Deacon’s NOTE Every year on the final Sunday in Ordinary Time the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Christ the King. The feast of Christ the King was added to the calendar of feasts by Pope Pius XI on December 11, 1925. The image of the Messiah King is everywhere in the Old Testament and Chris)ans today hail Christ as King of the universe. The end of the Church year is a )me to focus on the end of )me. None of us knows whether the end of the world or the end of our life will come first, but from the perspec)ve of our faith our prepara)on would be the same. Ma,hew’s chapter 25 reaches its climax and conclusion with the scene of the last judgment. This judgment includes all humanity, and “the least” includes all the people who suffer distress of some kind. Therefore, at the end all humanity will be judged by the good done to poor and suffering people…… God Bless. Deacon Ron Maida FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS—DECEMBER 2ND—NEXT SATURDAY

Sponsored by the Diocesan Offices for Parish Life and Vocations. NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS “Do not be afraid. Give him, if he asks it of you, your heart and your entire life.” St. John Paul II As Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our lives! He calls some to marriage, some to the priesthood, and other to religious life or to live as generous single people. Fully living our own vocations—and teaching young people how to discern God’s call—is a serious duty, but also a joyful one. Please encourage the young people in your life—children, grandchildren, students, and friends—to be open if God calls them to priesthood or religious life.
