ZAHRA JAHANYFARD Bahar Studio Bahar Studio is the result of nearly three decades of artistic training, dedication, as well as thousands of miles of travel. Born and raised in Iran, Zahra Jahanyfard immigrated to America in 2007, where she soon earned a bachelor’s in fine arts and studio arts from the University of Central Missouri. Her style is specifically inspired by her cultural background, time in the U.S., as well as the experiences of woman influenced by “past and present worlds.” Now based in Frisco, Jahanyfard’s Bahar Studio is open to all ages and artistic levels, with additional focuses on special needs students and Alzheimer’s patients. “My studio is very homey, cozy place,” says Jahanyfard, who describes lessons at Bahar Studio as a combination of entertainment, art therapy, and education. For Jahanyfard, working in Frisco at Bahar Studio helps foster a deeper relationship with her local community, and goes beyond offering basic art lessons. “I serve people better when I know them personally,” she says. “Art is not a service that students get, and then they leave. You get to know each other, and

Now, Frisco’s wonderfully multicultural flavors are on full display at La Suprema, with a stocked grocery store incorporating both Hispanic and Middle Eastern products, a full meat department, as well as the original restaurant. La Suprema’s intimate dining area offers a deep menu of traditional Mexican, Central, and South American dishes such as menudo, tampiquena, flauta, as well as many breakfast options for the early risers. As for Middle Eastern fare, visitors can choose between a number of flavorful shawarma plate options. They’re not cutting any corners on the extra dishes, either—like every other option on La Suprema’s menu, the shawarma is made with meat from its in-house butcher section. For Banat, La Suprema’s commitment to a diverse food experience is reflected in its tight-knit staff—a mix of Mexican, Nicaraguan, Guatemalan, and Honduran cooks, butchers, and store clerks, just to name a few. “We all share the same goal: making a team,” she says. It’s a team that’s bound to expand—Banat says she has her eye on expanding La Suprema into multiple locations within the region.
