On behalf of the team I would like to wish you a warm welcome and hope that you enjoy your stay. We’ve put together this guide to help you make the most of your time with us. Whether you are using the marina for the first time or berthing your boat for a year, it should provide you with valuable information on the facilities here at the marina, as well as details on local services and places to visit. MARINA FAC I L I T I E S Below is a list of the facilities available to you at the marina and how to access them. If you experience any issues at any time, please don’t hesitate to contact the marina office for assistance. Tel: 0118 948 2911 Email: thameskennetmarina@tingdene.net

Opening Times: Mon-Sat: 9am-5pm Sunday: 10am-5pm (10am-4pm during GMT)

CHANDLERY We have a small on-site chandlery located in the marina reception building that carries a selection of boating essentials. If we don’t have it in stock, we can order most items required to get you safely out on to the water. Just ask a member of the team. Please note, we are also a ‘SeaSafe’ life jacket service point.

ELECTRICITY Electricity is provided at each berth. For top ups, please contact the marina reception who will be able to help you. Please use the electrical outlet as instructed by the marina team. Electricity connections are provided by the marina at the user’s own risk and it is the user’s responsibility to ensure that they have the correct fitting for their on-board systems. FUEL Diesel is available on the service pontoon. This is a self-service system so please fill up and then pay in the marina reception. Don’t forget, annual berth holders get 15% discount on fuel sales, just show your loyalty card.

PA R K I N G Parking is available on site at Thames and Kennet marina. Annual berth holders can park up to 2 vehicles, although during busy periods the car park can become very busy so please can we politely ask that where possible, you try to arrive in only one vehicle.

WAT E R Drinking water is available on the pontoons. You will need a hose and a tap connector. May we please ask you to use water considerately.

SECURITY PETS Pets are welcome at the marina. All dogs must be kept on a lead when walking in public areas. Please pick up after all pets and place waste in the bins provided. 08

We operate 24hr security on our pontoon gates. On arrival you will receive a key fob / access codes for the pontoon gates. Please do not share these codes with anyone outside of the marina or with anyone on the pontoon seeking to gain access. If you have any difficulty with access please speak to the marina office.


SHOPPING Caversham village centre is only a 10 minute drive away and here you will find all the shops you need to stock up with supplies. Henley-on-Thames is only 10 minutes by road if you fancy a wander round the shops and stroll along the riverbank and of course, our on-site chandlery has all the boating essentials. Walk

TROLLEYS Trolleys have been provided for berth holder use. Please feel free to use as and when required. We would ask you to be mindful of not leaving trolleys to obstruct walkways and to return them as soon as you’ve finished.

WiFi

PUMP OUT & ELSAN Pump out is located on our service pontoon and is free to annual berth holders. Tokens are available from the marina reception. We have two elsan points, each located outside of the facility buildings (see map).

RUBBISH Recycling and general waste is located in the marina car park and outside of the north marina facilities. This is for domestic waste only. If you have any larger items please speak to a member of the team for help and advice.

WORKING O N YO U R B O AT Please note we do not allow maintenance work to be conducted on the pontoons or fingers. You may carry out any work on-board your boat. Should you require contractors to undertake work for you please ensure they are registered with the marina office before starting.

We have free Wi-Fi throughout the marina; pop into the marina office and collect your unique log in details.

