//2D GEOMETRIC LOGIC This exercise allowed students to investigate 2D geometry through the analysis of a Gothic window from the 13th-14th century. Then, in 1B, this window was transformed through layering, overlapping, and editing. The geometric logic of the window is adapted into the transformation of it, creating a result that still has some elements of its original system.

//3D OBJECTS - VARIATION AND MUTATION Although moving into the 3D realm, this exercise also allows students to transform and iterate upon an object. Students modeled the geometric systems of a column precedent- in this case a Doric column- and then in 4B manipulated specific variables in order to produce new, transformed objects. Then, in 4C and 4D, analytical and systematic drawings and diagrams were produced to describe these objects.

//3D FABRICATION METHODS OF PHYSICAL 2-DIMENSIONALISM This exercise introduced students to various methods of 3D Fabrication, namely unrolling, layered contouring, and eggcrating. Each model was developed digitally, laser-cut, and then assembled by hand. The physical model that was built in this case is an eggcrate model.

//3D FIELDSDIFFERENTIATION, COSMETIC, ATMOSPHERIC This exercise explores 3D fields. Objects were created by combining a number of roof typologies with dormer typologies. These objects were then edited using techniques in Rhino. Then in 4B, these objects were then visually changed by transforming them into a extracted matrix as a surface, a projected matrix as a surface, and a matrix as a volume. In 4C, the smooth surfaces of the object is paneled and manipulated in order to articulate the surface. In 4D, renderings were produced, one that is abstract and one that is photo-realistic, to communicate the formal, spatial, and atmospheric qualities of the 3D fields.
