O Tannenbaum Victorian Christmas Opens November 9 at Tioga County Historical Museum
The O Tannenbaum Holiday Showcase opens on November 9 at the Tioga County Historical Society Museum at 110 Front Street in Owego. This year's theme is "A Victorian Christmas" and everyone is invited to come and enjoy the holiday splendor and community spirit. There will be more than 100 trees, wreaths, and beautiful items that were decorated and donated by individuals, organizations and businesses. The items are part of a silent auction that occurs during the span of O Tannenbaum. All proceeds directly benefit the Tioga County

Historical Society. There will also be a Victorianera antique toy display and special activities for children. O Tannenbaum runs November 9 through December 14, with extended hours beginning the day after Thanksgiving. Opening Day for O Tannenbaum is on Saturday, November 9, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and will feature piano music by Rick Pedro (10am to noon), Travis Michaud (at 3pm), and Winnie Allen (6 to 8pm). Anna Felice, a student at Owego-Apalachin Middle School (OAMS), and Kate Hirschi, a student at Vestal Middle School (VMS) are the winners of the 26th Annual Peace Post Contest - Our World, Our Future sponsored by the Apalachin Lions and Lions International. More than 48 students participated in the local contest. Anna and Kate and their families were guests of the Apalachin Lions at the club’s meeting on October 23. Lions event District Governor Rick
Allabaugh presented each of the winners with a $50 savings bond. Pres. Rick Gray expressed the Apalachin Lions appreciation to teachers Jolene Williams from OAMS and Leigh Kaminsky, from VMS for the time and effort they expended on this project. The winning posters of Anna and Kate will now go on for judging at the Lions district level. If selected, the posters will be forwarded to Lions International for judging against entries from over 150 countries.
