CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
Dear Friends!
I wish you all a “Happy Christmas to you.” Christmas is the celebration of God’s priceless gift for the salvation of all creation. This gift is purely out of God's love. However, the reality of this world is that while some accept this gift other reject his gift. St. John the Evangelist mentions that "the world did not know him" and "his own people did not accept him" (John 1:11). We know that God created us free, and we are free to accept his gift or reject it. There are many times in our lives we reject the gift Jesus has come to give us, and we opt to put other things before God. We believe in and seek after momentary happiness which money, power, fame, worldly pleasures or comfort provides. We doubt that we can trust God with our happiness, and we try to secure it ourselves. We can decide today to accept the gift of peace that surpasses all understanding which Jesus came to bring us through his incarnation. May you find Peace and JOY at this Christmas.
HOLY FAMILY MESSAGE
On the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, we are reminded that a Holy Family is the at the core of the plan of salvation. A family built on faith, Gospel values and love for Christ, where parents live a Holy and exemplary life respecting each other and accepting one another is the fertile ground for Jesus to be “Emmanuel”. Parenting is a great responsibility while Catholic Parenting is a mission. Mary and Joseph may surely have experienced the same emotions every parent does while raising a child, moments of anxiety and joy. However, .
“May you have a prosperous New Year 2025. May God Bless all Your families”
~ Father Augustine
OPLATKI CHRISTMAS WAFERS—AVAILABLE IN THE BACK OF CHURCH
The Oplatki Christmas wafer is a Catholic Christmas tradition. The unleavened wafers are baked from pure wheat flour and water, are usually rectangular in shape and very thin, and are identical in composition to the altar bread that becomes the Eucharist at the consecration during Mass the Roman Catholic Church. The Oplatki wafers are embossed with Christmas-related religious images, varying from the nativity scene, especially Virgin Mary with baby Jesus, to the Star of Bethlehem.
