HEALTH
HEALTH September 26, 2011 Coolhunt on the highway What it is… It’s a sushi stand on a market in IJsselstein. IJsselstein is a small city nearby my home place Nieuwegein. I often go to this market but I didn’t know the stand till I spot the car at the highway on my way to work. I couldn’t make a picture because my sister was driving too fast. Fortunately I could write down the name of their website in my mobile phone. When I came home I visited their site and found out they also have a stand in IJsselstein. Unfortunately there is only market on Friday. On Fridays it’s not possible for me to take a picture by myself. They sell different kinds of sushi. If you want to buy sushi it could be they haven’t your favourite taste. If you want to, you could order before so you’re sure they would have the sushi. Why it’s cool… This is cool because, it looks different then other market stands. It look far more modern and fresh compared to the other market stands. This sushi stand sticks out of the other stands. This was the first time I see people selling sushi on a market. Normally everybody eat sushi in a restaurants instead of taking it home. Now it’s like take away food. I have never seen this before so for me is it a different experience of eating sushi. It’s also cool because you see more and more people like eating sushi. A few years ago most of the people didn’t know it or didn’t like it much. In this century more people want to live and eat healthier. I think the health part s is another reason why this sushi market concept should be a big success. READ HERE

LEISURE November 13, 2011 The Village coffee & music What it is? The Village coffee & music. This coffee shop has risen up in March 2011 in the centre of Utrecht. You can find them in the Voorstraat 46. The village has a friendly home feeling. If you order your coffee you can take a seat on the old granny’s leather sofa’s or chairs. You can also take you coffee with you. The guys who are working there are friendly and know a lot about coffee. They also sell their own made cakes and cookies. And it looks delicious. And it’s not simply called the Village coffee & music. Because now and then there performs a band in the Village. Why it’s cool This is cool because… This coffee shop is different than other coffee shops. In the first place the interior. It gives you a feeling of home. For example: the banks. I have never seen this before (in Utrecht) in a coffee shop, couches in the shop. It gives me a relaxed feeling. Also the performance of the bands in the afternoon is innovative. Because you often see bands performing in restaurants but not in coffee shops. If you want to know when a band is playing in the Village you can take a look a their facebook page. And also significant is the fact that the prices are low. READ HERE

And finally there aren’t playing professional actors, but the residents are the actors. So, how does it work? A day before the play the visitors get an address. This address is necessary because this is the first place you have to visit. This visit is at somebody’s home in the neighborhood. After this visit you move on to other places in Slotermeer. No it’s an experience to go to this toilet because 2theloo has theme toilets. These themes will change periodically. And if you know a nice theme you can let them know! It’s also an experience because it’s a not just a toilet but also a shop. So you can also buy here your toilet products. And if you went to the toilet you get a coupon of 0,50 euro cents. This is valid when you buy something in the shop. Take a look for the latest news on their Facebook, Twitter, or Linkedin! Check the video about 2theloo on their website READ HERE

