ABOUT ME

Hello, Tina here :)

I am a second year product design BSC student at Nottingham Trent University. I have always had a passion for design and I am eager to learn and understand new things. I would love to someday improve peoples’ quality of lives through aspects of design. I am hard working and resilient. Currently, I am trying to develop new skills to contribute to making me a better designer. I love traveling and immersing myself in different cultures and wish to have the opportunity to do this more in the future. This portfolio contains pieces that demonstrate my work as a developing designer. Enjoy!

Brief

Design and develop a sustainable packaging solution for toy cars

The packaging must aid play dates between children

Must be prominently made of carton board

Solution

I created a multi-use packaging solution for mini toy cars. The packagings unique shape allows it to function as a storage box for the toy cars. It can be colored in and used as a board game between play mates.

The Effects of The Pandemic on Children

Covid cases rise and people are forced to stay home

My inspiration

Social interaction between children is at an all time low

Children’s behavioral and social development skills are affected due to the lack of social interaction

1. both lids are removed and mid section is opened 2. Color the inside of the midsection

Brief

Design a toilet brush that is aesthetically pleasing, hygienic, convenient, easy to use, and is fully made of plastic

Solution

I designed the HI-brush, a toilet brush that eliminates dripping , reduces the possibility of airborne germs and back pain when using the brush. The brush head is replaceable and the product is fully recyclable and therefore, sustainable.

The current issue

The new generation is now relying on technology in their day to day life

Blue light from screens suppresses melatonin levels which delays sleepiness

Bonding time between children and parents is at an all time low due to the excessive use of electronics

Of parents state that their children prefer stories with illustrations

This statistic was conducted using an Instagram poll with 20 parents

Why?

The use of pictures and graphics helps children engage with the story more. Books are quite fascinating to read due to the effective use of visuals.

“Results document children’s deliberate use of images and point to the important role of images in text processing”. KAREN M.
