In
a cabin on a lake in Pennsylvania, founding members of Sidewalk Prophets, Ben McDonald and David Frey, wrote most of what would become their third full studio album, Something Different.
A band known for spending more days on the road than anywhere else, the quiet seclusion of the cabin helped Ben and Dave create what might be their most honest and musically diverse album yet. Set to release from Fervent Records on August 28, Something Different was created during a unique and challenging time for the band. For Dave, writing at the lake was symbolic: “All these things were happening in our lives at that time but here we sat, on the peaceful serenity of this lake. It was a different way to approach writing. Instead of a clock in and clock out approach to writing, we were in the moment, in this environment for days on end asking God to fill the quiet but remove the distractions and burdens, and allow Him to speak through us. I think the whole experience facilitated, in turn, a different way to show our hearts to the world.” That’s what this much-anticipated Sidewalk Prophets project was built on: candor and honesty about where the band is, has been, and is going. It truly is something different for their fans and for the genre. Their prior albums Live Like That (2012) and These Simple Truths (2009) saw great success with singles like “Live Like That” and “You Love Me Anyway” topping Christian charts. But this time around, Sidewalk Prophets did not hold back, not emotionally, not musically. For Something Different, the band, which in addition to Ben and Dave includes Cal Joslin (bass), Justin Nace (drums) and Daniel Macal (lead guitar), chose to work with seasoned producer Seth Mosley for the first time. It was a surprisingly perfect fit for Ben and Dave, who have been writing together since their freshman year of college where they met almost 14 years ago.

About The Show...
The Rhinestone Roper Show is a death-defying interactive Wild West traveling show, entertaining and thrilling audiences coast-tocoast for over 18 years. The show has it all – intricate trick roping, precision knife throwing and bullwhip cracking, fancy gun spinning and fast-draw shooting. Featured in the show are stunts by amazing trick horses Gypsy Rio and Jesse James. You may have seen them make the Quarter Finals on America’s Got Talent. Champion showman Dan Mink, The Rhinestoen Roper – a true master in “the tools of the cowboy” - has revised the old-fashioned Wild West show, delighting and educating family audiences about a bygone era. His world-class skills, signature cowboy humor, and knowledge of old west lore are woven into a 45-minute show full of music, laughs, and audience participation. Dan, a former chief deputy prosecutor, hails from Jerome, Idaho. Dan is pleased to introduce his wife Yvonne and daughter Emilee. Yvonne descends from the Mescaloro Apache Nation of New Mexico. She not only performs with ropes, whips and knives but also shoots aerial targets with a pistol while spinning on the “Wheel of Death.” 14-year old Emilee surprises audiences as well, with her trick roping and knife throwing.
There is something different about that type of assurance when a band finishes an album. A trust that you’ve written and produced exactly what you were supposed to exactly when you were supposed to. Written from a place of uncertainty, yet in a sanctuary of peace, the honest, Gospel-focused nature of each song on Something Different provides a type of sanctuary itself for listeners, who may also find themselves in the middle of an uncertain time. These are songs they can cling to in the midst of those troubles, but also can sing in the moments of joy and celebration. Songs that will bring assurance in the chaos and peace in the storm, encouragement to keep going, and remind them that the something different inside of them is still there, is constant, and it’s the thing that makes us Something Different. Auction of livestock animals set Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department provides fire & rescue services At 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 22nd, the livestock animals entered into the 2017 Allegany County Fair and Ag Expo by local club members of 4-H and Future Farmers of America will be auctioned off to the highest bidders. The auction will be held in the show ring, housed in the 4H Livestock Pavilion. All the prize-winning steers, hogs, poultry, lambs, goats, and rabbits in the auction have been hand raised by students as a part of their agricultural training. The animals
first compete for ribbons, trophies, and cash premiums, as exhibits in the fair. Then, they are auctioned, and the money from the sale goes directly to the student/owner, where it is often used to purchase another animal to be raised for the next year’s fair. The Livestock Auction is the highlight of Ag Expo activities for the week. Fairgoers will be joined in the auction bidding by representatives from supermarket chains and area restaurants.