APPEARANCE January 15, 2012 BROMANCE -Bromo sexual manWHAT? So, the Bromo is the new man! It stands for: Brother and romance. These men have a very intense, platonic relationship with each other. They give each other a big kiss or hug without shame. Also they do many things together, like going out for dinner or they talk about life (like girls also do). COOL? I think it’s cool because these things are normal in a woman’s life, but this is a new phenomenon in the man’s world. It’s cool when a man does what he wants to do without thinking what other people will say about that. These are the real self-confidence men. The macho man would laugh about this but they don’t know what real emotions are! WHO? The most famous Bromo couple in Hollywod are Matt & Ben. They know each other for years. There is also made a drama about their intense relationship! So, that should be a very closed friendship… Another famous bromance couple is George Clooney and Brad Pitt. But Angelina thinks that George has a bad influence on Brad. How long would it take till the bromance break up? READ HERE
January 29, 2012 - EGO BLOGGER – WHO? This is Andy Torres. She is a personal style blogger. Nowadays there are many of these personal style bloggers. They also called ego blogger because they poste pictures of themselfs and their life stories on the internet. First I will tell you her life story. Andy was born in Mexico. She was a very tall girl for a Mexican. That’s why her mother makes her clothes on her size. One day she decided to learn sewing from her mother. This was the beginning; she became fascineted by fashion. She wanted to study fashion, but everyone told her not to go studying fashion because it’s bad on her CV. But she followed her heart and stopped with the university and went to studying fashion. While she was studying she got the opportunity to go to Amsterdam. She thought this would be a chance to make it in fashion world, but this is a hard world. She was jobless for a year and she didn’t had any friends or family in her surroundings. But she didn’t give up and started a blog in 2007. In the beginning she posted only about how to make clothes; do it yourself, she had learned from her mother. Later she was translating looks from magazines with looks of the catwalk and posted outfits looks of herself. She became very successful in 4 years, because of her personal style and her growing network. COOL? I think she is very cool… because she is actually an example for new bloggers. She has always believed in her dreams and her dreams came true. She started with a little blog about DIY’s and nowadays she is travelling around the world and goes to fashion shows all around the world. She meets new people and her network is growing bigger and bigger. Also she has got her personal style and that’s very important to be different than other bloggers. That’s also one of the reasons why she is so popular. READ HERE
APPEARANCE January 30, 2012 look out! men on heels Men on heels it sounds like a joke, but it’s deadly serious. This new trend was spotted already in Milan and now they are also spotted at Amsterdam Fashion Week. It sounds a little bit crazy but in the 15th century everybody was wearing heels also the men! They saw it as a symbol of power. Since the last centuries heels worn by women only.Heels worn by men are often related with homo sexual. But also the straight male of metrosexual could where high heels. Because it doesn’t have to like the heels of women no, they could also be cool. COOL In the last century, women fought for equal opportunities in the workplace. In this century it’s men fighting for equal rights in style. You see already different cosmetic products for men like nail polish or mascara. Isn’t it unfair to give only the women the opportunity to make themselves more beautiful with products and make themselves longer with high heels. It’s also a perfect solution short men, if his woman is wearing high heels he looks even smaller. This can improve their self confidence and make them happier. Lenny Kravitz have wearing already heels on New York Fashion week. READ HERE

March 11, 2012 more green in your life? start with your bike! These cute little things are bike planters and they are made with a 3D printer. So, they are not only a accessorize for your bike, they are also good for the environment and its a little piece of the future. Maybe are these good reasons to take now often your bike instead of the car. bron If you’re not bicycler or you’re don’t even have a bicycle…you will not escape of these new trend. Because there are a lot of other ways to get some green into your life. If you are a accessorize wearer this would be something for you! This concept and design called: Growing Jewelry and is made by Hafsteinn Juliusson. He said; “the collection is designed for city people and an experiment in drawing nature toward man, as nature being the presupposition of life”. bron why it’s cool… Actually are these things for beginners. Because it makes your life a little bit greener without too much effort and maybe this is the beginning to grow up to something more. If you’re living in a city this is the solution to become more aware about the environment. In the city you don’t have the space to put everywhere plants and trees. LIVING March 20, 2012 natural carpet WHAT Gaëlle Villedary is a French artist. He made this 1400 ft. long grass carpet all through the French Village of Jaujac. This beautiful piece of art called: Tapis Rouge. COOL This installation was created to reconnect the inhabitants of the village with the landscape surrounding them. Gaëlle used the green path to connect nature and people together and guided them to the heart of the village. I think this is a beautiful piece of art to create a connection between people and nature. Also it brings people together because the carpet guid you to the heart of the village. It actually creates a communion and thats exactly one of the goals of Gaëlle. This something like going back in the nature, enjoy your life and get away from your fast and busy life. Take it easy and take a breath! So this art installation is a piece of the trend slow living and sustainability. READ HERE

