LightRules Product Specifications ™
LightRules™
Product Overview One of the largest energy costs for any facility is expensive, inefficient lighting that is always left ON. Take control of lighting-related energy use to improve operations and the bottom line. MAXIMIZE LIGHTING EFFICIENCY LightRules™, part of the Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System, is a lighting management system that maximizes energy efficiency. By integrating robust controls with Intelligent Light Engines (ILEs), LightRules gives commercial and industrial staff unprecedented levels of management ability and operational insight. The end result? Dramatically reduced lighting-related energy use. Featuring an easy-to-use, web-based interface, LightRules enables lighting to be treated as a managed resource, controlling operating hours and energy use, and providing informative daily reports. TAKE CONTROL OF LIGHTING True lighting control means managing all lighting, either individually or facility-wide, so that illumination provided matches a facility’s needs. This means taking a new approach and specifying exactly what any given light does at a given time on a given day. Every decision about lighting behavior makes a material impact on lighting costs. LightRules gives facility staff the ability to make those choices — per fixture or on any group of fixtures — in order to maximize energy efficiency. All without ever getting on a scissor lift to push buttons, re-set DIP switches, or run low-voltage wiring. GAIN VALUABLE INSIGHT In addition to providing complete control over lighting, LightRules delivers informative reports on all aspects of lighting system performance. How much energy have the lights used in a particular shift, day, or month? What are peak activity times of the day or week? With easy access to this data, facility managers can evaluate the lighting program, provide measurement and verification data to their utility, and determine what modifications they need to make to ensure optimal energy usage. TURN LIGHTING INTO A MANAGED RESOURCE Armed with the ability to control lighting and access detailed operational reports, lighting becomes a resource to manage, not just a cost driver on the monthly utility bill. When facility managers can see the results, they can fine-tune lighting settings to match the facility’s needs. Is there a seasonal shift in the business? What needs to be done to the lighting program to accommodate it? With LightRules, making those incremental modifications is a matter of a few mouse clicks, rather than a laborious and time-consuming chore, and can make a significant impact on the energy bill.

LightRules Network Infrastructure INFRASTRUCTURE OVERVIEW The LightRules network infrastructure enables communication and data transfer between Intelligent Light Engines, the LightRules Appliance, and the facility network. For performance and security purposes, LightRules requires installation of an Ethernet network dedicated solely to the lighting system. Power over Ethernet (PoE) networks, which deliver electrical power to the LightRules Network Gateways, are preferred for most deployments. PoE eliminates the need for an electrical service at each Gateway location, simplifies setup, and reduces system cost. Optionally, a non-PoE network can be deployed, requiring an AC-DC power supply (ordered separately) for each LightRules Network Gateway.
LIGHTRULES NETWORK GATEWAYS LightRules Network Gateways create a network bridge between the Ethernet components in the LightRules network infrastructure and the wireless Intelligent Light Engine (ILE) fixtures. Each Gateway manages communications for up to 50 fixtures within RF range. r
