MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR My Party’s Over – It’s time to Call it A Day. . . I’ve had the privilege of serving as the Chair of the Chamber Board of Directors for the past year. On November 6, I will have the honor of handing the gavel over to Kyle Snyder of Land Title Guarantee Company who will then take over as Chair of the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce. It has been a very rewarding experience to work with the 19 local business leaders who comprise the Board of Directors. On March 30 this year, Kathy Weber-Harding resigned as President/CEO of the Chamber

after having served in that capacity for eight years. Shelley McLeod became the interim President/CEO in addition to her responsibilities as Membership Director. As interim, she has led the staff to accomplish great things over the past few months. PEAK|2015 debuted in August, created by Shelley and the Chamber’s Industry Council. This very successful event featured over 30 companies displaying their wares and ideas. It was interesting to see the variety of industries at the showcase that all call the Longmont area home. There was also added an educational component featuring booths manned by

It is time to celebrate! 2015 has been a year of changes for the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce. Join us in celebrating the past and a bright future. A fantastic awards line up is planned for this year including awards for Rookie Business, Small Business and Large Business of the Year. An award sponsored by the Longmont Community Foundation is given to a Nonprofit of the Year. Winners are chosen by Chamber members. A Safety Champion award will also be presented to a member of the Chamber’s Pinnacol work comp safety program. In addition to an exciting awards ceremony, we will formally welcome Bruce R. Partain as the Chamber’s new CEO and witness the Board Chair Gavel as it is passed from 2015 Board Chair Carol Schack of ReMax Traditions, Inc to in-

students participating in school programs focusing on technology such as the Innovation Center and a robotics team. The success of this event was largely due to the great work of the Chamber staff. By now, you may be getting the idea that I’m a big fan of the Chamber staff. They have been my “rock” through my tenure as Board Chair and have made me look good even when I’ve messed up. They’re all true professionals who juggle many tasks and responsibilities and always with a smile. One of the more arduous tasks this year for the Board was the hiring of a President /CEO for the Chamber. After many weeks

coming Board Chair, Kyle Snyder of Land Title Guarantee Company. As we look forward to another year of Chamber service to the business community, your business has an opportunity to support the Chamber. Sponsorships are available for this event. There is also an opportunity to support future Chamber members and business leaders. On the sponsorship form, is a place to donate funds to the Chamber’s Education Committee. Funds support various St. Vrain Valley and Front Range Community College students through projects, involvement and education. Sponsorship/Registration information is available online at www.LongmontChamber.org or email Scott Cook, Event & Program Director, at scook@longmontchamber.org. You will not want to miss our celebra-

of vetting over 22 excellent applications, phone interviews, personal interviews and rigorous panel interviews to reduce the field to just 3 finalists, the Board of Directors hired Bruce Partain, CCE, IOM, from Nacogdoches, Texas, to be the President/ CEO of the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce. Bruce has 14 years experience as a Chamber CEO and will be starting work here on October 13th. I want to extend a huge “thank you” to Shelley McLeod who did an amazing job as interim President/CEO all while keeping up her main job as Membership Director. You rock, Shelley — Carol Schack, 2015 Board Chair
