of Pro-Life Activities, “Bridges of Mercy for Healing after Abortion”

My dear faithful,

The more we believe, the more shall we receive. Today Jesus proves that He is the Lord of life. He not only brings health and healing to the woman suffering from hemorrhage but restores the daughter of Jairus to life. The Gospel today narrates a miracle within a miracle. But the teaching point in both miracles is that faith unleashes God’s saving power. The woman had deep faith. She was eager just to touch the fringe of Jesus garment. That would be enough for her to be healed. There was a large crowd milling around Jesus but she alone touched Him! Jesus felt that touch of faith because he sensed that power had gone out of Him. We see the power of faith again in Jairus. As a synagogue official he was a man of some social status. But he falls on his knees and pleads with Jesus to come and save his daughter who was desperately sick. On reaching Jairus’ house, Jesus notices the commotion of the mourners wailing unrestrainedly. When he tells them that the little girl is not dead but asleep, they laugh at him. That is the laughter of unbelief! Those who believe do not laugh, they long for a miracle. Jesus, the God of surprises, surprises them as he raises the little girls back to life.
