SITE LANDSCAPE FRAGMENTATION

URBAN SPREAD 台中市腫瘤式的都市成長模式,圍繞著都會邊緣節點、公路系統、交 流道分布,混合城市與鄉村的土地利用型態,碎裂化、異質化的景觀 中間地帶(Middle Landscape)

past

Taichung city grow with a tumor growth like pattern. Every center is surrounded by urban edge nodes, road system, highway interchanges. With mixture of both urban and rural land use, it forms 'Middle Landscape' which fragementation and heterogeneous exist.

present

URBAN STRUCTURE ANALYSIS

future

'Pure nature' does not exist anymore, urbanization around the globe has created Global Mega City-Region. The region formed by urban spread and urban-rual complex is more closer to the Hybrid landscape or Land mosaics, mentioned in Landscape ecology.(楊沛儒 2011)

Dakeng faces the problem of landscape fragementation due to various human developments

Most of the main core of regional development has disapeared, resulting in regional structure fragementation.

據點式規劃,透過據點間的連通、引導等,使農業與遊憩產業 彼此產生供給與需求,拓展彼此之可能性。

GOAL_VISION

Most of the main core of regional development has disapeared, resulting in regional structure fragementation.

REGION DEVELOPMENT CORE TRANSITION

Yago Park was very influential to the region's prosperity. As a main structural core, It attracted a massive tourism growth and brought up a sub-core on the west. But since it's closure the main and sub-core has transited to the Roundabout business district.

The other two amusement park, Dongshan and Kaduoli, like Yago park at the south, they became the main region development core, attracted not only tourism but also real estate business. but prosperity of northern Dakeng quickly after the closure of these two parks. The former sub-core became present main core, but hasn't much influence to the region.

select important nodes with potential of transportation, resources, low environmental impact etc. redevelop them into new regional development main cores, gradually build up a new development structure.

CONCEPTUAL SPACE PLANNING

C

MAIN DESIGN AREA With the highest density of artificial facilities and buildings, the centre of the park was the most focused and crowded area in the park. In order to achieve the goal of creating a human-artificial-natured combined space, we decided to start with this area which has the most human influences to break down exsisting structure and reach the balance of human and nature, following the concepts and methods mentioned before. We tried to decrease artificial surfaces, break down unnecessary artificial structures, increase the interface of human and wild nature. In the mean time, create space carrying stories and identities of the place with tension, fusion, and peace. Also replace it's former functions into new recreation, educational function, providing a new place to have fun, learn more and care about the natural environment.

agricultural DIY and recreation area when human starts to create spaces with mainly nature ground surface, nature is able to penetrate or seep into human territory, human can also dwell in natural environment. we break the former concrete ground surface into pieces, build artificial facilities vertically instead of horrizontally. allowing plants to grow, increase the interface between human/artificial and nature both horrizontally and vertically. section CC'

STROLL IN THE BAMBOO FOREST Who is the main character of this place? broken beams and columns or the randomly grown bamboo forest? comprised with both hard and soft materials, the space performs a scene of conflict and fusion. We removed the ceiling of this former ballroom underground. leaving few of it's beams and columms, extends the agricultural bamboo forest nearby into this place, to have soil, plants, agriculture take over again.

HAVE FUN WITH NATURE

Human needs interior spaces, however, as a part of nature, human should follow the natural terrain or topography, build the space we need within the gaps that nature left for us, so that human, circulation, architecture, forest interweave. we made up some spaces as environmental education workshops or classrooms, and a playground for kids to play with materials from the forest. section CC'

SCREENING ROOM AND EXHIBITION SPACE we should accept nature instead of blocking it, then we will understand the beauty of it. This former reataurant is built by changing the terrain, we redesigned it following the terrain lines, breaking up walls, backfilling earthworks. This allows direct access to the mountain.