SHOWERS & TOILETS Showers and toilets are available at both the north and south pontoons. They are cleaned regularly and we ask that you leave them as you wish to find them. Coppa Club Just a couple of miles down the River Thames, the Coppa Club focuses on thoughtful, unfussy, European food from small plates and snacks to grilled mains, sourdough pizzas and healthy salads. The Dock Bar & Café - located at the marina After a long day on the water, why not relax and enjoy a drink and bite to eat whilst watching the sun set over the marina. Bel and the Dragon Head south down the River Kennet and soon you’ll reach Bel & The Dragon, a former biscuit factory located on the waterfront of the Kennet & Avon Canal. The Tap Yard With six Loddon draft beers on draft – plus a rotating cider keg – the tapyard has seating for 230 people on a beautiful farm just a mile from Reading. THINGS TO SEE & DO Whether you’re planning a family holiday, a day trip with friends or a romantic getaway, there’s plenty of things to do during your visit to Thames and Kennet Marina. Thames Valley Park Follow your outdoor imagination! With more than 80 acres of wetland habitat alongside the River Thames, you’ll find great routes for exploring the Thames Valley nature reserve either on foot or by bike. The reserve’s extensive areas of wildflower-rich grassland, ponds and clusters of native trees and shrubs are home to a diverse range of wildlife and almost 40 different species of birds, making this a perfect spot for wildlife and bird spotting. www.thamesvalleypark.com/for-leisure Reading Abbey Quarter The Reading Abbey Quarter was created to bring together the unique, cultural heritage that exists within the former grounds of Reading Abbey, which was once one of Europe’s largest royal monasteries. SAFETY NOTICE PLEASE READ Tingdene Marinas Ltd ask all Marina Users to follow these simple safety measures and to inform all guests and visitors of them: This is a working marina, with boat towing occurring at all times. Please be aware of the danger of these activities. The pontoons and walkways are slippery in wet or icy conditions; please take extra care. Salt or grit is provided for your use if required. Please keep pontoons clear of all equipment and rubbish. Dogs must be kept on a lead and not allowed to foul the pontoon areas. Children and non-swimmers must wear life jackets at all times. Children must not be allowed to ride in the luggage trolleys. Bicycles must not be ridden on the pontoons or ramps. Do not run on the pontoons. Swimming is not allowed in the Marina basin. BBQs are not allowed on the pontoons. In extreme weather and / or flood conditions life jackets must be worn by all marina users and the Marina will be closed to navigation. Please contact the Marina Office for current navigation advice. Danger: the electric supply to the pontoons is threephase mains. Do not tamper with the electric supply. Report all faults to Marina staff.

Please report all accidents, and any damage or faults, to Marina staff as soon as possible. All trade visitors must report to the Marina office prior to entry. Do not discharge oil, sewage or any other pollutants into the Marina basin.


FIRE DRILL 1. Sound the Alarm and shout ‘FIRE’. The marina Fire Alarms are located on the marina side of the main reception building. 2. Call the Fire Brigade. Dial 999. Advise marina name and address, and location of Fire on site: Thames and Kennet Marina, Henley Road, Reading, RG4 6LQ Do you need an Ambulance and/or the Police? 3. Contact Marina staff as soon as possible. 4. Communicate danger to all Marina users and evacuate. Do not re-enter danger area. Avoid panic; communicate actions. 5. Evacuate injured persons from fire area if this is possible safely and without further injury. Do not endanger further persons. Your assembly point is: Grass area of the car-park in front of marina reception 6. Evacuate all pontoons and/or buildings. If your evacuation route from the pontoons is blocked, gather at the safest point on your pontoon and await rescue boat (Marina Workboat). 7. Do you require First Aid? First Aiders: Richard Birch. Bridge Road Doctors Surgery: Emmer Green Surgery (01189) 486900. 8. Note areas of additional hazard: Fire, Gas Bottles, Oil Spill, Electrocution, Smoke, Explosion, Pontoon Collapse, Wind Direction.

9. Nominate staff members to meet Fire Brigade. 10. Can the fire be fought safely? IF NO: - Await Fire Brigade - Review actions - Keep Marina users away from danger area IF YES: - Locate fire-fighting equipment - Extinguish fire (Remember the ‘Fire Triangle’: Heat-Fuel-Air Remove any one and the fire goes out). - Ensure Fire Brigade attend and render safe 11. Are all persons accounted for safely? Ask other Marina users. 12. Is the Fire safely extinguished? Ask Fire Brigade. When safe, communicate this clearly to Marina users.
