LIFELINES

“Dearest St. Joseph… Help us to faithfully commit ourselves to the service and defense of human life especially where it is vulnerable or threatened. Obtain for us the grace to do the will of God in all things. Amen.”

“Prayer to St. Joseph, Defender of Life”

~ USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities,

God searching for Adam and asking, “Where are you? It demonstrates how God is always there to wait for us in every circumstance. No matter how miserable we get or how far we stray from the Lord, it doesn’t matter but what matters is we respond with trust to his love. So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, ultimately, our faith and the courage with which we are able to come back to the Lord are essential. Undeniably affirmed by God’s love for us. We also need to acknowledge our fragile and weak selves, through which our faith becomes shallow. Even though we overcome ourselves with our little faith, it is not by our own accord or achievement but by God’s grace, his free-given gift. And also remember just having faith alone is not sufficient; there is a cost and sacrifice involved in becoming a disciple of Jesus. It is to do the will of God. It is difficult at time to actually know the will of God. But one of the easiest ways to probably know God’s will is to be more loving, compassionate, merciful, and able to see Jesus in the other person.

~ Father Augustine
