Jeffers brought the Cougars right back down the field and scored on an 8yard run with 1:14 left in the half. He added another touchdown from 13 yards out in the third quarter. Brandon Ossont took over late and carried four times for 57 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Cicilioni and Galantini helped Valley View overwhelm Carbondale up front. Cicilioni had two sacks and another tackle for a loss among his five tackles total. He also had an assist and rushed the passer into an interception. Galantini had five tackles, including one for a loss, and four assists. The Cougars improved to 2-0 while the Chargers fell to 0-2.
STATISTICAL NOTES Valley View led 16-6 in first downs, 265-15 in rushing yards and 375-79 in total offense. Remington Hedden led Carbondale in rushing with 28 yards on eight carries. Gigliotti was 9-for-15 for 64 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Martin caught three of the passes for 56 yards. Callejas was 3-for-5 for 90 yards and a touchdown. Lalli caught two passes for 82 yards and completed his only pass for 20 yards. Tyler Kapinus had four tackles and two assists for Valley View. Stephen White, who forced a fumble, and Sam Demianovich had four tackles each to lead Carbondale.

Mark Palma, Assistant Administrator, Mountain View Care Center, Scranton, recently was awarded the 2011 Leo C. Woelkers Jr. Memorial Distinguished Service Award. Kyle Kiehart connected with Alex Filarsky with seven passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns Friday night to lead Lakeland to a 32-16 victory over visiting Mid Valley. Kiehart finished with 190 yards and three touchdown passes from Lakeland, which also got almost 200 yards on the ground from its top two running backs. Ryan Nichols carried 24 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns while also kicking two extra points for the Chiefs (1-1).Tyler Brady added 76 yards on 14 carries. Antonio Russo led Mid Valley (0-2) with 140 yards and a touchdown rushing. Kiehart hit Filarsky for the first two touchdowns, including the only score of the first quarter on a drive of more than 80 yards. Nichols returned a punt into Mid Valley territory to set up his own 6-yard touchdown with 4:18 left in the half. Exactly two minutes later, Kiehart found Filarsky for a 61-yard touchdown on Lakeland’s next play to make the lead 25-0. PECKVILLE – Tyler Phillips and Patrick Jeffers formed an effective tailback rotation while Chris Cicilioni and Mike Galantini made up a onetwo punch in the defensive front to help Valley View put away Carbondale early Friday night. Phillips ran for three touchdowns in the first 8:22 and Valley View opened a 28-point lead in the first quarter on the way to a 49-6 romp. Going into the final play of the first quarter, Valley View had outgained Carbondale, 192-minus 17, to build its big lead. “Early on, I thought we
did a real good job,” Valley View coach George Howanitz said. “We got a little sloppy later, but all in all, I thought we did a good job.” Phillips had four runs of at least 15 yards and two more gains of 8 while carrying10 times for 92 yards and three touchdowns. Jeffers picked up at least six yards on every carry while running for 78 yards and two touchdowns on eight attempts. “They’re a little different runner,” Howanitz said. “Tyler’s a little faster and Pat’s a little more of a power runner. “I think we’re usually them pretty equally.
