The BBC Micro:bit is an extremely versatile micro-computer. It has a built in 25 LED matrix display, two programmable buttons, physical connection pins, motion detectors, light and temperature sensors, wireless communication and a USB interface.

As a result of all these features it is visually appealing, tactile, easy to use and extensible.

In comparison to traditional screen-based experiences of computing, physical computing, such as using the Micro:bit, can be much more positive because it allows for a focus on ideas and is less restrictive.

It is suitable for students from 2nd class onwards and can be programmed using free online resources such as scratch.mit.edu and makecode.microbit.org