POP CANNED GOODS SUNDAY SPONSORED BY REITHOFFER SHOWS Sunday, July 16th from 4 pm until close will be a pay one price day at the fair. Sponsored by Reithoffer Shows. Ride all the rides for only $15! OR if you bring 3 cans of nonperishable food items the POP will be only $10! Habitat for Humanity will be collecting the food items on July 16th here at the fair. Just as they have for over 40 years, the Bowling Green Vol. Fire Dept. will be on hand nightly to provide fire and rescue protection. The Allegany County Fairgrounds is located within the fire protection area of the department. The Fire Department is also on stand-by for many of the grandstand events, including the 4 cylinder demo derby, mud bog, and the 8 cylinder derby as well. Fireworks planned for the fair will be under the watchful eye of the department as well. Families should feel free to stop by out location, on the north end of the grounds for a look at our equipment on location.

Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department Emergency Medical Services The Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department will be providing the ambulance and first aid needs for fair patrons during the week long Allegany County Fair which they have done now for over three decades . One of Cresaptown’s advanced life support equipped
and staffed ambulances will be on standby at the medical station each evening during the fair. Cresaptown will operate a Medical Station at the south end of the fairgrounds near the Ag-Expo exhibits
for those minor injuries and illnesses which may occur. This station will open at 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 12:00 on Saturday and Sunday. The medical station will remain open each evening until the fair closes. The Medical station will be housed in a travel trailer marked Medical Station which provides privacy for your medical attention and is equipped to meet the needs of the fair patrons. The Medical Station will be manned by Maryland Certified Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics. The Cresaptown Vol. Fire Department will also be providing coverage throughout the fairgrounds and at special events through the use of special “Go Teams”. These teams consist
of medical personnel who will be stationed at special locations during the grandstand events as well as teams that will respond throughout the fairgrounds on specially equipped All Terrain Vehicles. The teams will be identifiable by their “Emergency Medical Services” shirt and photo identification badges. Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department advises fair patrons to dress appropriately. Patrons should wear comfortable shoes for walking and loose clothing which is light in color. Please remember to take any regular medications before arriving at the fairgrounds and drink plenty of fluids while attending. We will be there if you need us!
Here she is: Ms. Allegany County Farm Bureau Queen Evening gowns, tiaras, sashes—all the pageantry of a large scale contest with a “hometown feel.” Such is the 2017 Allegany County Farm Bureau Queen contest and crowning, held Sunday at 8 p.m. Participants in the Farm Bureau Queen contest are ages 16 to 19 years old, and their families are Farm Bureau members. The girls are judged by three out-of-county judges; they must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the Farm Bureau and of farming in general, be active in the farm bureau, participate in farming activities, and more. Poise, appearance, and presentation are also considered in the contest, however, much more emphasis is place on the knowledge and skills that the contestants demonstrate.
After her crowning on Sunday evening, the 2017 Farm Bureau Queen will have many duties to complete both during and after the fair. She announces acts, passes out ribbons, introduces VIP’s, and will compete in the state contest. In addition, the Farm Bureau also sponsors a Princess program. Participants are ages 13 to 15 years old, and do not compete. The Farm Bureau Princess program is preparation for the Farm Bureau Queen contest. The Allegany County Farm Bureau has been proud to sponsor the annual Farm Bureau Queen Contest for approximately 60 years.

