Wolf letter: Crossword puzzle lovers We are residents of Valley View Retirement home and enthusiastic fans of crossword puzzles. We greatly enjoy our daily hour of working on the puzzles of Timothy E. Parker, your resident puzzle author.
Tim is a clever, ingenious and humorous puzzle maker. A good deal of the fun comes from trying to figure out where he’s coming from with his clues, e.g. “Farm Butter” turns out to be “Ram,” which might butt you on a farm if you’re not careful; “One of 7” is “Sea” as in one of the 7 Seas; “Arizona Neighbor” is “Sonora,” down Mexico way. We often find ourselves talking affectionately to Tim in such comments as, “Tim, you clever rascal, you fooled us that time,” or “Nope, Tim, we’re on to you.” We’d like to say to Tim, “Chapeau,” which every puzzler knows is the French word for “hat,” but in the vernacular means, “We tip our hats to you out of respect.” So take a bow, Timothy, you deserve it.
