HOMETOWN NOVEL NIGHT Guest Author Panel - November 15th
Lee St. John
Blue Cole
Sharon Marchisello
Lee St. John began writing for her hometown paper in 1970, delivering the School News events from the only high school in the county. Majoring in Public Relations/Journalism in college, Lee St. John again wrote for the newspaper during her summer breaks. After she married and stayed home with her children, she was asked again to write a society column. Impressed by her writing skills, her publisher mentioned to her that one day she should write a book. After Lee St. John self-published her first book, SHE’S A KEEPER! Funny Teacher Stories from Real Southern Classrooms, a conventional publisher appreciated her humor, and published, SHE’S A KEEPER! Cockamamie Memoirs from a Hot Southern Mess Lee St. John is an unapologetic rogue Southern Belle, a high-jinx expert, and mayhem confessor. With all the cotillion classes and etiquette lessons, you’d think she’d know how to behave better, yet, she’s merciless when she speaks her mind ratting out former Presidents of the United States, the Mafia, an Augusta Master’s winner, a Super Bowl Champion quarterback, famous personalities, dead people, and everyone else she knows including her family and friends. To Lee, everyone is fair game because she also rats out herself.
Blue Cole has been writing since he could grip a pencil. After almost 15 years of business ownership, he has returned to writing. Some of his previous jobs include working as a pizza maker, performing drug and DNA tests, and selling children’s clothes. He currently works for a state government. He grew up and still lives with his family in rural Georgia, a common setting in many of his works.
Sharon Marchisello has written fiction all her life, but Going Home is her first published novel. Her other publications include travel articles, corporate training manuals, short stories, book reviews, a blog, and a nonfiction book about personal finance, Live Well, Grow Wealth. She earned a Masters in Professional Writing from the University of Southern California, and is an active member of Atlanta Sisters in Crime. Going Home was inspired by her mother's battle with Alzheimer's, which prompted her to wonder what it would be like to interview a witness unable to rely on her memory.
