LAPIDARIUM A MUSEUM THAT CONNECTS DIFFERENT HISTORIC LAYERS Studio work of the Public Building Studio Group work with Ram贸n Cordova Gonzalez and Jacqueline van der Aart Oct. 2015 - still in progress Rome is supposed to be a history book, but its fences deny the freedom to walk and experience. The fragments of the city, the churches and cathedrals, all the monuments in Rome are creating crazy noise in the city. The way we perceive the world is based on contrast, for example one cannot feel the happiness before he knows what sadness is. In order to help people to remember the history of the site, to understant the elements of the site, our strategy is doing the opposite: the void. This approach to lapidarium, makes people free in this nosiy Rome. There are many ways to further develop this new monument in the city. Instead of making something big and tall, which is still a way of repeating existing Rome with a different appearence, we decided to look back to its history, which provides us a new perspective of the future. We realised the river next to the site is actually the biggest void in the city. At the same time it is still the origin of the city, but now it is abandoned by its citizens. We approach to the water, by multiple plints of different heights. The museum lies under the landscape, with an entrance of glass and water in the center, echoing the Mausoleum of Augustus and its surroundings.

WOOD A RENOVATION PROJECT OF OFFICE BUILDING Five-week Workshop of Buidling Technology Individual work Fall 2015 The site is located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. It is a building of shops downstairs and offices upstairs. The task is to renovate this building in a more ecological and environmentally friendly way, with the material: wood. The research began with the property of the wood. Thus we understand different types of wood are used in different parts, in terms of structure, humidity, resilience to fire and etc.. This project changed the exisiting concrete structure into suitable wooden structure. The ecological solution mainly focus on the double facade part. Its louvre can move electronically when there is a need. The floor contains a system of ventilation, the breathing windows. And underground there is a heat exchanger to help to keep the temperature inside steady and comfortable.

POP-UP MONUMENT A MONUMENT OF ROME THAT LINKS REALITY AND FICTION One-week Workshop of the Public Building Studio Group work with Ramón Cordova Gonzalez and Jacqueline van der Aart Oct. 2015 A Pop-up Monument in Rome should be an instrument that through movement stimulates the perception of a fragment of the city in a certain way that enables the creation of a memory in the people. The Ponte Sant’Angelo is the perfect scenario for a Pop-up Monument, because it combines two aspects: the imaginary and the reality. Allowing the people to move from one to another just as Dante did. In Dante’s world, The Notion of the appearance and disappearance it’s not about a physical appearance / disappearance, It´s about the mental appearance of an image... a memory. In the eighth circle of Hell, a fragment of Rome appears in Dante´s mind. The proposal is at the same time a public space in a symbolic spot of the city, and an abstraction of the eighth circle of Hell, using the San Angelo’s bridge as the stone bridge that Dante uses to cross to get to the ninth circle. The circular moats that conform the eighth circle are formed from vertical mirror plates. The mirror allows users to perceive the world from another perspective. The river is an integral part of the idea, by allowing the people to walk above it on a glass bridge that descends, creating a unique experience on this part of the city. Each level represents a moat of the eighth circle of Hell. The space changes as the user walks through it, turning in to an abstract place in the center of the bridge. This allows the user to have access to fragments of Rome, standing out the interstitial condition of the city. At the same time, the abstraction can be a metaphor (Heuristic) of Dante’s vision of Hell.
The Inferno The bridge was described in Dante's Inferno. It reminded him of the eighth circle of hell. Ten concentric moats, where the fraudulent are condemned. It is crossed by a bridge of rocks, and in the center there is a wide and deep moat; the center of the universe, the farthest point from God.
The Fragments The space should be an instrument that throught movement stimulates the perception of a fragment of the city in a certain way that enables the creation of the memory: about himself or Inferno.

THE MEMORY OF ZHIZILUO A FOLK-CULTURE MUSEUM AND LOCAL COMMUNITY CENTER Final project in Bachelor, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Individual work Winter 2014 - Summer 2015 Zhiziluo, Yunnan, China, is a village where a lot of ethnic people live. The museum serves as a way to preserve the folk culture and at the same time provides people the place for their important ceremonies and activities. Zhiziluo is a village of unique culture and background. The museum of it should be able to offer the authentic spirit of it. The design began with Lady Fish, one of the most important folk tale in Zhiziluo, and tried to introduce the elements of the story into the building. But the architecture should not abandon its reality: its geography. Therefore it adapts itself in the hilly slope, creating different places for the actvities. In order to respect the context, the building forms three axises facing three important monuments in the village.