Low-slung
baritones are a country tradition; so are big, booming vocals built for twangy power ballads. Yet, as varied as the genre can be, it isn’t often that someone comes along with a take or a tone that shakes it to the core while still keeping that center strong and solid; someone so modern it’s hard to find a point with which to compare. But listen to one moment of Chris Lane’s signature falsetto, and it’s clear there’s a new range in town. In Lane’s hands, mixing those earth-shattering high notes with banjo plucks and a danceable beat (whether that dancing is done in cowboy boots or Nike sneakers) has never felt more natural, or so unique. He may have some Girl Problems, as the title of his debut album suggests, but he has no problem at all weaving a fresh sound that both thrills country fans and encourages pop faithfuls to dip a toe into his side of the Mason-Dixon. After touring in the past year with Dustin Lynch, Kelsea Ballerini and Rascal Flatts, Lane’s been making a name for himself as one of the genre’s most groundbreaking new stars: his first single, “Fix,” topped the Country radio charts, has been certified GOLD in both the U.S. and Canada, and surpassed both 25.8 million streams on Spotify and 6 million views on Vevo, making waves for how effortlessly it blends progressive pop and that sultry falsetto with his country roots. It’s a record-breaker, too: the song has accumulated the most first week single adds from a debut male artist in Country Aircheck history, all while drawing praise from the likes of Selena Gomez, Lucy Hale, Daughtry and more. Now, Lane’s ready to share Girl Problems with the world, the debut LP produced by Joey Moi (Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen) and released August 5th by Big Loud Records. Originally from North Carolina but now residing in Nashville, Lane once thought his life was heading in an entirely different direction: an ace athlete, he played football and baseball until an injury sidelined him permanently. Looking for an outlet, he turned to the guitar – he’d always loved music growing
up, and listened to everything from Garth Brooks and Usher to Justin Timberlake – and it quickly turned from a hobby into a downright passion. He started playing in a cover band and became a must-see act in town, all while starting to write his own songs, a talent that came unexpectedly easily. “Once I got a taste of what it was like to be on stage,” says Lane, “and more and more people came out to the shows, I thought, ‘well, I should try and write my own music.’ I sat down and wrote twelve songs. After that, it instantly felt like music was what I truly was supposed to be doing. I discovered a passion I never thought I could have.” Soon, Nashville came calling, and it wasn’t before long that he found himself working with Moi, who was instantly drawn to his cutting-edge originality and ability to transcend genres. One day in the studio, Lane was singing an Usher song to himself while Moi was working behind the controls – including all of the high, falsetto notes that are impossible for most to even approach. And, suddenly, a light bulb went off: they realized they could integrate those vocal abilities into Lane’s music in way that country had never quite done before. “I’m so glad we discovered that,” says Lane. “It’s out of the box for country music, and that’s how I like to be.” Once Lane felt free to unleash those killer vocals, everything fell into place: it was the thread that laced together his diverse pop and country influences, and “Fix,” written by Sarah Buxton, Jesse Frasure and Abe Stoklasa, was the first piece of that puzzle (and also the title of his debut EP). Girl Problems – named as an ode not only to the difficulties of romance but the beauty of learning from missteps and mistakes - takes the ride one step further, pushing even more boundaries, packing more surprises and, most of all, always remembering to make people dance or sing along. From the smooth, R&B vibe of “Who’s It Gonna Be” that absolutely smashes with its infectious, eighties-pop infused chorus; to the twang disco of “All The Time”; to the mid-tempo “For Her,” which Lane describes as his “Backstreet Boy” moment – if the Backstreet Boys played a little banjo – it’s a contemporary ride from one exciting corner of the genre to the next, reinventing country with every octave. “I love what Florida Georgia Line is doing, and what Sam Hunt has done,” says Lane. “They have created something that was unique to country that nobody else had tried. That’s how I strive to create music, too. To infuse so many different aspects and influences into one unique sound, that always pushes forward.” Florida Georgia Line, in fact, has been a mentor of sorts to Lane – they recognized his talent early on and took him on the road before anyone barely knew his name. It was a good gamble – audiences loved his high-energy, captivating performances, and other artists like Rascal Flatts snatched him up as a tourmate, too. Tireless on the road and always on all cylinders at every show, Lane attributes his work ethic to his years as an athlete. “I guess I’ve gone from playing baseball in stadiums to singing in stadiums,” Lane laughs. Either way, he’s still hitting soaring homeruns.