FOOD April 22, 2012 black market WHAT? “Tuesdays-Friday starting at 8:30 a.m. until we run out. And Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. until we run out.” Says a seller of the donut vault. The Donut Vault in Chicago is different than the other thousand donut shops in the US. Why are they distinguished from others? No, they haven’t a secret donut recipe, but they have ventured on the black market. The black market sounds very dark, but don’t be afraid! It’s not so dark as it sounds. It’s just a new trend in the food industry. We’re talking about a new way of food marketing; intentional scarcity. Why would you create scarcity? There is a growing use of intentional scarcity and limited supplies of items that only drive up their popularity. If it is hard to get a product (what makes the product special), we want that product immediately. COOL? This cool because the products are everyday fresh and home made. That’s just one of the reasons why it makes it special. In addition it’s environmentally friendly, because you will be run out at the end of the day and you wouldn’t have food left. So, there is no food waste. Food wasting has increased the last years. The black market could be a start to reduce this problem in the food industry. Take a look at the Tumblr of donut vault, you will be overwhelmed with delicious tasteful pictures. READ HERE
May 9, 2012 marshmallow vs cupcakes Everybody knows the (most of all) beautiful cute cupcakes. They are in all shapes, sizes, colors, flavors like strawberry or chocolate, with a big creamy topping. But.. Are you not tired of these cupcakes? I certainly do. Therefore I was looking for something news to serve on my birthday…and I found it; Say goodbye to the cupcakes and I will invite you to my new cute friends: the marshmallows. You know right? the little sticky sweets that you as little child always was eating at the campfire. Yes, it sounds maybe weird.. what can you make of these little sticky sweets? More stickier and sweeter than your teeth like. There are already different kind of recipes with marshmallows like the macmallow, a combination of marshmallow and macaroons. This is cool because the old sweets from your childhood have a coming back but on a new way. In different flavors, colors en dips. READ HERE
FOOD May 11, 2012 KOKEN MET KNEUSJES In English you would say: cooking with imperfect food WHAT This is a final project of a Lifestyle & Design student; Rosalie Noordam. She devised a culinary production; She wanted to exposure the beauty of the “ugly food”. Yearly there are tons of perfectly healthy and nutritious food thrown away, simply because the products do not meet the standard. We are talking about the trend NO WASTE, and she is a good example of a innovator who struggle against food waste. Her intention is to inspire people and make them aware. In the Netherlands you can’t buy crooked cucumbers because less will fit in the crate. Of course, a crooked cucumber taste different than a ‘normal’ cucumber, but this is bullshit. COOL It’s cool because this is a good statement against food waste. Maybe will all restaurant going to cook with this food. It just taste the same as normal, maybe even better. In addition, the shapes are looking beautiful on your plate. Cook with this food and you will help your own environment to make less food waste. READ HERE
HUMAN MOVEMENT
HUMAN MOVEMENT June 11, 2012 URBAN ATHLON WHAT After all new exercises and cross fit is now Urban Athlon. In September 2012 there will be the first Mens’s Health Urban Athlon & Festival in Amsterdam. Urban Athlon is not just a normal running race but a spectacular city race with obstacles. There isn’t flat asphalt trail and there are different obstacles where people have to climb over and crawl under like: a 12 km long storm course with cargo nets, climbing stairs and blockade of stacked cars. Participation in Urban Athlon is more important than winning, it’s about to dare yourself in a challenge. You committed to the race with the aid of preparation. Also its about the kick you get during this sensational city race. So, Urban Athlon is a challenge and is a new level to achieve. Why should urban nomads like this? Urban nomads are living in the city. In the city you can only run in the park. After four laps in the park it’s already boring. Urban Nomads don’t like boring things, they like challenges and new places. So, the urban Athlon is perfect for the urban nomads. Because this is always different, always on other places and has a lot of challenges. COOL Which game did you prefer with gymnastics when you were on grade school? Of course, “monkey cage” right? For the most of the people a youth sentiment: running and climbing over obstacles. Actually, Urban Athlon is a kind of “monkey cage” but than for adults. How amazing? Your beforetime favorite game is now officially a sport! But for this game you should have a better condition. It requires a lot of you: many training and discipline to improve your level. Dare yourself in a challenge! So, it’s not just a crazy monkey game but a serious sport! READ HERE
