TITANIC BELFAST TOPS THE BILL AGAIN FOR TRAVELLERS Titanic Belfast was recently announced as one of the winners of TripAdvisor® Travellers’ Choice® awards for Museums. The world-class attraction, located where the ship was designed, built and launched, and its nine interpretive and interactive galleries that explore the sights, sounds, smells and stories of Titanic, as well as the city and people which built her, was exclusively given the award, obtained by only 1% of all museums that are listed on TripAdvisor. Titanic Belfast has been recognised by the world-leading travel site since opening in 2012. Award-winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for museums worldwide, gathered over a 12 month period.

“Travellers can learn more about local culture and make trips more memorable by visiting famous museums,” said Brooke Ferencsik, senior director of communications for TripAdvisor. “This year’s award winning museums serve as inspiration for travellers wanting to join the trend and discover some of the world’s finest collections of art, science, culture and history.” This accolade adds to Titanic Belfast’s collection, as it was voted the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the prestigious World Travel Awards, bringing the title to Ireland for the first time in the awards history.

It has now welcomed over 5 million visitors from over 145 countries, including Her Majesty The Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, USA Presidential candidate of State Hillary Clinton and the discoverer of Titanic, Dr Robert Ballard.

THE SPIRIT OF THE SHIPYARD

S p i r i t o f t h e S h i p ya r d

TOP FIVE THINGS AT TITANIC BELFAST, ACCORDING TO YOU!

Inspired by one of the first ship builders in the city, Titanic Belfast’s new destination bar Hickson’s Point offers an authentic 1900’s public house setting, serving up the spirit of the shipyard with traditional music, entertainment, heritage décor and locally produced food. The themed dining space honours the name of Robert Hickson, credited as being the founder of what was to become the shipyard that built the ill-fated Titanic. Ironmonger Hickson sold the company to his shipyard manager Edward Harland in 1855. Harland was financed by GC Schwabe of Liverpool, whose nephew Gustav Wolff joined the firm as Harland’s assistant, and it became Harland & Wolff. Located on the plaza outside Titanic Belfast, Hickson’s Point reopens to the public for high-season on Saturday 16 March. There will be live music and entertainment throughout the weekend to get you in the St. Patrick’s Day swing!

1

THE SHIPYARD RIDE Explore the sights, sounds, smells and stories of the shipyard that built RMS Titanic on the Shipyard Ride.

2

THE FIT OUT Relive the splendour of RMS Titanic through the interactive exhibit which journeys through the ship’s engine rooms, working interiors, the opulent dining areas and deck promenade - don’t miss the replica cabins.

3

THE IMMERSIVE THEATRE Travel to the depths of the ocean and discover Titanic’s final resting place through the glass floor.

4

SS NOMADIC Famous as a tender for Titanic, and a quarter of her size in every dimension, guests love walking in the footsteps of Titanic passengers whilst marvelling at the original ornate doors, panels, plasterwork and staircases.

5

THE DISCOVERY TOUR Last but definitely not least, the walking tour that goes back in time and explores the famous barrel-vaulted Harland & Wolff Drawing Offices where Titanic and the rest of the mighty ‘Olympic’ class ships were designed, the slipways and brings the story up to date explaining significance of Titanic Belfast’s poignant façade is the must-do for visitors.
