It is not enough to just have a vision for a new business to succeed.

Utmost dedication, determination, hard work and the steely resolve to do well must all combine to attain success. Al Hajiry Group did all that and more in its brief existence of just twenty years. Today it is one of the foremost business houses in Oman, thanks largely to the vision of its Chairman Nasser bin Khamis bin Juma Al Hashar and the untiring efforts of his team to realise his dream.

The success has been beyond all expectations and the chairman minces no words in admitting to this heart-warming fact.

“I had a vision for the company but I never imagined we would be able to accomplish this much in such a short time frame,” he stated with a smile in an interview to the Times of Oman.

Corporate excellence is always a result of many things put together at the right time, in right proportion and in the right way. Al Hairy Group had the vision to do just that and the policy of each company/ division complementing the other paid off big time. In just two decades, what had started as a small unit has grown into a leading Omani business group that presents itself as another glorious chapter in the remarkable story of the Blessed Renaissance.

Nothing pleases Sam Varghese, Managing Director, Al Hajiry Group, more than this saga of success and the promise of Al Hajiry’s continued growth.

“Our growth stemmed from the need to be self-sufficient. We started to establish businesses that both complemented current products and services or business which catered to in-house requirements instead of outsourcing,” he said explaining the vision behind such inspiring success in an interview to the Times of Oman.

Here, in an interview, the MD explains the vision, the journey, challenges, success, the ambition as well as the future plans.

As Al Hajiry Group enters a new home and a whole new phase of growth and promise, how do you feel as its Chairman?

I am thankful to God. I am also grateful to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for the gracious support we have received from the government. I am also thankful to the banks for financially supporting us as we started to grow; to our clients for believing and trusting in us when we were just starting and to our employees for their > 2

Stage-wise inspections control every step of the manufacturing process, from raw materials to blasting and painting. The acceptance criteria calibrated to international standards like ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, ASME B31.3, ASME Section II, Swedish Standards (SA 2.5), ASNT ASTM, determine if the products pass quality control checks.

“Our quality control inspectors are certified by ASNT (American Society of Non Destructive Testing) for NDT LEVEL – 2 in NonDestructive Examination (NDE) Methods: RT (Radiography), MT (Magnetic Particle Inspection), VT (Visual Inspection), PT (Penetrant) & UT (Ultrasonic).

“We also have specialised quality control inspectors who are certified welding inspectors (AWS (American Welding Society), certified welding inspector or CSWIP Level 2 welding inspector, certified by TWI Certification Ltd, UK and certified painting inspectors (BGAS - CSWIP painting inspector - Grade 2).

“Our team of skilled welders (6G, 3G and 4G) is tested annually to ensure their welding meets the standards set by ASME Section IX, thus ensuring the highest quality of

The new liquid mud plant at Safah which consists of fabrication and installation of nearly 35 tanks (API 650), storage tanks, silos and other pressure vessels is a testament to our operational excellence.

Today, Al Hajiry Mechanical Engineering is a valuable partner in providing products and services to the oil, gas and petro-chemical industries. In the year 2014 alone, we manufactured nearly 800 quality controlled cabins and accessories for drilling rigs.

traction and processing of new virgin materials and by-passing energy and green house gas.

• Using building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from their transportation.

• Reducing the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous or potentially irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants, thereby ensuring the comfort and well being of construction workers and building occupants,” he added.

AL HAJIRY ROADS & BRIDGES

Supporting the growth of the nation Paving the way to the future The Duqm Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has been making a rapid leap from the drawing board into the implementation phase.

It is widely hailed as a significant game-changer for Oman’s longterm economic development.

Covering an area of 1,777 sq km, with 80 kilometres of oceanfront, the Duqm SEZ is set to be the biggest economic zone in the Middle East.

Vigorous construction activities are taking place at the zone with Tens of thousands of workers expected to be mobilized, as a number of contractors and service providers converge within the zone for construction of dif-

ferent facilities.

To accommodate these blue collar workers, Duqm Permanent Accommodation for Contractors (Duqm PAC), a joint initiative of Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority and Renaissance was set up, offering high standards of facilities and services at unbeatable prices.

Al Hajiry Projects plays a vital role in this project. It is responsible for construction of the five main accommodation blocks for 12,000 clients, a mosque and guard houses as part of the Duqm PAC for Renaissance Services SAOG. The total built up area being 103,500 sqm.

Al Hajiry Roads & Bridges is further supporting the growth of this economic zone by constructing internal roads (9.8+20.00) KM at various locations in Duqm through phase 1& 2.

Its work involves the construction of multi cell box culverts with Inlets/Outlets, Embankment filling with Sabkha treatment, Sub base, Aggregate Base course and Bituminous Base course.

It is also responsible for the installation of road furniture like Road markings, Steel Guard rails, concrete barriers and slope protection works at various locations in the road.

The Al Hajiry Roads and Bridges (R&B) division is specially structured and staffed to undertake infrastructure projects for both government and private sectors.

For the Rass Al Hadd, Al Suwayh project Al Hajiry Roads & Bridges constructed 32 cell box culverts with a 2 kilometre road and 1 kilometre dyke.
