Heavenly Beings: Icons of the Christian Orthodox World introduces the tradition of the devotional art of the Christian Orthodox faith in an exhibition of icons drawn from across the world. This ancient visual tradition is surveyed through 118 captivating icons, dating from 1350 to 1800. Pop-up Classic Car Display

8am-12.30pm, Fencible Walk Park, 110 Picton Street, Howick

On every second Saturday of the month watch out for those beauties on wheels at Fencible Walk/Path, Picton Street, opposite the Howick Village Market. Go and view the British and European Classics, meet the owners and enjoy the Kiwi motoring heritage. With the Auckland Brit and Euro Classic Car Show cancelled this year due to Covid, this is the best next thing, right here in Howick. Grand Horizons

Auckland Theatre is back on the boards and presenting a Broadway hit by award-winning playwright, Bess Wohl. After its initial run was curtailed due to the pandemic, Grand Horizons returns to the Auckland stage. A comedy about a marriage tested by retirement living, this show sees family ties threaten to unravel.

Boutique market

7 Papakura-Clevedon Rd, Clevedon, 9am-2pm

On the fi rst Sunday of the month, a boutique market is held at the Little White Cottage based in Clevedon. On the main street behind Clevedon Creatives+Co, the cottage’s gorgeous position is nestled in front of the Hunua Ranges. The cottage is an extension of Clevedon Creatives + Co and with time will become a ‘Creative Learning Hub’ for the community, and at times during the month Clevedon Creatives holds meetings for its members.

Turning Workshop

Uxbridge Arts and Culture, 35 Uxbridge Rd, Wednesday, May 18 from 3.30-4.30pm, Saturday May 21, 11am–12noon

Join artist Lucinda Boermans who has her current exhibition Turning at the Malcolm Smith Gallery. The interactive, experiential workshops will include guided activities suited to young children and aimed to encourage the exploration of turning, fi rstly through acted out movement and then marking their fi ndings on paper. The paper works children create will then be displayed for a period of time in the gallery. The workshops are free to attend for children ages 2-7.

Pakuranga Choral Society

Sunday, May 22, 2.30pm, All Saints Church, Howick

It’s Christmas in May for Pakuranga Choral Society! The choir’s fi rst concert for 2022 is not all seasonal music, with some classical treats and some rousing gospel spirituals to liven things up. The choir has two special guests. Helen Capes will bring her Northumbrian small pipes to play ‘Show Me the Child’ and a new work by conductor David Hamilton. Also, returning to NZ is soprano Andrea Creighton who will sing a Mozart favourite with the choir, and in solos by Bizet and Franck.
