In order for a company to preserve its market position and increase competitive advantage, it must be able to create new knowledge, rather than just rely on the use of existing ones. Therefore, continuous training plays an important role in the development of individual and organizational performance. Most organizations invest 3-5% of income in the education of their employees. Those organizations that want to keep up with the changes, are accepting the model of permanent, continuous education. Our training includes a theoretical part, but the main focus is on exercises and practical applicability of newly acquired knowledge. The training combines tools such as individual and group work, discussions, case studies, exercises, video examples, group and individual projects.

The College of Economics American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina represents the introduction of new concept of education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region in the field of economics, finance, business, management, sales, and marketing. This unique concept is based on the most current theories of economic, finance, management and business that are also studied in the world’s leading universities and business schools. The need for establishing such a center for education was observed after extensive analysis of currently available educational programs of economics, financial and business solutions in the Western Balkans region, or predictions about future developments of the business world in the area of globalization and the strengthening of different economic and political regions such as the European Union. Evidently the economy, finance, and business, either as theory or as practice, are no longer what they had been up to only a decade ago and that adjustment to changes made by the explosive growth of transport and information communication, stock markets, international trade, migration, and the digital economy will have a crucial influence on the future of every person or company. For this reason, individuals and companies that want to be competitive and successful in this process must constantly be trained and adapted to these emerging trends. The College of Economics offers study programs at undergraduate, masters and postgraduate levels. STUDENT’S EXPERIENCES Damir Agović, Google Online Media Associate: ˝What matters is the opportunity to work in an international environment, that teaching was done in a foreign language, and that the educational institution focuses on international cooperation. I also believe that my AUBiH diploma was a useful thing since Google is an American company. Google’s main goal is to recognize professionals and their ability to work within the internet industry.˝

Naida Čamdžić, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ˝I got my first job in Financial Audits, three months upon graduation from AUBiH. I can freely say that the knowledge acquired through my education has helped me immensely. Before everything else, the approach to work, team work, studies in English, and communication skills have defined my success in everyday work with my clients.”

Amar Pap, American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina ˝It is one thing to educate myself through different educational channels and by the very application of different teaching methods on core values present in a workplace such as integrity, loyalty, and responsibility; and it is a completely different thing to experience it in a real working environment. Thanks to the AUBiH Career Development Center, I’m already half way there to become a competent employee - the employee that the majority of companies would seek due to the previously mentioned core values learnt during the particular practicum.˝

Selma Isabegović Klaur International ˝I have graduated with a degree in economics from American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina which has offered me the opportunity to present myself the best and on a global level. I have started my career at the Mining Institute in Tuzla where I have been engaged as a book keeper, followed by my promotion as a sale manager in another company. Currently, I am a General Manager in my own company that is the exclusive distributor of cosmetic and medical packaging produced in Italy. ˝

Dario Jovanović, Center of Civic Initiatives “I was lucky to find a job following the first day upon graduation. Today I am working as a Project Coordinator in the Center for Civic Initiatives, which is the leading non-governmental organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina”

Amar Brkan, USAID PHARE Project “After a month since graduation I have found the job of an economic consultant at USAID PHARE project, which focuses on improving economic reforms. Currently, I am working as a General Secretary, of the Association of Professional Risk Managers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
