The Broken Ear (French: L'Oreille cassée) is the sixth of The Adventures of Tintin, the series of comic albums written and illustrated by Belgian artist Hergé, featuring young reporter Tintin as the hero. Traveling to the country of San Theodoros, Tintin is on the trail of a mysterious missing fetish identifiable by its broken ear, created by the fierce South American tribe, the Arumbayas.
First serialized in Le Petit Vingtième from 1935 to 1937, and first collected in book form in French in 1937, it was later redrawn and colourised in 1943.
