The innovative practice known as interprofessional education (IPE) has gained support from clinical and non-clinical professions. The integration of interprofessional healthcare education in contexts including social work, nursing, business, university administration, and community collaborations has been demonstrated in several research. Studies have shown that by developing a systematic model to provide the groundwork before execution, the IPE program will be more effective and successful.
IPE is an all-encompassing activity of the Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) that spans both the Pomona and Lebanon campuses and several institutions. The integrated curriculum at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine (WUCDM), which starts with first-year dental students and continues for four years, is an example of IPE. This cross-integrated clinical system for dentistry, nursing, physician assistants, pharmacy, and optometry will start as a non-clinical IPE.
