A FLOWER FAIRY TALE BY TIMO BOLTE
P
robably everyone knows the fairy tale of the little girl Alice, who enchanted by a talking white rabbit, ends up in a strange wonderland, either by the Disney movie or the book by Lewis Carroll from 1865. It also became an important source of inspiration for composers, designers and photographers. A lot of music videos were recorded in the style of Alice and her adventures. The best example is ‘What You Waiting For?’ by Gwen Stefani. Designers like to return to this inspiring theme in the world of fashion. And also the Austrian florist Timo Bolte. Fashion and flowers are a very important combination for him. His hometown of Vienna with its luxuriant Art Nouveau plays a big role in his ‘Alice in Wonderland report’. Timo emphasizes the floral headdress, a theme in fashion that is here to stay. He brings several variations to the same theme, from large, object-like floral creations to stylized flowers in gilt metal with which he leans towards the Vienna Secession, an art movement in Vienna of the fin de siècle. Enchanting, fairytale-like, but also a tad decadent!