HUMAN MOVEMENT June 22, 2012 interweaved city WHAT Urban nomads are always on the way. They haven’t all the time, so they have to hurry up for different meetings, between these meetings they also have to eat quickly. In the future the city would be adapted for these kind of people. Everything is close together. Different shops, restaurants, to go shops, work places but also space to park their car or bicycle. There are already different projects in the make which is related with the interweaved city. EXAMPLE A related problem in the future is urbanization. There will be less space in the city, so there will be multi-purpose buildings. In the Netherlands this is a normal picture for park your bicycle in the city: This is 2012, how would this be in 2020, as more people life in the cities? Also for urban nomads is this not so funny. They should searching for hours for their bike. But there is maybe a solution for this problem. There are already different buildings who has on their rooftop a park or gardens. But another way to use your rooftop is to use it for your bike. The engineers At IBA, came up with the idea to install bike storage facilities on top to he city’s roofs. There are already different underground bicycle parking garages and a bike parking flat and yet there isn’t enough space. There is still enough place on the rooftops of buildings. So, with a public transport chip card, you should be able to store your bicycle. The elevator transports the bike on the roof and when you comes back you only have to chip your card and your bicycle will bring down. It’s easy, takes a little time and another advantage is; your bike can not be stolen. COOL The interweaved city is the future… a city where different functions are closely related on spatial, functional and economical way. Multimodal accessibility of the city is of paramount importance for its function as an economic engine. New energy centers will arise, accessible for people with different vehicles. These energy centers can be characterized as multi-purpose meeting places where living, working, shopping and recreation are merged. So, a nice solution right? If your searching your bike for hours and when you found him he is often broken. This would make it a much easier to find him (not broken) and also in the busy lives of everybody this would be genious. In addition there will be fewer bikes end up in the canals. So, there will also be less environmental pollution source, source READ HERE
HUMAN MOVEMENT June 28, 2012 PLAY THE CITY WHAT This is about the future of the cities in the world. The new generations of grown-ups want to experience the city on a new way, something like a playground? Back to their childhood! So, designers are slowly get to understand this maybe weird but new trend. In the last year some street artists started to experiment with these kinds of interventions over the past years. It always takes a little longer before it attracts more people. But now also governments and brands are creating play elements in public space.I have a few examples for you, so take a look and maybe you got inspired to introduce this in your own city. The first example are the guerrilla swings. These swings were popping up in cities around the world over the last years. No, these aren’t only for children, but for adults as well. Do you remember the good memories of your childhood, when you was swinging on the swing, the feeling in your stomach and the wind was blowing in your hair. So, if you take a seat on this swing you will be remembered of your childhood, you will enjoy it again and you will forget in a few minutes your hectic busy life and the hectic surrounding. Another example is an example in my own city: Utrecht. Its called transfer accelerator. It’s installed next to a stairway and the station Overvecht in the city of Utrecht. So, if you are late again and it takes to long (and maybe also to much energy) to take the stairway you can take this slide. But it’s also a great instrument to make the city more playful. The designers explain: that their slide is meant to be a nice gesture to the travellers. LINK The link with urban nomads is… Urban nomads are always on their way, so the haven’t any quality time for themselves in the city but only when they are home. This would give theme the opportunity to take a minute for themselves, to relax and to get new energy. Also urban nomads like new things in the city and use the city on different way. So, these are good examples to use the city than normal. COOL I t’s cool because it’s makes your city more an experience. The playful elements are funny but also useful. It’s also cool because it makes you happy when you use it. Your laughing and just having fun. So, your quality of life will be improved after using this elements. source READ HERE

De micro trend is the green bridge.

So, there will also be less environmental pollution source, source READ HERE
Macro trend is urbanisation.
