialties is logo design, something that you can put on your signs, website, shirts, business card. Having one specific, recognizable logo for every part of your business is a major key to success,” says Matt. He continues, “You want to have something that is truly yours and is something that people look at and recognize immediately as your business. If you come in with just a drawing on a napkin that you were inspired to take down, we
Hair 9 West’s new signage created by Downtown Sign Shop can use that to build your brand.” Matt and Jeanie are Newnan residents who are as invested in their community as they are in their successful business. “Our biggest goal was that we wanted to take and rebrand every store on the square so that everyone knows that the store is in downtown Newnan,” says Matt. “I guess you could say that’s our

dream. We would love to help provide downtown Newnan with its own unique identity.” To find out more about how Downtown Sign Shop can help maximize your business or organization’s branding efforts, stop by their store at 2C Jackson Street, visit their website www.downtownsignshop.com.

Recently, members from the Newnan Planning Commission unanimously approved the revised plan for Amy Johnson’s “Twelve” on 12 Jefferson Street 7 to 0. ‘April Showers Bring May Flowers’
Environmental art installation brings together education, recycling
Students from Coweta Charter Academy at Senoia are among students from 12 schools who created displays for Keep Newnan Beautiful’s “April Showers Bring May Flowers” art installation on Court Square.

PHOTOS BY REBECCA LEFTWICH From left, Northside Elementary School STEM Club members Luke Chambless, 9; Hudson Nestlehutt, 8; and Betsy Hoffman, 9, admire their handiwork in front of the Newnan Carnegie Library after a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Earth Day for “April Showers Bring May Flowers.”
s spring begins in earnest, visitors to downtown Newnan may notice some unusual flowers sprouting from planters around the square. “April Showers Bring May Flowers” is Keep Newnan Beautiful’s environmental art installation, which was unveiled Monday in honor of Earth Day. The project features a dozen displays of flowers created from recycled materials by Coweta County students, who used everything from plastic cutlery, CDs and cups to water bottles – along with paint, glue and their imaginations – in their designs. “Environmental education is a huge part of the Keep Newnan Beautiful program, along with encouraging and supporting proper recycling,” said Page Beckwith, director of Keep Newnan Beautiful. The art installation project partnered
each participating school with a local business sponsor, and those schools will now have the opportunity to apply to KNB for environmental education grants for their schools or classrooms. Each sponsor donated $250, and the money was used to create the grant fund. Schools can use their grants toward educational efforts like school gardens, educational materials, speakers and field trips, Beckwith said. “It’s an opportunity to feel good about partnering together with local schools to bring attention to recycling and how important it is,” she said. “Some of the things the students did are pretty creative, and this is something we can do every year. Hopefully, more schools will want to get involved once they hear about it.” Keep Newnan Beautiful commission members generated the idea for “April Showers Bring May Flowers” in an effort to strengthen the organization’s environmental education component by incorporating local schools, while also highlighting the importance of recycling, Beckwith said. The Leadership Coweta Class of 2019 helped build the planter bases from plans designed by Terry Love of the Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity construction team, and Lowe’s of Newnan donated the materials. Participating schools are Northside Elementary (Blickle), Coweta Charter Academy (Buffalo Rock), Moreland Elementary (Aimee McBrier), Newnan High (Joy Barnes), Ruth Hill Elementary (Newnan Utilities), Welch Elementary (Niagara Bottling), Poplar Road Elementary (Renee Horton), Elm Street Elementary (Tree Protection Supply Company), Evans Middle and Newnan Crossing Elementary (Waste Industries), Western Elementary (United Bank) and Eastside Elementary (Yamaha Motor Manufacturing). “The response has been really fabulous,” Beckwith said. “The teachers and kids have been really excited, and the businesses have enjoyed being involved.”

Newnan. Initially, commissioners took issue with proposed wooden doors and elevations of the rooftop deck that were not consistent with other downtown buildings. As a result, Johnson revised her concept by adding wood framing to windows, adding more decorative wooden framing and inserting a wood beam above the low glass and below the sign. Proposed paint would be more similar to surrounding buildings, and the wood frame above was lightened so it will visually recede. Johnson also included the addition of inset double entry doors, an ADA compliant entry ramp and the use of new double doors that open together instead of two separate doors. Planning Commission Chairman Greg Gause agreed the changes were satisfactory and on-par for the commission's vision for downtown. “I like this,” Gause said. “We appreciate what you’ve done to the front doors and the addition at the top.” Johnson thanked the commissioners and expressed optimism for moving forward with the project. “I’m trying to make sure it’s part of the vision of the property I want to put in place and is a great representation of Newnan,” Johnson said.

Jesus Christ is not some powerless, dead historical figure. He is alive. He is present. If you are thirsty, He is the Living Water. If you are hungry, He is the Bread of Life. He protects. He intercedes. He fills us up. He satisfies our souls. He is awesome in strength and mighty in power. He is the Lamb of God. He is the Lion of Judah. He is the Indescribable Gift. He is our Great High Priest. He is our Mediator. He is our Hope. He is our Peace. He is our Burden Bearer. He is our Good Shepherd. He is our Refuge. He is our Strength. He is our Rock.
